Following Genealogy's relative underperformance in comparison to previous Armenian entries, I'm sure head of delegation Gohar Gasparyan will be looking for a much better result in Stockholm. An article on Armenian website Blog News suggests that Iveta Mukuchyan will soon be announced as the Armenian representative for 2016. A later interview with head of delegation Gohar states that Armenia can only confirm participation in 2016 and denied any further rumours to be true as the broadcaster is focused on the upcoming Junior Eurovision, although Iveta is quoted saying she would love to take part in the contest. Gohar loves to make things difficult!

However, someone caught a report on Armenian news programme "Evening Yerevan" suggesting Iveta is the representative:

We'll have to wait and see but Andy from ESC Kaz (usually reliable on Eastern European rumours) has said that we should expect to hear from Armenia a lot earlier than usual this year. Furthermore, Iveta took part in The Voice of Germany a few years ago, singing Euphoria in her audition (so a Eurovision participation is meant to be!). She eventually progressed to the live shows.

She is also in the process of releasing new music with new single 'Simple Like A Flower' being from her upcoming album to be released in 2016. And she also released a single 'Target' earlier this year.

Although, the word going around is that it's Lilit Hovhannisyan (based mainly around the slightly auburn/ginger tinge in the hair).
If it's a ballad I'm not taking part in Eurovision next year.

Gohar and her elaborate announcements every year! I'd love to see what she'd do if she was involved in hosting Eurovision itself!

I haven't read anything linking that video to Lilit, but I have read theories linked to Athena Manoukian that make a lot of sense. The video is seemingly produced with the involvement of Australians (judging by the accent) and Athena's management and label are Australian. Plus Athena was the only rumoured member of Genealogy to turn out to be incorrect, so maybe she was on Gohar's radar but saved her for this year - hence the early announcement due to having it planned for months.

Whether it's Athena, Lilit or Iveta or someone else, now that we have confirmation it's a female hopefully we'll get another 'Apricot Stone' or 'Qele Qele'.

Anything but another 'Apricot Stone' that was diabolical.

I'm here for a 'Pre Gomesh' redux.

Iveta has released her brand new music video and also launched a new website, I'm pretty sure it's going to either be her or Athena who is giving lots of potential hints too.

Something like that song would be very cool for Eurovision!

Only a few hours to go and the latest rumour is Emma Asatryan, I'm hoping for Iveta or Athena

Qele Qele Part 2 please!

Apparently it was the iconic head of delegation Gohar in this video! :kink:

If anyone's got a spare pop banger lying around, they can submit it to be Iveta's Eurovision entry.

To that end, AMPTV is staging an open call for composers. They will accept songs from composers anywhere in the world, and the number can cover any genre and be written in any language. They will not, however, consider any song that includes a “political subtext, insults, or inappropriate language.” Keep those four-letter words to yourself!

The song must be submitted by November 13 at 18:00 Yerevan time. You’ll want to send it to selection@armtv.com.

I wonder if some leftover songs that were originally for Melodifestivalen could get submitted!

According to ESC Kaz (and I saw this on her Twitter or Instagram anyway), Iveta has been working with Ovi (Romania 2009, 2014) on a potential Eurovision entry and ESC Kaz reports that G:son is now being rumoured too. Considering his lack of entries in Melodifestivalen I wouldn't be surprised if he turned up in the likes of Armenia, Georgia and Spain (again for the latter two)!

Head of delegation Gohar has confirmed the song will be chosen before the end of the year, with a "surprise performance" by Iveta being teased on ArmTV's New Year show - although we know better than to assume a Gohar surprise would be such a thing as an actual Eurovision entry.

Iveta has confirmed that she is now choosing between just 2 songs for her entry, one is by Armenian composers and the other is by Swedes. I sort of hope she goes with the Swedish song even if that is against diversity :heehee: although the Armenian song may be even better for all we know of course!

Gohar's promo machine is in full swing once again! Iveta says that the song will be revealed at the same time as the music video, and it won't be too long. I'd like to be convinced but we know Gohar will never miss an opportunity to string out a hype campaign as long as possible.

After much teasing, Gohar says she has some "super news" for us in 30 minutes... Hopefully a song title, but knowing Gohar it'll be something pointless!

LoveWave is out March 2nd, and she went with the Armenian song over the Swedish one! :o
