Also, it hasn't really had any mainstream airplay, has it?

Can't understand why Aston is flopping so badly. He some good loyal fan support from the very popular JLS fans. Not to mention it's a very decent debut from a ex-boybander. The point is i think the album will go ahead as will Nathan's but lets not kid ourselves that there will be any long lasting career for either. Shame coz i liked Get Stupid and thought it was a sure-fire hit. I would think it's the streaming but its not very high on iTunes either.

Oh and well done Ella either way her name has sold this record...!

The problem is his track isn't very good at all and neither was Nathan Skye's song. Both have been released on the back of the Bands splitting up and experiencing declining support so I'm not surprised they haven't done that well.

Aston actually promo'd the song to death on TV and radio. This could have been a total flop, instead of a minor flop!

Whatever, and not being nasty, this is as good as his career will get.

The market seems comfortable with the amount of boyband fodder available, and with Little Mix and 5H doing well- probably likewise girlbands.

Time for something new or revamped. Bring on the pop punk :0)

I'm surprised that Aston isn't higher following good pre-orders. Take Nathan, for example, who never hit the top ten on iTunes but hit 6 on the first midweek update; Aston doesn't seem to have had the same advantage despite scoring higher pre-orders than Sykes, even if he did manage a 16 spot on Tuesday. I find his position unusual taking this into consideration, as if his pre-orders could be missing (they probably aren't). As for the quality of the songs from both artists, they are good, well composed pop songs, but neither are very commercial, Nathan's track even more so than Aston's.
Considering that LuvBug - Marvin Humes' solo project - have managed two top 20s, I will be shocked if Aston missed out. He was always the lead member of the band, I expected him to be the most - if only - successful one of them as a solo act.

Nathan's single was in that mess of a 5 day week! So he had the benefit of no Spotify data, and the Sunday start meaning new releases not going against peak streaming.

LuvBug had tons of Capital support. Aston's had no radio support at all, so it's no wonder he's doing worse.

None from Capital but I'd hardly say nigh on 2,000 plays in the last 30 days is no radio support at all.

That's deceiving though - most if not all are from *local* radio stations, which have little effect on the chart. Evidently I phrased my post wrong but it's quite clear what I meant.

Ok I understand.

I agree with those who say neither Aston or Nathan wil have any success as a solo artist. It isn't easy making the transition from a boyband especially when they disbanded because they were in decline.

The mods do so much hard work on here with the updates they provide and such I'm surprised there's not a lot more insignificant typos than there is <_< I think its a better idea to thank them for all they do instead of nitpicking :P

I'm crossing my fingers that Aston hangs on to the top 25 so he can get a play on Friday. He has such a devoted fanbase and is even on NOW so I'm disappointed he's falling so hard in the predictions. I'll be interested to see if The Score and Shaggy can sneak in tomorrow on another note. It has to be the Score's last chance! (Something I feel like I've said every week since they started to perform well on itunes!)

Airplay very rarely has any impact on the charts unless it's from R1, R2, Captial, Kiss or Heart.

Actually top 5 will suffice for a Thursday I think from now on with just a couple of new entries, the new chart will be up in less than 24 hours tomorrow, any requests just fire away for other chart info I'll be back after 8pm to answer any requests.

And after last night's nitpicking I feel rather deflated more than anything.

Can Little Mix hold the #1 for a 4th week?

Yes. Although rumour is Calvin will have a big boost via Capital, and he has good streaming.

For your information NOW 91 is on sales of 200k already, and the Nation's Favourite 80s #1s on sales of 24,8k at #2 in the compilation chart.
