Marina and The Diamonds - Froot

Why:

This is Marina and the Diamonds third studio after the amazing 'The Family Jewels' and 'Electra Heart'. So there was a lot of Pressure form her to deliver. Boy did she deliver. So many underrated pop jams on the record since the album/singles did virtually nothing chart wise. The album flows really well from song to song. From start to finish you can tell this is the pop star Marina wants to be. My only criticism is that its not as good as the first two albums. However it still is a solid piece of work. If you hear some of the songs as Can't Pin Me Down she really likes to do powerful messages within her songs which add to the unique pop star Marina wants to be.

Why

: A singer who is not popular around here :( I just find his voice captivating and I can really connect with his lyrics. I think the album goes well from the beginning to end. Even if there is some songs that are a tad weak oops. I just think he is one of the most just great artists of the year for me, even shocking artists as I didn't know about him till this year.

Why

: Everything Everything provide their best album yet. So much funkiness and such a feel good album to go through all kinds of emotions. Most of the album is feel good indie jams that is sure to get your feet moving. There is too many songs I like of this album which is a GREAT thing. I just love the songs that slow down a bit too such as 'No Reptiles' So glad it was chosen as a single :heart:

Wolf Alice - My Love Is Cool

Why

: At #17 we have a album and a band that is not afraid of trying something new on a record that produced by a Grunge rock band, you expect rock anthems. But not all the album is like that. It has slow moments like 'Bros' and Freezy'. Really just a great band and breathe of fresh air to see a album experiment. Even experiment changing a old song to a different mood. Such as Bros. A lot of fans hated they changed it but I disagree I think it works better slowed down. Adds to the feeling of friendship.

Why

: Because The Vaccienes have simply done it again, brought out a smashing third album. So many Vaccines classics here for me. Dream Love and 20/20 perfect examples. Just they get so much better each album I swear. Can't fault them

The Vaccines definitely did it again, a smashing album and their best for me so far, just wish it was so much longer. Dream Lover is my highlight with Give Me a Sign second, 20/20 is a tune though.

 

Love the pure amount of bonkers on Everything Everything's album, they make it work though, I prefer their fast paced in your face nonsense the most though so I'm not a big a fan of stuff like No Reptiles as you are.

 

Enjoying this so far with all the parallels to mine.

Froot is incredible (agree with Blue and I'm A Ruin on the highlights :heart:) and I love Get To Heaven also :heart:

Why

: Beiber has done what not artist I dislike the most has done, Made me like him :lol: The album is really good and slick from each song to the next. Only 1 song I massively dislike and that's What Do You mean. Sorry and Loveyourself are amazing :heart: Such a good pop record :heart:

: Again a album that really surprised me. The first two singles are really good as they contrast each other. Love Me or Leave Me and Secret Love song are album highlights.Such a great album.

CVRCHES – Every Open Eye

Why: CHVRCHES produced an amazing first album so I was looking forward to see how the next album would be. After hearing 'Get Away' last year I was really looking foward to this era. I was not dissppointed. Lauren's haunting vocals and lovely lyrics mix well. I say album highlight was defiantly 'Clearest Blue' such a great song to jam too. The singles are good too this era :music:.

Muse - Drones

Why: As a long time Muse Fan I was edgily awaiting for their new album. We got Psycho first thats when I knew this era would be amazing. Dead Inside was great then Mercy appeared and blew me away. The whole album is really good. It may not be my favourite Muse album but it is one of my favourites I am not going to lie.

Tame Impala - Currents

Why

: Missing out on a top 10 placing we have Tame Impala's third studio album 'Currents'. I became obessed with Tame Impala on their first album and eventually they brought out a song called Let It happen which started this album campaign. Next they brought out 'Cause I'm A Man' which I sent to Buzzjack Song Contest :heart:. The whole album is transfected on the whole Psychedelic Rock/indie vibes and boy does it suit them. Lyrically the album is so unique and Kevin Parker's voice is UNREAL :heart:

Was really shocked by how good Drones was, I was never a fan of them at all before that but it was really high energy and fun, some of the slow songs kill the vibe a bit but a very good listen nonetheless and I'm definitely a converted fan now to the point where I'm anticipating the next treat we get to hear from them.

 

I love Every Open Eye loads, it doesn't really progress from the first and in that way it kind of sounds like a re-release with an extra CD added on but it definitely works for them, they worked on making the hooks even catchier, kept all the gorgeous synths and Lauren's fantastic voice sounds even better on it so for me, it's definitely an improvement on their debut :D

 

Lovely albums here, are you sure you didn't just re-order my list though? :P

Muse had a pretty amazing year as well, at least on alternative formats :P I'd say "Dead Inside" is the best on their album.
