A shame 'Wide Awake' is so low, a stunning song and I loved the dance remix she did on the Prismatic tour!

Thank God for that -1 for 'Wide Awake'. So overrated imo - I'm surprised I even gave it a 4 tbh.

 

'Firework', 'E.T.' and 'Teenage Dream' for the top 3 please.

'Wide Awake' is a well written and beautiful song! 8th in a singles discography like hers is fine and about right though.

Yeah I'm happy with eighth for 'Wide Awake', despite giving it my 11 (*tries best to suppress Regina-induced rage* :)). Lyrically, it's Katy at her best, and I always liked how its honesty and self-awareness tied in so well with winding down such a mammoth, hugely successful era which was so defined by marketing strategies, cheap tactics and gimmicks (not to say it was free of that itself what with it capitalising on the publicity around her marriage breakdown, but it's all relative).

 

Good to see 'Waking Up In Vegas' surpass expectations. I think a great deal of my appreciation for that derives from its awesome video rather than the song in isolation, but it's always appeared underrated in general so I'm glad that's not the case here.

Yeah so the results of the poll really started to go wrong considering her best 3 songs are between #6-#10 :( This is also the last song from One Of The Boys meaning the top 5 consists of only Teenage Dream/Prism tracks. And this probably would have been top 5 if it wasn't for Joseph's low ranking to get other songs higher :kink: Anyway this was the song that proved everyone wrong that Katy Perry would be a one hit wonder after this song became a massive worldwide success including peaking top 3 in America and #4 here in the UK where it spent a very long time in the top 10. This has also practically sold the same as her debut single in the UK- both around 680k I believe! This is my favourite Katy Perry song as it is such a fun pop song that is fantastic and it is also one of her best videos and one of my favourites of all time. The wedding scene going to all the events is so good :heart: This received 4 11's from people with taste (including myself :kink:) but a couple of low scores dragged this down :(

Only 6???? :o big shocker imo.

5. ROAR - Average: 8.47

Despite receiving no 11's, Katy's lead single from Prism roars its way to a top 5 position here with a fantastic average just shy of 8.5! This is also the last lead single out after IKAG finished 9th and Cali Gurls was 14th. This was of course another gigantic smash for Katy and think became her 2nd million seller in the UK, as well as being a massive #1 around the whole world. This was one of the biggest songs of 2013 and the music video is absolutely fantastic! As mentioned above, this received no 11's but a massive amount of 14 10's- by far the most yet- sees this do great here! However a couple of really low scores pulled it down and it just missed 4th place by 0.02 :o

4. FIREWORK - Average: 8.49

I am shocked this isn't top 3 here but unfortunately this seems to have got quite a few haters over the years :( From the iconic first line to the beautiful inspirational lyrics to that perfect chorus, Firework is easily in my top 5 Katy singles *.* This was Katy's first million seller in the UK (though I Kissed A Girl and maybe even Hot N Cold would have passed a 1,000,000 if the sales climate was stronger) and peaked at #3 while becoming another #1 for Katy in America during the Teenage Dream era. I also love the video and this is one of Katy's biggest sellers/maybe even her biggest around the world! This also gets a nice little boost every Bonfire Night due to the title of the song :wub: Firework received 3 11's- and like Roar- multiple 10's (13) along with many other high scores! However a -1 and 0 stopped this from getting any higher! Who will fall next?

Just looked and I gave Roar a 9.5 which I still think is about right for me. Firework :wub: I so wish it could've been #1 on here and official chart but to see it re-enter the official chart every Firework season is still great to see :D

Next up and missing the top 2 is our last remaining single from Prism, Dark Horse! This was immediately a fan favourite and overshadowed 2nd single Unconditionally before becoming a massive hit! I'm sure this was another #1 for Katy in the states and this also peaked top 5 here with a fantastic chart run and sales that it saw it come top 20 in the 2014 end of year chart. The video is Egyptian themed and is quite good. It is annoying to see this so high and beat so many Katy greats, this is probably like would rank around 17/18 for me in this rate :( It took about 8 months for me to stop hating this and I liked it a for a while but I've never loved it which is a shame as I love most Katy singles. This received only one 11 but thirteen 10's! However once again a -1 harms the song getting higher significantly (thankfully)!

2. TEENAGE DREAM - Average: 8.92

And missing the top spot is the song I used to hate for ages, Teenage Dream, meaning E.T. has won! This is absolutely adored by practically everyone for its charm and I'm surprised to see that big of a gap between this and E.T. Of course this was another gigantic success for Katy worldwide, taking the top spot in America and peaking at #2 here in the UK with fantastic sales once again! Tbh I don't know why I gave this a 10, I think it was the realisation at the time of the rate that it finally hit me but nowadays it's more ofa 7/10 song for me. This received 5 11's- the joint most in the rate I think and once again many 10's but however a -1 from Tim who's surprisingly showing quite good taste for once and a low 4 from Jahq gave a huge blow to it's average. That means your winner is....

Wow at that average :o I know it is loved so much on here but still wow! And considering quite a few people marked it down for being the Kanye West version, imagine how high the average would have been if it was the solo version! Despite most of her collaborations struggling here, ET does fantastic and wins the rate! Anyway this was of course another number #1 for Katy in the States and was once again a top 3 hit for Katy with fantastic sales. The video is great but I really think this is such a weak Katy top 3 Buzzjack :( I'm not sure any of these 3 songs are in my top 15 Katy singles. Anyhoo this got 4 11's and about a million 10's! This only received 2 quite low scores with every other member giving this at least an 8!

Was never much of a fan of Dark Horse. Production seemed off to me and her vocals seems dreary. Teenage Dream getting 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 11s yet missing out on the top? :unsure:

E.T. seems a bit overplayed for me (well really most of her music is tbf!) but it is still a great song. I suppose both songs in the top 2 were "expected" to be in the top 2 really.

Great #1 (and very solid top 3). I don't get why people don't like the Kanye West version. I prefer it much to the original.

Firstly, excellent winner! It's my second favourite Katy single only behind the sublime 'Wide Awake' of course. It packs such a punch and the visuals are spectacular <3 Very pleased with the result for the aforementioned 'Wide Awake' too, it's always struck a huge chord with me (in my top 3 of 2012!) so a top 10 finish and a large collection of 11s feels fab for it.

 

Elsewhere, HOORAY at the dire finish for 'Part Of Me'! A prime example of 'let's write any old thing in 5 mins and see it be a hit 'cause it's you'. I've always found it SO lazy lyrically and just generally not interesting. The vid is good though.

 

On the other end of the spectrum, yay for 'Thinking Of You' majorly outperforming expectations! It's so hauntingly beautiful.

 

3 of my 10s finishing top 3 and my 11 also top 10, brilliant results. :wub:

That's the exact order for the top 5 I'd go with for personal preference too.

 

ET is FANTASTIC, so glad it was such a huge post-album smash for her around the world.

 

Teenage Dream is so joyus and fills me with sentimental feelings, a banger through and through and I always preferred it to the rather basic in comparison Firework. Dark Horse probably isn't TOP 3 for me, but is much better than Roar and Firework. #HalloweenBanger
