If you like Placebo, what do you like about them?

For me...

- They're never afraid to think outside the box

- Their lyrics are unique and not the sort of subjects your average band write about

- Brian Molko's unique voice (yes, I realise it is a 'nasal whine' but I love it and it adds a real edge to their music)

- Ten years of consistantly solid material that I could never tire of listening to

- Witty one liners in their songs (ie "Eyeholes in a paper bag, greatest lay I ever had", "Like the naked leads the blind, I know I'm selfish I'm unkind", "Mental masturbation" and "Bite the hand that feeds, tap the vein that bleeds" to name but a few)

- A distinct catchiness in their music

- Great live performers

Bonus points:

- Great artwork on their albums and singles

- Some very, very good videos (Special K, Song To Say Goodbye, Slave To The Wage and Teenage Angst for example)

- Some of the interviews I've seen with the band have been great

Some more:

- the way Brian Molko splits every vowel

- 'Nancy Boy'

- the make-up

The way brian poses with a tab

Brian's inique singing style

eye liner!

Lyrics that aren't your usual "complaint drab" that you find in alternate music

I think everything's been said already to be honest...

Erm, their courage... Not being afraid to be who they are (gay, bi or whatever..) and being really outspoken about it as well... I like a band with some balls......

I agree fer sure. It blows away the ignorance people have that gay men can only release fluffy camp music. And also shows that gay men can basically do alternative music.

Absolutely...

Lou Reed - Gay

David Bowie - Bisexual

Rob Halford (Judas Priest singer) - Gay

Roddy Bottum (Faith No More keyboardist) - Gay

Iggy Pop - Bisexual

Michael Stipe - Gay

Bob Mould (Husker Du - seminal Boston band who influenced Pixies, Dinosaur Jr and LOADS of others, Sugar..) - Gay

Marilyn Manson - Bisexual

Trent Reznor (NIN) - Bisexual

There's a LOT of gay/bisexual men in the Alt/Metal genre.....

Gosh, I didn't know Iggy Pop or Mariyln Manson were bi

Hell yeah!! MM may be married now to Dita Von Teese, but he was putting it about a bit with both sexes when he was starting out, there have always been unconfirmed rumours going that he and Trent Reznor were, ahem, 'doing' each other when MM was a part of NIN's touring band...

Oh yeah, I forgot to say about their carefree attitude to their sexualities and the way they express sexuality in their music is really quite something.

'My Sweet Prince' from the Without You I'm Nothing album is a good example, it's a really haunting track too.
