September 7, 20159 yr Author Lol at Dorothy joining Buzzjack just to rate Summertime Sadness remix -1 and is never to be seen again.
September 7, 20159 yr No real losses so far, I do really like the remixed SS but the original is my absolute fave of Lana's. West Coast for 11th please, no way does it deserve to be top 10.
September 7, 20159 yr I think 12th is about right for the Summetime Sadness remix, it's not awful but there's nothing that distinguishes it as a Lana track, it's just an anonymous remix that just happens to be one of her songs. No way did that deserve to rank among her best work (not tactical at all I promise  ) Edited September 7, 20159 yr by Chez Wombat
September 7, 20159 yr Author 11th: Brooklyn Baby Average: 7.17 T5xcnjAG8pE High By The Beach; Ezra's Whore (10), Henderella (10), Joe. (10), Scene (10), KWEEN_DEE (10), princess_lotti (10), John-James (10), Cody Slayberry (9.5), Josh. (9), CallumDC (9), toxic_air (9), N💎lly. S (9), Acidburn (9) Born To Die; J▲hq (2), Vülker (4), · ketalina · (4), Davidson (4), jark (4) The first song to take us over a 7 average, whilst peaking at #11 (like so many of my faves) is the gorgeous ‘Brooklyn Baby’. Since it was only pushed as a single in certain territories, some of you won’t have been very familiar with the song, but those who were, seemed to give it high scores. Lyrically, ‘Brooklyn Baby’ is genius - it’s a tongue-in-cheek attack on Lana’s critics, more specifically, the pretentious hipster crowd of Brooklyn, who she calls out for looking down, patronising, belittling and judging her personal aesthetic as well as her style of music. As we know, Lana is a West Coast gal, but in much of this song she takes the sarcastic first-person role of one of these “Brooklyn babies”, saying ‘Well, my boyfriend’s in a band’... ‘I’ve got feathers in my hair’...’I get down to Beat Poetry’ likening them to snobbish clones. As well as adoring this song for the lyrics, I also think it has a fantastic melody and is, along with ‘West Coast’ the very best of Ultraviolence. This leaves the top 10 (in alphabetical order): Blue Jeans Born to Die Dark Paradise High By The Beach National Anthem Ride Summertime Sadness Video Games West Coast Young and Beautiful
September 7, 20159 yr The original 'Summertime Sadness' is one of the most dull things Lana has ever put her name to. The remix whilst generic at least adds a bit of life to it. *prepares to be shot*
September 7, 20159 yr So glad the remix is out of the way. It upsets me that the remix won a grammy, and Lana has yet to actually win any other grammys   Plus Cedric is a b*tch to Lana fans... Gutted Brooklyn Baby didn't make top 10 as it is probably in my top 3 for her whole discography :( :(
September 7, 20159 yr I really did think Brooklyn Baby would be higher :( Easily my fave on Ultraviolence although that doesn't say much :kink:
September 7, 20159 yr Ultraviolence far too low :( In my top 3 Lana songs probably  Dark Paradise, Ride and probably Summertime Sadness I'd like out next for me which would leave a fantastic final 7!
September 7, 20159 yr A Young and Beautiful / West Coast / National Anthem top 3 would be perfect. Most of the positions so far seem about right, apart from Burning Desire going out so early!
September 7, 20159 yr 12th: Summertime Sadness (Vs Cedric Gervais Remix) Average: 6.9 That's what you get for taking on 'Ride'. -_- was it lana herself :D
September 7, 20159 yr Well this turned sour quickly  Ultraviolence is one of her most listenable singles imo. Brooklyn Baby being out is good but not being higher than the Summertime Sadness remix :drama: Blue Jeans to leave asap please (I'd say Born To Die but trying to be a bit more realistic)
September 7, 20159 yr A Young and Beautiful / West Coast / National Anthem top 3 would be perfect. Replace National Anthem with Blue Jeans and you're there.
September 7, 20159 yr 'Ride' / 'Born to Die' / 'Dark Paradise' top 3 would be perfection. A gurl can dream. 'Ultraviolence' got fairly tiring quite quickly, while 'Brooklyn Baby' has always been a rather lush highlight from that album. I was obsessed with the 'Summertime Sadness' remix in 2013 but it doesn't really stand up against the absolute greats in her discography. I've ended up preferring 'Young and Beautiful' from the very same year now.
September 7, 20159 yr 'Brooklyn Baby' out already??? What?!!! :o The first song to take us over a 7 average, whilst peaking at #11 (like so many of my faves) is the gorgeous ‘Brooklyn Baby’. Since it was only pushed as a single in certain territories, some of you won’t have been very familiar with the song, but those who were, seemed to give it high scores. As well as adoring this song for the lyrics, I also think it has a fantastic melody and is, along with ‘West Coast’ the very best of Ultraviolence. Summed it up perfectly. I absolutely adore Lana's sarcastic form of mocking in BB.
September 8, 20159 yr Author I can't complete the results tonight because I've got to go to a screening soon but I'll kick off the top ten and get rid of 10 - 7 very shortly.
September 8, 20159 yr Author 10th: High By The Beach Average: 7.32 QnxpHIl5Ynw High By The Beach; ℓindsey ♫ (10), N💎lly. S (10), Joe. (9.5) Ultraviolence1989 (9.5), CallumDC (9.5) Scene (9.5) Born To Die; Henderella (2), dandystar (2) 'High By the Beach’ is the most recent song to appear in the rate, and it still just about manages the top 10. Despite no top scores, it manages a decent average with lots of 7 - 9 scores and just a few bottom scores. I’m hoping this will continue to grow on the people, because while it’s quite the change in pace for Lana in rhythm and style, I find its simplistic and repetitive tone quite evocative - despite not yet really getting to grasps with the meaning behind the song. This is, as many have said, better than pretty most of Ultraviolence, so let’s hope there is more of this on Honeymoon. If you’ve yet to watch the video, I suggest doing so!
