Chisinau calling! Today TeleRadio-Moldova (TRM) has confirmed Moldova’s participation in Eurovision 2016. The little country always goes big on eccentricity, so naturally we are delighted.

Once again they will stage their national selection O melodie pentru Europa, with the final slated for 27 February 2016. All entries must be submitted to eurovision@trm.md by 7 December. We already know that Sasha Bognibov — he of “My Lesbian Girl” and “Wounded Swan” fame — will submit an entry.

Foreigners need not apply. This year TRM has instituted a rule stating that you must have Moldovan citizenship to take part. That means last year’s representative — the Ukrainian Eduard Romanyuta — can’t reapply, nor can Britain’s Kitty Brucknell, who generated a lot of headlines when she advanced to the semi finals last year.

On 10 December, an internal jury will select up to 50 songs for a live performance round, to be held on 19 December. It’ll be streamed live, so get comfortable. The top 24 songs will make it through to the two semi-finals, to be held on 23 and 25 February. The top 7 acts from each heat will advance to the final as a result of a jury-televote split. The public will have the chance to “save” an eighth act, meaning that 16 will compete in the final.

Kitty AGOG! Moldova have lost their way a bit lately so here's hoping they can return to the final next year.

Well submissions have been open for a month and so far the broadcaster has received ZERO submissions :')

Someone call Kitty Brucknell!

Internal selection of Sunstroke Project with some sort of rip-off of 'Day After Day' please.

Well if they WILL FORBID ME FROM ENTERING

As of a couple of days ago they are now up to THREE submissions! :cheer:

Today was deadline day in Moldova and as of this morning they had managed 7 submissions, but luckily there was a mad rush as the day went on and ESC Kaz reports we have approximately 50 submissions that will go forward into the auditions next week.

The songs are being uploaded here, and you can see we have an effort from Litesound (Belarus 2012) in collaboration with a Moldovan singer - hence being allowed due to the loophole that only 50% of the lead vocalists in an act have to be Moldovan. It's quite nice but it feels like it needs a more uplifting production in the chorus.

ESC Kaz also reports Natalia Barbu has submitted an entry, it has yet to be revealed though!

Chris Maroo – Tonight

Chriss Jeff - Good life

Cristina Pintillie – Picture of love

Diana Brescan – Till the end

Doinița Gherman – Irresistible

Nadia Moșneagu – Memories

Rodica & Ivan Aculov – Stop lying

Valentin Uzun – Mine

Valeria Pașa – Save love

Elle (the duo featuring Natalia Barbu) apparently had an argument on stage with the panel after they wanted to sing a song of theirs which was disqualified, apparently they did end up performing it but it didn't get selected (another did though).

Che-MD is far and beyond the best there. I'm a sucker for folk.

Voting
There will be a single round of voting consisting of 50% jury voting and 50% televoting. In the event of a tie, the televoting score will take precedence.

Potential Winners?
In terms of potential winners, we could say that Maxim Zavidia and Lidia Isac could be favourites after winning their respective finals although the running order draw for both of them has done them no favours. If we expect the running order to have a significant effect, then DoReDoS, Max Fall feat. Dan Vozniuc & Malloy and particularly Valeria Pașa all performed well in their semi-finals and could contend for the win. The smart money would perhaps be on Valeria after a strong second place from an early draw in the first semi-final.

Guest Performances
During the show, there will be a guest performances by 2012 Moldovan Eurovision representative Pasha Parfeny and the dance troupe Space.

Further details available at ESC Today
Will be watching in the hope Che-MD win.

Quite like this Valentin Uzun song actually.

3. Dionita Gherman - Irresistable (5.5/10)

Pretty generic, but I'll give her a point because I think she's nice on the eye.

4. Lidia Isac - Falling Stars (4/10)

From the songs I've heard over the last few days I'm rooting for Doinita and Lidia but I think they will cancel each other out, especially both being so early in the running order.

Kinda groovy, but not really my thing.
