So Avicii has 15 #1s on my chart and many more than 15 weeks spent at #1, of course my chart would look a lot different without him, so let's take a look at the songs that would have made #1 and also those that would have spent extra weeks at #1.

Rihanna - We Found Love (feat. Calvin Harris)

5-5-4-8-4-2-2-2-3-4-11-29-30-28-38-41-28-39-34-46-x-48-41-50-x

weeks where it would have been #1 are bolded

What stopped it? Avicii - Levels

The first casualty of Avicii happens to be this song, which I would have loved to put at #1 because it is one of my favourite songs ever, but 'Levels' was just too strong as it would start its 6 week domination of #1 this week (in hindsight, 6 weeks at #1 for this song was far too few) and stop Calvin from having his first #1. He would later get 2 #1s however, as features on 'Call My Name' (Cheryl) and 'Spectrum' (Florence).

Lloyd - Dedication To My Ex (Miss That) (feat. Andre 3000 & Lil' Wayne)

What stopped it? Avicii - Levels

Another great song here, well most of these are otherwise they wouldn't have charted so highly. I love the old style soul feel of this, and I'd like to think that this inspired 'Blurred Lines' which would be massive 2 years later. Although based on the court case they were definitely inspired by Marvin Gaye instead. Such a catchy song but not enough to keep Avicii off #1, obviously.

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs - Garden

weeks where it would have been #1 are bolded

What stopped it? Avicii - Levels

Now we get to the first song that was stopped for multiple weeks. 'Garden' was a song I first heard on an advert and I definitely wanted to check out the whole song and I loved it. Very unique song which sadly didn't make any kind of chart impact, but that didn't stop me from putting it on my own chart. TEED would never get another song to chart as high as this anyway, but Avicii who was at #1 would get 14 more #1s and probably even more in the future..

Nadia Ali, Starkillers & Alex Kenji - Pressure (Alesso Edit)

7-13-2-8-13-14-14-19-35-43-x

weeks where it would have been #1 are bolded

What stopped it? Avicii - Levels

One of my all time favourite progressive house songs thanks to the great vocal by Nadia and the Alesso production, but you know the story - it ran into the almighty Avicii. Nadia Ali would later be remixed by Avicii on 'Rapture' and be prevented from #1 by... um, Avicii (and then Jessie J the following week).

Taio Cruz - Troublemaker

37-43-45-3-7-11-7-11-16-18-18-33-41-x

weeks where it would have been #1 are bolded

What stopped it? Avicii - Levels (#1), Nadia Ali - Rapture (Avicii New Generation Remix) (#2)

Troublemaker isn't exactly a classic chart smash really, and it was very lucky to get as high as #3 on my chart although I did love it for a few weeks. Would probably be amongst my least favourite Thermo #1s if it got there.

Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe

16-38-x-11-8-15-11-2-2-2-8-8-13-27-19-22-12-15-16-19-19-17-18-21-28-29-25-14-15-33-38-40-x

weeks where it would have been #1 are bolded

What stopped it? Avicii - Silhouettes

Basic teen pop isn't usually my thing but this was a serious tune back in the day, although it hasn't aged the best from other big hits at the time. Its first week at #2 was when Swedish House Mafia's 'Greyhound' was spending its 5th week at #1, so it was very unlucky to miss #1. 'Greyhound' would return to #1 for one more week after 'Silhouettes' spent its 2 weeks at #1.

If Avicii never made music After I Could Be The One UV wouldn't have such a vendetta against dance music and still have ears :P :P

Fixed :P

Shame We Found Love (shocked this didn't make #1 here :o ) and Dedication To My Ex missed the top spot as absolutely adore both of them  Yay at Levels beating the awful troublemaker and Nadia Ali song :cheer:

But Call Me Maybe missing #1

Looking forward to the rest!

Vato Gonzalez vs. Lethal Bizzle & Donae'O ~ Not A Saint

5-1-1-2-3-15-10-13-37-45-x-46-x

weeks where it would have been #1 are bolded

What stopped it? Avicii vs. Nicky Romero - I Could Be The One

Vato Gonzalez spent 2 weeks at #1 early into 2013, which would have been 3 if 'I Could Be The One' didn't climb to #1. The sing would spend 5 weeks at #1 in total. Not A Saint is a banging electro house tune, of course helped by the denchtastic vocals of Lethal Bizzle who rhymes Dench with bench *.*

weeks where it would have been #1 are bolded

What stopped it? Avicii vs. Nicky Romero - I Could Be The One

Daddy's Groove got their (or his, I'm not sure) first Thermo chart hit with 'Stellar', which whilst being a cool progressive house song would've been a bit of a non-#1 had Avicii not stopped it. Worth a listen anyway

What stopped it? Avicii vs. Nicky Romero - I Could Be The One

The undeniable impact of 'Harlem Shake' was enough to keep Avicii at #2 for 2 weeks, but it would have spent a whole month non-consecutively at #1 if 'I Could Be The One' did not exist. I do wish we could get a crazy chart hit from out of nowhere like this again, such a fun song. :music:

Bastille ~ Pompeii

weeks where it would have been #1 are bolded

What stopped it? Avicii vs. Nicky Romero - I Could Be The One

'Pompeii' was not only held off from #1 by a single position in the UK but also in the Thermo chart, and it became the final casualty of the megasmash 'I Could Be The One'. They did very well to get to #2 though as indiepop usually doesn't do that well with me. It also racked more than 80 plays, and over 100 when the remixes are combined, which is a very good effort.

Daft Punk ~ Get Lucky (feat. Pharrell Williams)

1-1-1-3-2-1-1-1-2-1-3-6-4-18-6-9-15-12-15-29-26-45-x

weeks where it would have been #1 are bolded

What stopped it? Avicii - Wake Me Up (feat. Aloe Blacc)

As if 7 weeks wasn't enough, if it wasn't for 'Wake Me Up' then 'Get Lucky' would have spent 8 weeks at #1. 'Get Lucky' was my 2nd favourite song of the year, behind 'Wake Me Up', and both were released around the same time of the year; so it only makes sense that they were both in the top 2 of my chart at the same time at some point.

Poor Calvin gets another song stopped from going to #1, but it would drop 5 places the following week so maybe it wasn't all too deserved.

What stopped it? Avicii - Wake Me Up (feat. Aloe Blacc)

Chase & Status would have got their second #1 following 'Hitz' if 'Wake Me Up' didn't come along. This really shows their brilliance and as much as I'm liking their new grime single I want something like this again soon.

32-x-22-3-2-2-4-11-38-x

weeks where it would have been #1 are bolded

What stopped it? Avicii - Wake Me Up (feat. Aloe Blacc)

The highly infectious 'Jack' spent 2 weeks at #2 behind of course 'Wake Me Up'. I definitely couldn't resist such a tune even with it having not much of a melody to it.

weeks where it would have been #1 are bolded

What stopped it? Avicii - Speed / Avicii - Wake Me Up (feat. Aloe Blacc)

Kat Krazy who was sent into BJSC by myself managed to get to #3, behind two Avicii songs. It dropped 9 places the following week oops, but is still quite the tune.

Tony Junior - Twerk Anthem

3-15-19-x

weeks where it would have been #1 are bolded

What stopped it? Avicii - Wake Me Up (feat. Aloe Blacc) / Avicii - You Make Me (feat. Salem Al Fakir)

This cool bouncy song managed to debut behind 2 Avicii songs but I quickly lost interest and it really shouldn't have peaked that high in hindsight.
