i really find it woeful ellie has decided to follow the taylor-model of centring songs around "is this all about my former relationship with fellow celeb?" shtick to sell records. it's so smug and manipulative. aren't her and ed still good friends? does anyone really care?

 

the production is very nice in places as with anything max martin produced by so many of the song details are so...un-ellie-like from choice of lyrics to pitching. it all ends up feeling rather faceless and a baffling choice of lead single...

Yeah agreed. Replying to 'Don't' feels quite a bit less tacky than 'Don't' itself, not to mention Taylor's entire career.

I normally love Ellie but I think this is bloody awful after my first listen :(

I've really tried with this, but it's by far and away the worst thing she's ever done and practically unlistenable. :(

I don't get it yet. I don't hate the song but it's just so "empty". I'm sad cause I love Ellie but this is so beige…

I hope there is more substance in the album.

She really had sold out in the worst way possible. Nothing wrong with adapting to get hits but to ditch the whole style and feel which got you famous in the first place which is ultimately only going to result in a higher career peak but less fanbase longevity. Good luck Ellie, I won't be buying delerium or following her anymore, I feel like she has screwed her original fans over massively.

We've not heard the vast majority of Delirium tracks yet though, so for all we know there may be some "old style Ellie" songs included.

Obviously adore this. So nice to have her back. Verrry excited for the album.

This song is interesting to say the least. Most songs start like this for me only to hear is two or three times so it's looking good for me :dance:

Yeah don't forget the bonus tracks that may be tracks from her acoustic album.

I am by no means an Ellie fan (in fact I actively find her voice and material very annoying) but after three listens this is already one of my favourite things she has done. Not quite as good as 'Lights' or 'Figure 8' (which are the only two songs I love) but I think its a really great pop song.

The song is not bad at all but this new image seems extremely contrived and puts me off completely.

Sell-out.
