Posted November 10, 20159 yr Wednesday 11th Nov. at 8pm, ITV1. Seems they're including the 27 No'1's that they had in the UK and US. What do you think will be voted No.1? I'll go for Hey Jude.
November 10, 20159 yr I'd guess the public would go for Hey Jude. I'd probably go Paperback Writer myself.
November 10, 20159 yr Hey Jude and Let It Be are the biggest regular sellers so presume they will be 1 and 2. Hey Jude started off my chart obsession when it hit the UK number one, so that's my preferred choice, though Eleanor Rigby is SO gorgeous I'd be happy with that one.
November 10, 20159 yr Author yesterday or hey jude for no.1 i'd think Whilst Yesterday was not a UK No.1 it was a US No.1 and on the album 1 so should be included in the list. My TV guide says "their UK and US 27 No.1's"
November 10, 20159 yr My favourite is a song that I used to dislike for a long long time (well not dislike but it certainly wasn't my favourite) and that's The Long and Winding Road (it obviously won't come anywhere in the vote). Having said that - its more like a solo song so I'm not sure it deserves to be called a Beatles song. With that in mind - I'll go for either Paperback Writer or Hello Goodbye!
November 10, 20159 yr So many of today's mainstay classics are Beatles songs, they're amazing! Is Twist and Shout an original Beatles song or a cover?
November 10, 20159 yr So many of today's mainstay classics are Beatles songs, they're amazing! Is Twist and Shout an original Beatles song or a cover? I think The Isley Brothers were the first to have a hit with it.
November 11, 20159 yr Beatles version of Twist & Shout is the definitive version imo. A group called the Top Notes were the first to record it, co- written by Bert Bern's who wrote & produced a lot of the classic soul & R&B songs of the era. Edited November 11, 20159 yr by fiesta
November 11, 20159 yr I'm doing the 60's show on my local community radio station this Saturday Morning, I may slide in the Number 1 on this survey.
November 12, 20159 yr So glad The Long and Winding Road got a look-in. Didn't think it would make it.
November 12, 20159 yr Bit of a McCartneyfest at the top - only caught the top 5. Did anyone get the full list?
November 12, 20159 yr 1. Hey Jude 2. Yesterday 3. Let It Be 4. Eleanor Rigby 5. All You Need Is Love 6. Penny Lane 7. I Want To Hold Your Hand 8. The Long and Winding Road 9. A Hard Day’s Night 10. She Loves You 11. Come Together 12. Something 13. Can’t Buy Me Love 14. Love Me Do 15. Help! 16. Ticket To Ride 17. We Can Work It Out 18. Eight Days A Week 19. Yellow Submarine 20. Hello, Goodbye 21. Lady Madonna 22. Get Back 23. Paperback Writer 24. From Me To You 25. I Feel Fine 26. Day Tripper 27. The Ballad of John and Yoko very much the wrong order for me! Bizarrely tracks that in the 70's were the biggest selling reissues, like Get Back and Paperback Writer, not to mention fab tracks like Ballad Of John & Yoko Day trpper, I Feel Fine all way down the list and their earlier stuff is way high. I would have placed Come Together or Yellow Submarine at the bottom end along with early stuff like From Me To You, She Loves You...
November 12, 20159 yr Really weird order, I agree it would look better reversed. Can't work out why Eight Days a Week is higher than many behind it either...at least I know why the boring nation went for some of the boring tracks at the top. Ah well, it don't matter...
November 12, 20159 yr Author I like Ballad Of John And Yoko too and should have been much higher. My favs though are all album tracks, A Day In The Life, Here There And Everywhere and In My Life. Edited November 12, 20159 yr by Common Sense
November 13, 20159 yr Surprised She Loves You was so high up, although it is their biggest seller its not really that good imo. Agreed that Day-tripper and Ballad Of John & Yoko should have been higher -
November 15, 20159 yr Caught up with this now! As hugely predictable a winner 'Hey Jude' is, it still remains fantastic to this day so I was glad to see it win. A pleasing finish for 'Eleanor Rigby' also! Edited November 15, 20159 yr by Jade
