it pains me to say it - as I love the Brothers Johnson record to bits, and it really should have won ( :P :o ) - but I think The Clash got one more points, a record Ive never heard nor felt inclined to dig out, bizarrely. so this may be my opportunity to give it a chance

Oops! Don't know how I missed that! Clearly I can't count, but yep, The Clash got 26 points so they win...I'll edit now

Hooray, justice prevails! Need a Clash record in the rundown and that's a good 'un!
Hooray, justice prevails! Need a Clash record in the rundown and that's a good 'un!

Are there any bad ones (from the 70s anyway)?

errr, well, never been a Clash fanatic meself. Just hearing this one right now for the first time - starts off nicely, then quickly becomes a sort of shouty oik version of Mickey. fairly clearly Sham 69 and various others that followed based their entire career on it and other early Clash singles....

Like the fade-out chanting and squealing guitar but the basic song/chorus leaves me a bit ...meh!

sorry! Brothers Johnson is way better :P
