Posted August 27, 20159 yr Iconic Pop Vol. 1 / NOW 85 The first of the brand new series (after "Pop Hits" (1999-2008) and "The Playlist" (2009-2012), Iconic Pop got released in the summer of 2013 and the title of the album was inspired by Icona Pop who had just hit the UK Top Spot with "I Love It" featuring Charli XCX. I made this series after "Cinderella" by Diana Vickers flopped and knew her sophmore album's lead single would not appear on NOW 85, and also it gave me a chance to make a 100% pop version of a NOW album, as some songs/artists had amazing Pop-Bangers out around the summer of 2013. Trivia(?):In this Volume we have number ones from Icona Pop & Charli XCX, Naughty Boy & Sam Smith Rudimental, Daft Punk, Robin Thicke, Justin Timberlake, and will.i.am & Britney Spears. We have two soundtrack songs: Smurf 2's "Ooh La La" and The Great Gatsby's "Young And Beautiful" Tegan & Sara, Lana Del Rey (both songs), Justin Timberlake, Demi Lovato, StooShe, Florrie, Selena Gomez, Diana Vickers, Daft Punk, The Saturdays, John Newman, Jessie J, Kylie, and Robin Thicke have all been featured as a Popjustice "Big Song" on their website making it 37.5% enjoyable for Mr Popjustice. Max Martin's marvellous production appears only once, via Christina Aguilera's Let There Be Love #BuyLotusOniTunes Noticeable exclusions from this volume include Jason DeRulo's The Other Side, The Wanted's Walks Like Rihanna, Olly Murs' Dear Darlin', and Gabz OBVIOUSLY!Disc 1 01: Icona Pop - I Love It (feat. August 29, 20159 yr Author Iconic Pop, Vol. 2 / NOW 86 Not one of my best volumes, but Pop seemed a bit scarce by the end of 2013, despite the hype of Q4. Disc 1 is my ideal list of Divas Live 2014. Britney, Cher, Celine and Mariah rub shoulders with Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Charli XCX! Disc 2 is girlband central and also has one of my favourite euphoric pop songs "The Mother We Shared" by Chvrches. Melanie B & Geri are the first of the Spice Girls to appear on the Iconic Pop series (and so far, the last). Melanie C was the last Spice Girl to feature on my previous albums with Emma B collab "I Know Him So Well"Originaly "Wake Me Up" by Avicci was on the track listing, but I can't stand that song anymore, so I replaced it with the AMAZING "American Girl" by Bonnie McKee8 Number Ones! That's pretty good isn't it?Eminem is only here because of Rihanna's killer chorusSia only wrote one song on this album! She must've been ill. Disc 1 01: Katy Perry - Roar 02: Lady Gaga - Applause 03: Miley Cyrus - We Can't Stop 04: Britney Spears - Work Bitch 05: Bonnie McKee - American Girl 06: Calvin Harris - Thinking About You 07: Katy B - 5AM 08: V V Brown - The Apple 09: Eliza Doolittle - Let It Rain 10: Charli XCX - SuperLove 11: One Direction - Best Song Ever 12: Justin Timberlake - Take Back the Night 13: Eminem featuring Rihanna - The Monster 14: Drake - Hold On, We're Going Home 15: Miley Cyrus - Wrecking Ball 16: Cher - I Hope You Find It 17: Mariah Carey - The Art of Letting Go 18: Celine Dion - Love Me Back to Life 19: Ellie Goulding - How Long Will I Love You 20: Lily Allen - Somewhere Only We Know Disc 2 01: Lorde - Royals 02: Ellie Goulding - Burn 03: Chvrches - The Mother We Share 04: Foxes - Youth 05: Icona Pop - All Night 06: Haim - The Wire 07: Mutya Keisha Siobhan - Flatlines 08: Little Mix - Move 09: Neon Jungle - Trouble 10: The Saturdays - Disco Love 11: Eliza Doolittle - Big When I Was Little 12: John Newman - Cheating 13: OneRepublic - Counting Stars 14: Lawson - Juliet 15: The Vamps- Can We Dance 16: McFly - Love Is on the Radio 17: Lady Gaga - Do What U Want (feat. November 4, 20159 yr Author Iconic Pop 3 / NOW 87A Non-UK-Number-One starts off Volume 3 of Iconic Pop. Kylie's "Into the Blue" was criminally missed of NOW 87's inclusion along with other Warner Music artists. It is Miss Minogue's 2nd appearance so far, even though she hadn't even released a studio album during the time of Volumes 1-3 Lady Gaga is the only artist (so far) to have the same song appear on different volumes. The original R. Kelly version is hidden at the bottom of disc 2 of Iconic Pop 2, whereas the almighty Gaga/Xtina version plumps lovely inbetween fellow divas Shakira, Rihanna, and J.LoYoncé all on this album like... Beyoncé. The surprise albums first hit singles take spots on Disc 1 and Disc 2. Obviously this would never happen in real life, because licensing is a btichOther double appearances on the album include Katy Perry, Jess Glynne & Lily Allen Sophie Ellis-Bextor appears in the very rarely seen Track 21 slot. A slot reserved for songs that flopped so hard that even I, at some point may have forgotten to include it in the original track listing. I also feel she needed to be added considering I saw on tour whilst she promoted WanderlustDisc 1 01: Kylie Minogue - Into the Blue 02: Lily Allen - Air Balloon 03: Sam Smith - Money On My Mind 04: Clean Bandit - Rather Be (feat. November 6, 20159 yr Author Iconic Pop, Vol. 4 / NOW 88 Summer of 2014 was so "saxy"... that was awful, I'm sorry. But Cheryl and Ariana gave us two anthems for the brass family with Crazy Stupid Love & ProblemMax Martin rides high on this volume. November 6, 20159 yr Author Iconic Pop, Vol. 5 / NOW 89 After appearing on Volume 1 with Gentlemen, 2 with Disco Love and 3 with Not Giving Up it seems this may be the last time we see The Saturdays! :,( What Are You Waiting For? was a flop top 40 hit from them for their Finest SelectionQueen Marina finally cameback with her 3rd studio album FROOT. November 6, 20159 yr Author Iconic Pop, Vol. 6 / NOW 90My version of NOW 90 was the hardest to make due to the staleness in the charts around this timeAll together Charli & Rita make up 6 appearances on the 6 series so far. Charli first appears on Vol. 2 with "SuperLove" and Rita appears on Vol. 4 with "I Will Never Let You Down". Both have appeared with Iggy Azalea on separate songs.Madonna appears! Fun fact, Living for Love was at the top of the track listing, but a wardrobe malfunction caused the song to fall to Number 12! NO CAPES!Whilst releasing a country song, a Christmas song and a single from her greatest hits, this is Kelly Clarkson's first appearance on the Iconic Pop series and so far, it's her only appearanceFlorrie has now appeared twice throughout the series.MNEK technically makes 2 appearances here with his own song "The Rhythm" and also writing and providing backing vocals for "Living for Love". Whilst not being released over here, Baby Don't Lie (at the time) was the only Gwen song in any charts ANYWHERE, so I HAD to include it.More movie mania! Ellie Goulding's 50 Shades of Grey song (produced by Max Martin) appears on Disc 2.Hopefully this is the only time Paul McCartney appears in the Iconic Pop series. November 6, 20159 yr Author Iconic Pop, Vol. 7 / NOW 91Volume 7 marks Britney's 4th apperance. She appeared on Volume 1 with Ooh La La, Work Bitch on volume 2, Perfume on Volume 3 and Pretty Girls makes 4 on volume 7. Techinally she's appeared 5 times as she has a featuring credit on "Scream & Shout" with will.i.am on Volume 111 songs have featured artists on them.Tove Lo appears twice, because she is awesome and her songs are awesome.Ghost Towns aplenty thanks to Adam Lambert (first appearance) and Madonna (2nd appearance)There are only 2 UK number ones here. All Saints, Pet Shop Boys and The Corrs represent the still going UK legends, as does Missy Elliott for the US. Teen pop appears in Justin Bieber, One Direction, Little Mix and Troye Sivan. And then we have underrated Pop masterpiece makers, Florrie, Zara Larrson, Dua Lipa and Elliphant. And I decided to end disc 2 with "Heroes" by Bowie, an Iconic Popstar  Already Years & Years/Tove Lo and Meghan Trainor are obvious inclusions for Volume 10 which would be out in the Summer ^_^
