Posted September 18, 20159 yr The 2015 Rugby World Cup starts today at Twickenham as England take on Fiji. In the biggest Rugby World Cup to date, the pressure is on England to repeat their winning performance from 2003 in Australia. But how well will they fare? Hosting can often be a double-edged sword - there are countless examples of the host nation thriving or crumbling under the expectation of the nation. England have a difficult group this time alongside Australia, Wales, Fiji and outsiders Uruguay. The bookies make them second favourites behind the All Blacks, but to avoid them to the final they must win their group. The route to the final could potentially include a quarter final against Scotland/Samoa and a Semi Final against the Irish or French. If they win the group. If not South Africa and New Zealand loom. Feel free to speculate on our chances in the tournament.
September 18, 20159 yr Finalists, I think. Providing we remain unbeaten throughout the pool stages. If not then semi-finals.
September 18, 20159 yr Even though rugby's not a sport I follow regularly, methinks the England squad will not get past the quarter finals, as from what I've seen, the All Blacks and the Roos are good squads, just a tad better than England.....
September 21, 20159 yr Author Nobody predicting an England triumph I see... None of the big teams looked fantastic in the first matches (obviously Australia are yet to play). New Zealand had similar trouble overcoming Argentina and we did well to beat Fiji.
October 4, 20159 yr And if we lose to Australia- then it really is curtains for us. And it was curtains for us. Who voted for the pool stages just out of interest?
