Will Young is a mannequin on a mission in 'Joy' music video

 

Will Young is a mannequin on a mission in his new music video, and the overall visual is weirdly wonderful.

 

The singer will officially release 'Joy' on September 25 as the next cut to be lifted from his chart-topping album 85% Proof.

 

Young takes on the role of a plastic figure in the colourful music video, which sees him break out of his artificial surroundings to avoid an explosive end.

 

'Joy' was co-written by Young with collaborators Jim Eliot and Mima Stilwell, and serves as the follow-up to previous singles 'Love Revolution' and 'Thank You'.

 

The star will support his sixth studio album - and first on new label Island Records - with a headline tour of the UK next month.

 

The shows will start in York on October 29, and conclude at London's Hammersmith Apollo on November 29.

Love the video, it's really enjoyable to watch and I'm so pleased he's gone with Joy as 3rd single, we could all do with a bit more Joy in our lives. :D

Will Young keeps them coming, with the latest video from his album 85% Proof - Dan Henshaw's stylish and poignant promo for Joy. And once again Will gives a wholehearted and winning performance, this time in the role of a human-scale mannequin who comes alive in what first appears to be a lifesize 1950s dolls house.

 

But things are not quite as they seem. The viewpoint pulls away to reveal a banal facsimile of family life on a remote airport strip, and the full truth of this bizarre set-up, that it lies in the path of an atomic bomb test, is revealed in the final moments. Joy is fleeting indeed...
