Embrace carry on

Virgin.net

Embrace look set to continue as a band after it was reported that the indie rockers would split following the release of their next album.

Embrace frontman Danny McNamara had told BBC 6 Music on Thursday: "I think our next album will be our last ever album.

"If we get as far as making it and finishing it, I want it to be a masterpiece and I want to take as long as it takes."

He added: "We've worked solidly since I was 17 - that's half my life - and I've done nothing except look at the bigger picture. I haven't stopped to smell the flowers along the way at all."

But speaking on Chris Moyles' breakfast show on BBC Radio One on Friday, McNamara said: "We're going to make our next album as if it's our last, but we always do that anyway, because that's how we go into these things, you've got to be wholehearted, you know."

When asked by Moyles if the band were "jacking it all in", McNamara added: "That's definitely not the intention."

Embrace kick off their UK tour on Friday to support their number one album 'This New Day', which was released in April.

The singer said: "This tour that we're on might be the last for a while as there's some stuff that I want to do. But our next album's got to be amazing and it needs a lot from me to do that."

Embrace UK tour dates:

Norwich UEA - September 22

I heard the news they were splitting up on Chris Moyles show this morning and I was shocked to hear they were splitting up. :o I know the lead singer's been on and cleared any mis understandings but well I still don't really know what to make of all this still...
There's the impression in there that they don't want to upset the fans, and therefore not tell us directly, but just seem to be hinting at it :( :( :(.

i hope they dont split as they are a great band and i am glad there last 2 studio albums have done well, they are great and always have been and are very underrated band at times
i thought the last album lacked much inspiration personally... nothing against them tho

They've had ups and downs in their career in terms of album sucsess, but deserve to go on for a lot more longer :).

I'm going to see them the week after next, if it's one of the last shows they'll do, it should be one of their best.

The only two songs of theirs I have ever liked are 'Wonder', and what was supposed to be the follow-up single to Natures Law; 'No Use Crying'.

Otherwise they are completely and utterly bile-inducing!
