Posted June 27, 201510 yr The first chart to be announced on a Friday will cover sales and streams from Sunday to Thursday only. Therefore, the peak period for streaming will not be included in that chart. Could that mean that Thinking Out Loud will drop out of the top forty that week (even if it returns the following week)?
June 27, 201510 yr Unfortunately I think it will be, but the impact of streaming will be lower that week.
June 27, 201510 yr I think the poll question contradicts the title? :P It'll hang on I expect, being as high as #35 on this week's Wednesday midweeks.
June 27, 201510 yr The question in the title "Will the chart change end Thinking Out Loud's run?" conflicts with the question in the poll "Will TOL be in the first Friday chart?" I'm sure TOL will still be in the chart anyhow, so I voted yes.

June 27, 201510 yr Sadly, TOL won't be going anywhere for a while yet. I will be ecstatic if it is though. With the weekend streaming boost, it usually benefits the upbeat, dancey tracks that are in peoples weekend party playlists more than MOR tracks like this.

I don't have the data in a suitable format to check, but I think TOL has generally risen between Friday's update and the final chart on Sunday.
June 28, 201510 yr Everyone's streaming will be affected by the short week, so I don't see why Ed would be more badly affected.
June 28, 201510 yr Author Everyone's streaming will be affected by the short week, so I don't see why Ed would be more badly affected. The sales will be skewed towards sales that week. Therefore, songs which rely heavily on streaming (e.g. TOL) will suffer more than songs which are still riding high in the sales chart.
June 28, 201510 yr I can't believe it's spent a year in the Top 40, like a not intolerable but still not particularly pleasant smell in a room.
June 28, 201510 yr it dropped out of the top 40 in the sales chart the other week and that's the only chart I care about :P It is pushing up the bland daisies, joined the choir unlistenable, it has expired past it's sell-by, it is bereft of any life, stiff as a board and gone to meet it's chart-streaming maker. In short it is an ex-chart parrot repeating the same words over and over and over till the end of time.....
June 28, 201510 yr He most likely will! He was at 35 this week on Wed midweeks. So maybe even 39 or 40 but he should just scrape in.
June 28, 201510 yr He most likely will! He was at 35 this week on Wed midweeks. So maybe even 39 or 40 but he should just scrape in. This sounds like a description of this week's chart. There's still two more to go before the first Friday chart. Edited June 28, 201510 yr by Griff
June 28, 201510 yr And several major new entries will be released in these two weeks but he keeps overlapping other songs + new entries will lose steam from Tuesday to Thursday still. This is why I'm telling maybe very low top 40 but he should scrape in!
June 28, 201510 yr well if apple music launches this week ~ streaming could potentially be much stronger compensating for the lost 2 days! who knows 'boring out loud' may be riding high in the apple music chart and back in the top20 never mind dropping out of the top40~ :(
