Actually HIAM was one of the first song to introduce pop into the top 40 mainstream. The overdoing of dub step definitely took place in the late Summer/ early Fall of 2011. HIAM was sent to radio in January.

 

Yeah, in UK it wasn't anything new, coz they have plenty of artist who uses dubstep, but in USA it was first song which went on no.1 with dubstep breakdown, so it was trend setter, coz after her, songs with dubstep were huge hits, bigger than HIAM actually (Good Feeling, I Knew You Were Trouble..)
