Jeremih's first of two entries here both of them as a featured artist. This was initially a jam from BJSC but then crossed over to the mainstream and continued to be a jam. Jam jam jam. Cool Whitney Houston sample and overall very catchy song.

Commentary

Blonde started their UK chart history with 'I Loved You', which oddly didn't chart at all for me. I don't know why it doesn't connect with me much but it just don't. Anyway they followed it up with 'All Cried Out' which was a lot better. It's just the kind of commercial house that I like and with a good vocal too. Not much to say about this really it's just a feel-good bopp.

yay for the Disclosure love, the album's not Settle good but it doesn't get enough love.

SRTW is indeed underrated. I guess it's a bit to subtle to be a hit though, never expected it to smash much.

Commentary

Justin finally got his first Thermo-chart hit as a lead artist this year with 'What Do You Mean?' which marked the start of his massive chart domination. And I'm not surprised it's done so well, it's a great catchy song with a light tropical house beat. It really sums up the sound of 2015 uptempo chart music. I don't want to use the term Belieber cos it's cringey but it has helped make me somewhat of a fan. It's good to see he's not doing cheesy teenpop like the still terrible 'Baby' anyway.

Commentary

Legendary progressive house producer Eric Prydz gave us another amazing song this year in the form of 'Tether', a reworking of the CHVRCHES song. It just has all the elements of a great classic Prydz tune so unsurprisingly I loved it although it for some reason grew off me fairly quickly hence the short chart run. That doesn't mean the song's bad though, far from it otherwise it wouldn't be in my chart!

Blonde ft Alex Newell - Banger :music:

Eric Prydz ft CHVRCHES - Good song although you might like Four Tet's remix of Opus seems like something you would like :D

WWWY/IDM/Hourglass were just ok for me, I like the Somebody but I was never big on it unfortunately. All Cried Out is another great tune from Blonde  and What Do You Mean is a great track from Bieber this year and has turned a lot of us non-fans/haters to actual fans :o he really needs to keep this sound going  but I agree, I'm never using the term "belieber" anyway that gets its name from a previous album so it doesn't really fit :P

Tether :music: this flopped iirc :(

Commentary

So for whatever reason Sia decided to re-release 'Elastic Heart' and fortunately it actually became a big chart smash. It also properly re-grew on me, eventually matching its #11 peak from initial release. She just has such a good voice and when put to a fab song like this or Chandelier it really works. The lyrics are strong too, well those that I can actually decipher. It's a great empowerment anthem really, "you won't see me fall apart cos I got an elastic heart" is a great ending to the chorus. To end on a sad note, unfortunately nothing from her new album 'Songs I'm Singing Cos Other People Rejected Them' has been very good so far.

28/08/2015 26 Philip George & Anton Powers ~ Alone No More 47-29-26-34-46-x

Commentary

The first of two Philip George songs in the countdown is poor unreleased 'Afraid To Love', which I'm sure would have done as well as 'Alone No More' in the official chart if not better. It's another great catchy house song, many of those were released this year. The chorus is just really great, especially the final one when the singer really puts his all in it. Also the drop has piano chords in it. I love piano chords  It's quite similar to Blonde's 'All Cried Out' really but it just does its job slightly better.

Commentary

Kove came back with a banging tune that basically acted as this year's DJ Fresh/Rudimental/Sigma tune seeing as they were producing below-standard recently. The strings are great, the beat is energetic and fast-paced, and Moko delivers an excellent vocal. It was great to hear her on a track again after 'Your Love' from last year spent 5 weeks at #1. This of course isn't quite that good but it does end up as my #01 drum n' bass song of the year in a year where the genre has otherwise been a bit disappointing.

Tether :music: this flopped iirc :(

I think Beliber was a term before the Believe album happened.

I thought Radio 1 would get behind Tether on their daytime shows because of CHVRCHES but it was not to be :( I think they gave it decent nightime support cos it went top 100 on iTunes when it got released.

thanks~~

Commentary

Who better to start the 2nd quarter of the Hot 100 than the queen of sass herself? *.* Yes I'm still trying to make Vassy, Queen of Sass a thing. It's not gonna be a thing is it? Especially when this flopped a lot in BJSC. Oh well it's just such a fun song and I love her attitude. The lyrics are on point too, she makes it so clear she's not to be messed with. The drop is quite generic big room but it's just undeniably banging and goes so well with the feel of the song.

Commentary

Every so often you get a house song that uses sounds you had no idea existed. Like this one, which gives the song its proper freshness. It instantly hooks you from the first few seconds and then little melodic pattern comes in and repeats itself all throughout the song. But the song builds on it so well, and at just over 2 and a half minutes leaves you wanting more giving it a really good replay-ability factor. Zonderling won't be a one-hit wonder in my chart for long too as they have a new song out now which should impact my chart this week which is also great. Definitely one to look out for next year.

06/11/2015 02 Martin Garrix ~ Poison 50-4-4-2-4-6-5-*

Commentary

Martin Garrix appears again with 'Poison', which is still doing big things in my chart so it is quite unlucky it got released so late into the year otherwise it could've gone a bit higher in the chart. As it is now though I feel this is the position it deserves. It's the near-perfect example of a progressive house instrumental, which takes influence from his previous 'Forbidden Voices' but makes it even better. The song starts immediately with the buildup which I love with amazing melody and synths. And even better is the really punchy drop which makes for a fab listen every time.

Commentary

Lady Leshurr delivers some next-level BANTER here with the quotable 'Queen's Speech 4', which speaks of the importance of brushing your teeth. Which is actually a good message to be sending out to the kids. Not that that was her intention I imagine. It just does the whole grime freestyle thing better than 'Shut Up' as good as that is, for its amusement factor and great lyrics. The beat's really good too, definitely one I find myself 'durh durh durh'ing along to.

Sia - So good my fave from this year

Phillip George - I do love this

Kove ft Moko - Love her vocals in this

Lady Leshurrr - BRUSHH YOUR TEETH :cheer: :funky: :music:

What Do You Mean?  The way that song (and his other 2015 singles) has converted haters to massive fans is incredible. I loved his old stuff anyway but this new sound really suits him and his progression as an artist is quite astonishing to see.
