Wouldn't MF be best suited in Reality though because it's... LITERALLY REALITY TV? :')
I certainly wouldn't count it as reality TV. It's hard to distinguish quite what reality TV actually IS, but I think because MF is more than just 'vote for your favourite' and there's an actual purpose behind it, it can be counted as non-reality.
Then Eurovision is also good to nominate. And The Voice US, etc. It's a slippery slope.
Well, The Voice isn't because it's a talent show, which is obviously reality. I know MF relies on 'talent' and 'voting for your favourite' too, like The Voice, X Factor etc. but it's in a different way.

I really can't see how it's different enough to be categorised as another genre.

All of these are live, involve voting, have real-life situations and dialogue (although most is scripted obviously), the result shows have drama, suspense and stuff. The only difference is that most contestants in MF have already met each other several times prior to the show. However, The Voice doesn't really rely on the contestants' interactions anyway.

Well, having the result in MF/ESC be dependent on an outside factor to some degree also plays a part in it for me, I know you can argue song makes a difference on talent based singing shows, but in what is ostensibly a SONG competition, that's always going to be a big(ger) factor and that, combined with everything else, differentiates them enough. I see them more as big sporting event type affairs, they happen annually (or whatever) and might be similar to other more common events, but have a special distinction all the same.

Not sure I agree that MF should be included in this. If other reality type shows are excluded, it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Also, agree there should be a minimum number of episodes aired rule. Choosing Scream after 3(!!) episodes as an ultimate TV show, amongst the hundreds and hundreds of other options, seems crazy.

I see MF as being more in the line of TOTP/Celeb Juice than things like Big Brother/X Factor.

And yes, anything that hasn't aired a full season doesn't count.

Just a quick note,

Anyone not specifying which version of The Killing/The Bridge they are voting for will have their nomination added to the tally for the original DK/DK-SE version. (Because the US versions are abysmal)

I think I'm the only one to nominate Alias :o

It's probably in my top 5 of all time as well. How disappointing.
