Thinking out loud, I must have a quarter million on me right now...

102.) Nicki Minaj f/Drake & Lil Wayne - "Truffle Butter"
Chart Points: 5401
4th single, The Pinkprint
Chart Run: 48-37-29-24-20-14-12-14-18-30-48 (19 weeks)

For this to get only (heh puns) a lyric video treatment despite being a fully-fledged single was just madness. Anyway, this ended up becoming a single out of nowhere, merely because it was never listed among the original track list of the album. This song doesn't follow the traditional structure of most songs on the radio, mainly because you keep trying to guess the hook within the lyrics. It's a bit more like your standard mixtape song in which the hook lies within the instrumental of the song. The "Thinking out loud" party really get to me because it almost seems like it's introducing each artist. Despite "The Night Is Still Young" still coming up and having a higher peak, I like this song better.

Ariana_Grande_-_Love_Me_Harder.png

101.) Ariana Grande f/The Weeknd - "Love Me Harder"
Chart Points: 5409
4th single, My Everything
Chart Run: 1-2-1-2-3-4-1-3-6-3-4-4-4-6-7-7-8-12-16-20-24-33-44 (23 weeks (9 in 2015))

And just missing out on the top 100 by a hair is the first of three Ariana Grande songs in the countdown. This was previously my second favorite song of 2014, just in between "Problem" and "Break Free" (which both set records during that year), and this also set the record for most weeks in the top 10, previously held by two Conor singles, "She Looks So Perfect", and the first two singles off My Everything. This is the second-highest pointed song of all time in my chart, only trailing "Break Free" (which almost pushed 30,000 by the end of its run). Clearly I just can't go a year without Ariana stanning. Anyway, this was by far the biggest standout of the album and I went crazy when this was announced as a single. Mind you that I was inside my dorm during that time and I had the same reactions to "Dark Horse". It was a nice side of Ari that we got to see and I'm glad it did so well in the US.

Game Plan: I will begin announcement of the top 100 today, but I will also be including listing the 50 biggest albums! Been a big year for Zedd, Selena & 5H, but who will win the war?

Pony is a GENIUWINE tune :music:

Fun's quite a fun song :basil:

SOMETHING NEW  the Robin Schulz remix though :johnny:

Do iIt Again = v good, Cool was a big grower for me :yahoo:

Lips are M though.. nah doesn't do anything for me.

Like Truffle Butter and LMH too :funky:

yay for Something New and Cool representing minor dance smashes here

Truffle Butter sounding great too, forgot that existed and kinda passed me by at the time.

Great countdown so far, Cody.

Frustrating 'Love Me Harder' didn't go Top40 in the UK.

100.) Thomas Jack - "Rivers" (original + Nico & Vinz)
Chart Points: 5597
Non-album single
Chart Run: 39-27-19-15-14-13-16-23-32-39-39-41-47 (13 weeks)

Kicking off the top 100 is another BJSC entry that ended up getting a revamp a bit late into its run. Most remember I sent Thomas Jack and got creamed by two of my other potentials which went top 10. Turns out it pretty much secured that bad luck rep: #13 peak, 13 weeks on the chart. Anyway, the reason why I ended up being so proud of it was because it was the one song that had the most potential to become a hit beyond BJSC, and I'm hoping that the version with Nico & Vinz does get pushed because it would totally make up for missing top 20 (and it will prove once again that I was right). Of course expecting it to pull a Listenbee and totally miss the mark in the UK.

He was also at USC a while ago  The college impakt *.*

Used_to_Love_You.png

99.) Gwen Stefani - "Used To Love You"
Chart Points: 5639
Lead single, TBA
Chart Run: 47-33-28-24-16-13-13-9... (8+ weeks)

I am pretty sure al of us are still waiting for that proper Gwen Stefani comeback after the last one... fell flat on its butt worldwide. The now proposed lead single for her upcoming third solo album, Gwen channels the emotional roller coaster that was the fourth quarter of the year and out came this. It's one of her most heartfelt songs yet and I almost burst into tears whenever she performs this. It's strange because it looked like it was going to be a successful campaign for her: AMA performance, The Voice performance, slowly breaking through pop radio, and now with further research, all of that has somehow stopped. Which is a shame since it's been hailed as one of her best songs yet.

Slay Thomas jack but prefer the original :D
The original video got taken down by Thomas himself in order to promote the N&V version. AirWaveTV still has the original I believe.

The_Hanging_Tree_(The_Hunger_Games)_Single_cover.png

98.) James Newton Howard f/Jennifer Lawrence - "The Hanging Tree"
Chart Points: 5723
2nd single, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Chart Run: 38-22-16-14-12-14-13-9-16-36 (10 weeks)

The soundtrack for Mockingjay Part 1 spawned two singles - one of them by Lorde (which didn't do anything), and another one being one of the two original singles written by Suzanne Collins as part of the story canon. There is some sort of brilliance to J-Law's indie-esque voice, and it really makes this entire scene sequence so much more meaningful, especially with the dam bombing. It's a haunting tale of bonding with others to the death. The lyrics, when alone, seem very morbid, but with the story just make sense because it's the situation that Katniss and co. were in. This also randomly appeared in the Halloween BJSC spin-off, so obviously this was going to get my 18.

Tinashe_-_Player_(Official_Single_Cover).png

97.) Tinashe f/Chris Brown - "Player"
Chart Points: 5781
Lead single, Joyride
Chart Run: 43-42-32-24-18-15-11-12-12... (9+ weeks)

The ever sexy Tinashe lands a spot in the countdown with another Chris Brown feature that ended up peaking higher than his actual lead single this year. While this deserved much more than a #11 peak for 2015 IMO, this spells a lot of high expectations for what Joyride could be. Of course, what would a Tinashe single be without a video that encompasses her incredible dancing - this woman is just talented throughout, and this is the genre for her. The production of this is very slick and sexy, and something about Chris Brown's part just gives it that edge that puts it past the other female R&B gems. See, Buzzjack? He's good for something.

She's_Kinda_Hot_by_5_Seconds_of_Summer.png

96.) 5 Seconds Of Summer - "She's Kinda Hot"
Chart Points: 5931
Lead single, Sounds Good Feels Goood
Chart Run: 47-31-27-26-19-18-18-12-16-22-32-45 (12 weeks)

The year before, 5SOS landed a spot in my top 10 songs of 2014 with "She Looks So Perfect" (which also had one of the best videos that year). It's a bit surprising to see them not even reach top 50, let alone only scrape top 100 this year, considering this entire second era was basically teen punk. It was a big year for 5SOS; they were grabbing performance slots like no other and they did deliver. It has the structure of those early Blink songs (Adam's Song comes into mind), in which the verses are playful and the chorus just goes 5 times as hard. There's also an article in which the boys address the comparisons to MCR's "Teenagers", which further solidified the point I made during the "Hey Everybody" write-up.

The_Heart_Wants_What_It_Wants_Selena_Gomez_cover.png

95.) Selena Gomez - "The Heart Wants What It Wants"
Chart Points: 5942
Lead single, For You
Chart Run: 18-1-2-2-2-2-5-3-5-5-7-11-14-18-22-30-40 (17 weeks (9 in 2015))

The first of four Selena Gomez entries on here: Yeah, that's right. Four of her songs are in the top 100. This song served as the lead single to her first Greatest Hits compilation, her last album before officially switching to Interscope Records to begin recording Revival. Now, I could just post what I said about "Used To Love You" because they're pretty much the same premise (extremely emotional ballad that gets hyped to the extreme and makes people cry whenever performed), except Selena addresses the confusion of feelings after a breakup. Like I feel you: you were pretty much broken after Bieber went off the deep end. This song really kicked off the maturity level that was started with Stars Dance (which is among my favorite albums of all-time), and we'll get to more of that when the Revival singles appear. Spoiler alert: you probably won't see them for a while.

The_Weeknd_-_Earned_It_(Official_Single_Cover).png

94.) The Weeknd - "Earned It"
Chart Points: 6365
Lead single, Fifty Shades of Grey: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Chart Run: 45-30-29-24-24-16-13-12-14-19-26-40 (12 weeks)

Next up is The Weeknd, whose next entry earns my personal award for thirstiest video. Like there was more booty action and climax in four and a half minutes than there was in the entire movie. Anyway, this proved to be The Weeknd's biggest solo hit at the time, and back then no one other than those who have heard his mixtapes and previous album have known what he was capable of ("Wicked Games"  ). It's produced like a waltz, a rare move nowadays, especially within the pop mainframe, but somehow with the hype of the album and the man's undeniable talent, it managed to click enough to become the most played song in the US at one point.

93.) "Lost Frequencies - Are You With Me?"
Chart Points: 6410
Non-album single
Chart Run: 45-40-28-23-23-17-18-13-14-15-19-22-28-37-45 (12 weeks)

Leave it to Lost Frequencies to make a country song enjoyable, let alone listenable. So I checked out the Easton Corbin version and surprisingly, for a country ballad it wasn't half bad. It's a lot better than the stuff Luke Bryan puts out. From prior research I found out that Nelly brought this gem to Buzzjack by means of BJSC, but for us newbies who didn't join until 2015, we didn't hear this until word got out that this was smashing its way through Europe and the next target was the UK. It became one of my core songs to enjoy my last day at Barcelona with, along with "Ain't Nobody (Loves Me Better)". This is a beautiful rendition of the original, and needless to say, it gave it a bit of life.

Hozier_Take_Me_to_Church.jpg

92.) Hozier - "Take Me To Church"
Chart Points: 6419
Lead single, Hozier
Chart Run: 47-41-41-42-31-20-18-18-18-18-17-13-15-15-18-23-31-35-42-50 (20 weeks (13 in 2015))

Actual footage of me seeing this song begin to smash in the US:

1395ddb81300c345bf14acd35cd5b9a6.gif

Aaaaaaanyway... This was another one of those surprise hits that only came to me because everyone and their mother (at least in the US) decided to stan for it. It sounds like something that I would hate but there's something about this song that makes me love it. It starts off like a waltz similar to "Earned It", but it doesn't carry through with it during the chorus, which surprised me. It's a very emotional piece, and of course, that would make it a perfect song to perform or present on TV. I mean, covers on prime time shows? The Voice and Dancing With The Stars using it in performances? (By the way, Rumer Willis KILLED IT during that performance). Of course, that gave it a second life, which helped its longevity. I get why some people would hate this because it's a bit too slow, but it's beautiful and I'm proud of it.

If only its chart run wasn't split between two years...

The hills have eyes, who are you to judge?

The_Hills_single_cover.jpg

91.) The Weeknd - "The Hills"
Chart Points: 6462
2nd single, Beauty Behind The Madness
Chart Run: 36-33-24-20-19-16-16-11-15-22-31-38 (12 weeks)

My GOD, if there was an award for who could get the most slow songs to get into my head, that award would go to this guy. This is "Wicked Games" part 2, but with some kind of darker aura. I mean, HE BLEW UP A CAR IN THE VIDEO! The low peak of this compared to stuff like "Can't Feel My Face" (which is still to come) is the fact that I was getting into The Weeknd overload, and only all of his singles peaking before the next one came in would cure me of that. This is a song that will get spammed to no end and I would still not get tired of it.

*THE TOP 50 ALBUMS OF 2015*

The albums will be listed a bit differently: the albums will be listed in groups of five until we reach the top 5 albums. While full-length albums will get three recommendations, the EP's listed will only receive one. Not all recommendations will be singles.

http://i.imgur.com/AZ7dWkO.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/hIm4CUO.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/Lwa3TIf.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/PqhEnCl.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/yU9eCZW.png

50.) Ne-Yo - Non-Fiction
Cody Recommends: "She Knows" | "Who's Taking You Home" | "Integrity"

49.) Twenty One Pilots - Blurryface
Cody Recommends: "Lane Boy" | "Doubt" | "Fairly Local"

48.) The Prodigy - The Day Is My Enemy
Cody Recommends: "Rebel Radio" | "Wild Frontier" | "Nasty"

47.) Charlie Puth - Some Type Of Love EP
Cody Recommends: "Suffer"

46.) Yellow Claw - Blood For Mercy
Cody Recommends: "In My Room" | "Higher" | "Bun It Up"

Ne-Yo kicked off the first album chart within the top 5 and that was mostly because of my infatuation with "She Knows". That's still to come in the singles countdown. In the opposite end of the spectrum is Twenty One Pilots. I would name just about every song as a recommendation, but I picked these three because they transcend its main genre and, in the case out "Doubt", musical era. The Prodigy stick to what they know with their album, which still worked wonders, though it didn't beat the fantastic masterpiece that is Invaders Must Die. The first EP on the list is Charlie Puth's, a bit of a placeholder for whenever he releases Nine Track Mind, and Yellow Claw wraps up this group at #46. Lots of standard trap but with some blended elements. "In My Room" is the standard rhythmic crossover.
