November 16, 20159 yr It has been totally blown out of proportion, but that's exactly what Social Media does best: creating a hurricane in a thimble. He did f*** up though, that much is inarguable and whether I dislike him or Monica or not (I totally do), what he did was unprofessional and you could see in Monica's eyes she knew it was over then. Yes it was just an extra 10 seconds or so for her, but it shouldn't have happened. His apology though should have been enough, vilifying him as has been done is just silly. Not just in the wake of other, far more important, worldwide events, but also because the only person with any real right to be deeply irked is Monica.
November 16, 20159 yr Yeah it has been blown way out of proportion, it wasn't a mistake on the scale of Cyndi/Scooch as I think most people knew that sending Anton home would've made it 2-2, although when Olly made his original mistake before asking for Simon's vote I had to check with my dad that Cheryl had saved Monica as I thought. But it was corrected within 5 seconds and Monica saw the funny side so I don't see a big problem, and they will probably know in future to make sure to give Caroline responsibility at that point of the show or make sure the scenario is made clearer to Olly through his earpiece. Olly and Caroline were fab on Xtra Factor, and I'm sure as the weeks progress they will get better and better. I much prefer them to Dermot as while they aren't as professional, it feels much fresher and much more enjoyable than Dermot reading out the same script week in week out.

I disagree, not about the first bit but Olly and Caroline making it feel fresher, they just make me cringe at times.
November 16, 20159 yr I'd got fed up with Dermot over the past couple of years, he just said and did the same things every single week so I'd probably have been happy with anyone else presenting. But Olly and Caroline to me have infectious personalities whereas Dermot was overly professional and some of the fun wasn't there as a result. I'd rather cringe a bit and have Olly and Caroline than have Dermot and be bored, but that's just me.
November 16, 20159 yr Solution: sack them both, hire Jameela Jamil :jameela: x ACTUAL Jameela Jamil :jameela:?
November 16, 20159 yr Knowing her luck she'll be a wildcard for the final  I don't think it works with two presenters and it doesn't help that Olly isn't a natural presenter like Caroline and isn't very good... Idk what's wrong wit her though, she's not very good either and as much as I dislike the woman she's normally a competent enough presenter. Maybe they are both trying too hard. They are trying to do something different and make presenting more fun and "relaxed" It comes across as the complete opposite. Just read the autocue, smile and be natural. Don't force it. Olly just doesn't look comfortable at all.
November 16, 20159 yr Claudia Winkleman would be amazing presenting it, her off the cuff remarks on Strictly are the highlight of the show. She is the perfect blend of reading the script and adding in little funny bits.
November 18, 20159 yr I am probably going to get cussed to the nines for speaking up about this or be accused for being massively biased as I have been before on here by certain individuals, but f*** it as I'm gonna say it: there are still certain sections of the media that have wanted to take down Olly at any opportunity because they can't stand the fact he's been around as long as he has, is as well liked as he is, and successful as he is and that he has more than one string to his bow. It's what my dad calls pure tall poppy syndrome. It's why in virtually any red top freebie magazine interview of recent years his twin brother selling a story about him is constantly bought up to try and provoke a reaction, and why now they have leapt on what is a fairly trivial occurrence and blown it all up out of proportion to make him seem like someone he is really not. The fact that he was humble and gracious enough to apologise afterwards - and several times over - whilst not stooping to the level of the trolling he was receiving, and that other presenters - Dermot for one, Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby for another - have shown him their support says it all really. If you read his Twitter bio, he even says himself that he's 'jack of all trades, master of none'. He's never professed to be the absolute best at any one thing he does. But if he's massively apologetic about making a slip up on national TV and if he's found it visibly hard to do the sing offs on Sunday evening, it's because he cares and wants to do a good job. And lest any of us forget that was him in the contestant's shoes once upon a time, so he has every right to feel for them and what they're going through. Everyone has to start somewhere and learn from somewhere, and no one is perfect, even the keyboard heroes in their glass houses who are suddenly Richard and sodding Judy because he got in a bit of a muddle on a TV show.
