Sirena) 16-13-9-9-40-x-49-x 06/11/2015 38 Alesso ~ All This Love (feat. Noonie Bao) 38-40-x Alesso's debut album was definitely one I had been long awaiting for and of course it delivered. Featuring a large number of hits even including 'Years' (which was already a few years (:basil:) old at the time of the album release). It was the newer songs I was listening to more though, as good as 'If I Lose Myself' and 'Under Control' are, they weren't very fresh and shouldn't have been on the album really. At least Avicii had the sense to not include all his old songs on his debut  The massive highlight of the album is of course, if you're paying attention to my chart histories, 'Cool', a big contender for one of my top 10 songs of 2015. More on that later. As well as other big favourite 'Heroes'. Other great songs on this include 'Sweet Escape' and 'All This Love' which like his previous hit singles contain Alesso's trademark progressive house sound which sounds amazing. Thankfully not all the songs sound the same though, variety is much needed for a good album. Take the more club-oriented bangers 'Payday' and 'Tear The Roof Up' which prove that he doesn't just do the more commercial sound well. Another great song here is 'Destinations', one of the few instrumentals on the album as well as being the longest song on the standard edition. It's more chill (without the Netflix) than his usual sound anyway which is cool. There are TWO more albums to come. One of them is my favourite of the year. One of them isn't. Will it be a second AOTY win for Avicii with 'Stories' or will Disclosure snatch their first win with 'Caracal'??

Nao) 24-41-x 02/10/2015 35 Disclosure ~ Afterthought 35-x Disclosure's second album also becomes their 2nd to become an AOTY contender, and whilst it's not quite as good as 'Settle' they are definitely deserving of being on this shortlist. Songs like 'Holding On' and 'Hourglass' give us the classic Disclosure sound we know and love, and 'Omen' reminds us that Sam Smith is still capable of making good music. All three could potentially be in my EOY singles chart. Their latest single 'Magnets' is great too, quite different for them too which I love. Lorde's vocals compliment it nicely too. Also despite it taking its time to get going 'Nocturnal' is another great one. The best album track for me has to be 'Echoes' however, it's really upbeat in production and just a great banger of a tune! Definitely the kind of tune I want from them. There are a few lowlights however, 'Willing & Able' and 'Jaded' particularly, but this is just about made up for the overall high standard they have. It really is a shame that they could only get a single big hit from this album, when there's so much good stuff on it!! It really was unlucky to spend just a single week at #1 in my albums chart, but a certain other album came along...
December 6, 20159 yr Author So I like 7 out of your hate chart top 10, oops! I agree Lay Me Down was made a lot worse by the clashing voice of John Legend which made it pretty unlistenable but I could still listen to the original easily, it's one of his best songs I think. Maybe his worst ballad single out of the three but I'm a big fan of his voice - glad he got two #1s this year because they were both very good. Black Magic is fantastic, the definition of perfectly crafted pop song, the verses are instantly catchy, the chorus is banging, the video is one of their best and a lot of fun and it builds really nicely to some good ad-libs that I like singing along too - they've provided two of the best girlband singles ever this year which I'd never have predicted! Hate SU+D and Love Me So though, the former was cool for about a week but it got SO ANNOYING when it became everywhere for about five months, the All of Me/Happy of this year! Would maybe be top of my worst single 2015 :POops indeed. Hopefully we snap more in the Lurv Chart. Nah his voice on a ballad track is just a turn off for me. I just find Black Magic hideously overrated :( I'm not surprised you love it anyhow. yay at some SUAD hate! :cheer: i concur with all 10 of those being amongst the very worst that 2015 has had to offer~ :puke:not surprising! :P Mostly agree with your op 10 hate chart of last year, apart from Steal My Girl which I kind of like :kink: in fact I often find myself liking oor loving most of 1D's singles but not their last few as they are kind of dull :/ I can't say I hate Hey Mama. I don't like that male voice either but calling a David Guetta song "nothing special" also shows that he's done a lot better than this... I quite like most of Union J's tracks but YGIA is quite boring so it's not that big a loss to here it here. lmao at its chart run though  "She's Kinda Hot" - agreed. Boring and no redeemable qualities from moi  Kind of like Dear Future Husband but it might be because of its comparability to Olly Murs Dance With Me Tonight which is a fab song (idk if you like that?) I also kind of don't like it at the same time because of it being a sort of ripoff of the song  Photograph another boring Ed Sheeran track :( it's a shame he can't go back to songs from Plus like The A Team, Lego House and Small Bump. I really love Afire Love from the album though. Why the feck didn't he release it? :banghead: You should of mentioned the Felix Jaehn remix of it which is such a tune :music: I've not had to misfortune to hear that FOB song :D I'm not a big fan of them or that kind of music anyway though. I don't actually mind Wasn't Expecting That :o (were you expecting this? :basil:) an example of a song I wasn't expecting to end up liking  I'm a fairly big LM fan and I like Black Magic :kink: it isn't their best and something else from them should have been #1. Definitely very overrated on the chart :/ Not heard Love Me So by I think Shut Up And Dance is a tune! Lay Me Down deffo deserving a place here but Take Me to Church is #1? :( ok, I wasn't keen on it for ages but it ended up being a grower eventually :o It is rather overrated though also.Nah I just can't at 1D. At least their singles from this era aren't as offensive as previous 'efforts'. At least you don't love Hey Mama :P I do admire 'You Got It All' for it giving us an amazing chart moment in its second-week drop  5SOS in general have no redeemable qualities imo I hated Dance With Me Tonight too, although Dear Future Husband is even worse. :banghead: I would've much preferred him to release 'Afire Love' really, much more interesting as a ballad rather than just another slushy love song. Trust me you don't want to hear that FOB song :puke: I, wait for it, wasn't expecting that :basil: :basil: :basil: #tophumous Black Magic has far too few haters  they had so much better songs before Noo @ your SUAD love -_- Take Me To Church is one of the most overrated songs ever, of course it deserves a place on my hate chart. Hoping for Jess to win looking at your number ones :heart:Oops, sadly it wasn't to be but she still keeps her title of Queen of Music!!!!!11 Above & Beyond! All Over The World is a tune :music: Jess Glynne is my #3 album this year, it's just not quite as good as Ella Eyre's :DYay someone else who appreciates A&B  Haven't heard the Ella Eyre album, I'm just not invested much in her as an artist, none of her solo songs did much for me. Alesso's album was okay but not amazing :( Jess's however was amazing :heart:Boo you and your wrong opinion :( :kink: At least there is mass appreciation for the Queen of Music in this thread *.* Forever is a stunning album and it's proved to me this year that I'm a bigger stan of Alesso's stuff than I thought *.*Alesso just keeps pumping out the good TUNES. Expect to see him in this thread again~ thanks for the comments :cheer:

Wyclef Jean & Matisyahu) 44-x Was any other album really in contention? After delivering my favourite album ever in 'True', 'Stories' quickly became the most hyped album of the year. And did it deliver? Hell yes it did *.* Having five #1 singles is a record for any album, even including 'True'!! (that had four). With amazing progressive house jams that we know and love Avicii for, like 'Waiting For Love', 'Broken Arrows' and 'City Lights' it is perfect for keeping Avicii fans happy. But of course Avicii doesn't like to stick to one sound, and we love him for it! Whether it's the reggae vibes of 'Pure Grinding', the piano rhythms of 'For A Better Day' or the mid-tempo lyric-driven 'Somewhere In Stockholm', it all manages to sound amazing. Yes, the entire album did enter my top 50. As this is such a good album here is a track by track review of it: The album couldn't get off to a better start than with 'Waiting For Love' as track 01. It is an undeniable tune and there'll be more to say on it once we reach the EOY singles chart. It having 12 weeks at #1 does mean it should definitely be a big contender for #01 of the year anyway but will it get there?? The second track 'Talk To Myself' is another big fave of the album tracks, probably not something that would get chosen as a single but obviously the quality of the album tracks are high. The subtle drop in this is quite the moment. The album then goes into 'Touch Me', and after her delivering big on multiple tracks in 'True', especially 'Addicted To You', it is great to have Audra Mae back as a vocalist. You can really feel the passion in her voice on this one and the production suits it nicely even if there's no big drop to it. 'Ten More Days' is next, one of the less amazing tracks but I do like the atmosphere on this and it fits well in the context of the album. It's then followed by 'For A Better Day'. Was it a good single choice? Definitely not in hindsight, but that doesn't stop the song itself from being great even if it took a few listens to get the hang of. Next is 'Broken Arrows', which I thought was going to be the big post-album hit of the era but it feels like the underperformance of FABD led to this getting no proper push or radio support. More on these tracks later. Then, 'True Believer', which I like the title of as it references the masterpiece that is 'True'. Plus it features Avicii's own singing voice *__* as well as help from Chris Martin of Coldplay, making for an all-round great song and another album track highlight. The best album track however is the next track, 'City Lights', in which Noonie Bao is the guest vocalist. As she also was in all-time fave 'I Could Be The One' I definitely expected this to be amazing and it lived up to those expectations, even snatching a week at #1 in my chart! 'Pure Grinding' follows, which I love for how different it is to his other stuff yet he manages to make it WORK as a song. Then, 'Sunset Jesus', another great even if a little bit uninspired (it re-uses the drop of Avicii's 'Dear Boy' remix). The lowlight of the album is next, 'Can't Catch Me' isn't too great as there's barely a drop and the verses drag a bit. At least I don't dislike it anyway. Luckily this is followed by the amazing 'Somewhere In Stockholm', which although it isn't even a dance song really connects with the very personal lyrics and the catchy sing-along factor of the chorus. 'Trouble' follows, not a highlight but pretty good and uses the Avicii country-dance formula well. It would be even better if it went into synths and stuff in the drop but the acoustic feel is quite nice. To end the album there is 'The Nights', a song I wasn't too big on but of course I like it. The Avicii remix of it is even better though. Before that, there is 'Gonna Love Ya' which sees Avicii experiment with a tropical-house tempo whilst keeping his some of his usual production styles too. The drop is quite ~sick too. Really, all round an excellent album. Amazing effort.   The EOY singles chart will commence next weekend.
December 7, 20159 yr Hi Dan Listened to Stories once and never went back to it, such a disappointment following True which I have sitting pretty on my CD shelf. Not sure what went on but everything just became SO boring, enjoyed the new reggae tracks but that was all that was new really. Caracal was a little bit of disappointment and much like Avicii, I own the first album and won't be getting this but I did like this a fair amount still. A tried and tested formula but at least the synths still sound energetic here and not mellowed. Not sure why it took them so long to release Magnets though.. Jess Glynne would be my choice from your shortlist, a lovely voice and some great uptempos to match the great singles. She isn't half bad at ballads either.
December 7, 20159 yr The Jess Glynne album is fantastic, so many amazing songs  Ew at that album winner but not surprising

December 14, 20159 yr Good to see two of my BJSC entries already making the top 250 :cheer: The Faithless 2.0 flop though :P It didn't peak at #4 for me but I think it had more longevity in my chart. It got a lot of hate on Youtube for it but I guess everyone's just complaining that Avicii "ruined" it -_- but I like it even if the original is still a lot better.
December 14, 20159 yr hi Dan Glad to see When The Beat Drops Out in here, still prefer the remix that I sent to BJSC but it grew on me all over again when it got released properly, love a good steel drum  Glad to see MNEK getting a mention too, doubt that song will appear in many lists on here but it was quite an interesting track, loved the high-energy drop in it and he is good vocalist - obviously he kept what was good and made it better in Never Forget You though so hope to see that making an appearance later in the countdown! :D
