October 29, 20159 yr However, I'd wait for life as the third single from BW comfortably achieved another top 20 hit. I think the video to IWFL is beautiful. So meaningful and understated. Jay it reached its 'comfortable top 20 position' largely thanks to a concerted effort by the fans on their website(s) at the time. If what was said was to be believed - there were people buying 20 copies at a time (downloading and physical) for themselves and for friends/relatives who perhaps didn't even want it. I HATED IWFL - but because at the time I was one of those devoted fans - I bought a copy. I think the reason it didn't pick up any passing buyers was because (a) it wasn't a very good single (although I agree with you - the video was very good) and (b) as a song - it was a vanity project for Gary to show off his vocal talents - the other three may as well have not been there! Even me - as a massive Gary fan at the time - could see that that was glaringly obvious. I remember watching it being performed on 'An Audience With ...' and felt a bit embarrassed for Mark, Howard and Jason. The 'b' side of the single was quite chirpy little number though - so my purchase wasn't a total waste of time. A lot of people wanted 'Reach Out' to be the third single - and I agree with that. I think if Reach Out had have been released - it would have been another top 10 single for them - possibly top 5 (and it would have hung around the top 75 for at least a month - unlike IWFL which I believe dropped right out of the top 75 the week after - or was well on its way). October 29, 20159 yr Id Wait for Life is one of their worst selling singles. To date i believe it has only sold around 50,000. It most certainly is a single that most don't even know exists.
October 29, 20159 yr I definitely think Reach Out would have been better to go with. Shame that a single like IWFL did better than songs like Kidz, Let in the Sun etc
October 29, 20159 yr Kidz may have achieved a lower peak but i believe it has higher sales than Id Wait For Life. I doubt Let In The Sun has outsold it.

We All Fall Down  Should have been the a-side, I'm glad it was spruced up and added to the re-release of Beautiful World, it's certainly their best b-side that I can recall.
October 30, 20159 yr I love Trouble with Me and Sleepwalking! Me too :) They're amongst my favorites, alongside with 6 in the Morning Fool. I'm not really a fan of We All Fall Down, but that might be because I have trouble understanding the lyrics and because Mark's voice is not my cup of tea.

October 30, 20159 yr Yes! 6 in the morning fool was great too! They had a plethora of great music in the BW era. Quite liked RocketShip from Kidz. Does anyone remember 84 and Throwing Stones?
November 1, 20159 yr Just a shame that they sort of stopped after RocketShip. I think is just the movement away from physicals that has influenced their decision to stop b sides. The songs they gave to Google Play would have worked as good b sides.
November 2, 20159 yr B sides are like many other elements of the music industry are now almost a thing of the past
November 3, 20159 yr Noooo, they'll perform Hey Boy on SCD :( http://www.hellomagazine.com/film/20151103...y-come-dancing/
November 3, 20159 yr Strictly Come Dancing would boost album sales if nothing else. They could perform on both, it has happened with other acts.
November 3, 20159 yr I would prefer them to sing something other than Hey Boy - so I hope they choose to do one of the other album tracks. Sorry for all of you who like Hey Boy, but the lyrics make me cringe. It's also far too late to alter the chart position for the single in any significant way. They must be aware by now that the public don't like it, in which case they may as well promote the album, as opposed to the single.
November 3, 20159 yr Maybe a new track would be the way forward and try and pretend Hey Boy didn't happen
November 3, 20159 yr I still wonder if people don't realise it's out. Has the radio play been consistent?
November 3, 20159 yr I heard it for the first time on Radio 2 late this afternoon but I haven't heard it much on any radio station. I really see no point in promoting it on Strictly. I've seen the video and whilst it's funny in parts I don't like that either! I guess as fans we'll never like everything they put out, but I have to say this release has been pants. On the plus side, and on a purely superficial level they all look good. :)
