I have to say that. Darius can do a flawless Nu Yawk as well as anybody. W'e heard it where it was fitting... In Guys and Dolls.

However, in Funny Girl his character, Nick Arnstein, has deliberately cultivated a 'posh' accent to fit in with his glossy veneer- its one of the crucial ways in which he succeeds as dodgy businessman and outright conman.

After these do you think they'll take the hint and revise the book again to beef up Darius's part for the Savoy?

Yep - you're right. Must have been a different show. No problem hearing the music, Even though Sheridan had a cold, her singing was great. She never once tried to be Barbara but the that was then and this is now - and I prefer now. I could always do with Darius being in it a little(or a lot) more but it did work very well. How she missed the brilliant inter-action between them I just don't know. Cast and crew were fantastic. The theatre IS small but then it was before 'Funny Girl' so it shouldn't have been a surprise. I just hope to see it again before it moves.

That sounds more like the show I saw but Darius' voice should have been mentioned. Beautiful. I've put some photos on Archive and news of the performance.

Is it time for a pinned thread for just the reviews as we've done before. I think there will be more from the Menier and then from the Savoy.

Theatremates and West End Frame are also saying that the Savoy theatre run has been extended to September 10th.

I'll wait to see if Darius signs up. Bit concerned due to the production of the new film he mentioned. Films are such massive endeavours that there isn't usually much wriggle room on schedules.

The extension has also been announced by the Mail's journo - 10 weeks to September 10th. I guess the tickets for the original West End run are pretty much sold.
