Big Sean f/E-40 - "I Don't F*ck With You" Chart Points: 6503 Lead single, Dark Sky Paradise Chart Run: 47-40-41-37-28-23-21-13-9-6-7-11-17-22-34-48 (16 weeks (10 in 2015)) cZaJYDPY-YQ This is probably the most shameless song I have ever encountered, and everything about this song makes me bubble with excitement and start rapping at the top of my lungs. I thought there wasn't that much to love about Big Sean past "Dance (A$$)" but of course he comes out with this shameless anthem. Originally made as a diss to Naya Rivera, he muses about exes wanting to get with him even after the fact. I believe he also praises Ariana in this song as well. From that, it evolved into something even bigger - a giant party anthem and a breakup anthem for those guys who are tired of being pushed around by the endless girl power breakup songs that pit the male gender as the main villain of society. For that, I'd say it's a refreshing rebuttal.

If it weren't for him and the Freddie Mercury-ish vocals, I don't think I would love this song as much as I do now. It's basically "Uptown Funk" meets the proposed hidden sequel to "White Walls" but with a central motif that both songs lack: mopeds. The video is just as crazy as this song with Eric on a giant chariot, Mack dancing, and of course those three rapper big shots whose names I don't care to know. Every single performance of this has heightened my appreciation of this song, and for me, it actually makes me appreciate the type of soul that I've only heard on those old school hip-hop stations. So chill the f*ck out, mow your damn lawn and sit the hell down because this song is just a giant roller coaster.

I legit thought that this was going to be "Barbra Streisand" part 2 when I first heard this so to see it become so successful in the UK and Australia was a nice surprise. It took all the parts of the sample that made it very classic and refined, then blended it with the modern and catchy beats that they've thrown at the public with the album, and I have never been so impressed with a dance outfit for doing that since "It's You".

Nick Jonas - "Chains" Chart Points: 6735 2nd single, Nick Jonas (X2) Chart Run: 46-44-34-27-19-17-15-12-10-13-17-25-33-43 (14 weeks) U8UX2bbCHJw The first time I heard this song was around July of 2014, when "Jealous" didn't even come to fruition, and it was said that this was going to be the lead single of his debut album. It was a more hard-hitting song than I was accustomed to and it was a bit more R&B than his Nick Jonas & the Administration stuff, so I was kinda intrigued. It got to me at first but I kinda forgot about it when they decided to move lead single status to "Jealous". Like its predecessor, "Chains" also got a remix with some hot new R&B talent (in this case Jhenè Aiko, who totally steals the show), and it spent a week in the top 10 on the chart. There was also the Audien remix that I really got into. Both him and Audien have a song left on the chart. Why they decided to film another video I will never get.

(9+ weeks) w-5PHBFLMLk (OMG THERE'S A MUSIC VIDEO FOR THIS NOW ~) I found this song through a mid-day mix on my local radio station while I was in the car and the first thing I thought was what the name of it was. I knew Sleepy Tom through "Pusher" which was one of my potentials for BJSC (which I found through A-Trak's record label), but I was unsure whether he was going to have some new stuff out. Then this happened. I had a feeling it was going to smash somewhere but I didn't know where, then I found out it was going to impact in the UK. It eventually reached top 10 there which was amazing. Diplo has honestly killed it this year, and I'm awaiting more from him.
January 8, 20169 yr Author I picked up my crown, put it back on my head... 85.) Madonna - "Living For Love" Chart Points: 7402 Lead single, Rebel Heart Chart Run: 28-21-13-11-8-9-11-21-27-35 (10 weeks) u9h7Teiyvc8 (cue the "Madonna is old" comments ~) Small anecdote to begin: I remember my friend from high school saying that her mom got tickets to a Madonna concert. I asked which one and it was one of the shows for her MDNA tour. Anyway, it took me a while after the leak for me to fully get into this song, but right when she performed it at the Grammy's, the visuals stuck with me so much that I didn't just get into it, I grasped it with all my might. Of course the same can't be said about Madonna when she fell at the Brit's. Yeah, probably one of the best TV moments of last year. Anyway, it had a strong message and the video was her conquering her inner demons so the light satanic references are allowed here. :kink:

Twenty One Pilots - "Stressed Out" Chart Points: 7474 3rd single, Blurryface Chart Run: 29-9-1-1-1... (5+ weeks) pXRviuL6vMY Here is the first of the many #1's of 2015 - albeit with only five charting weeks counting toward the year. It's shaping up to become one of the biggest songs on my chart though, so I guess you can call me a stan now. :) Now I like this song not for its quirky production, not because it goes with my personality, but because of its lyrics: IMO this song has some of the most beautiful lyrics of all-time. It's an ode to the simpler times when our innocence wasn't ruined by thoughts of stress and the turmoil of adulthood. When we were kids, what did we have to worry about? The only thing we thought was bad was staying up past our bedtime. We thought going to space would make so much money. Young and naive we were, but now that we're older we yearn for those times. Its their lyrics that have made me appreciate the duo for what they're worth.

This is the only promo single to make it within the top 100. This song features Bahari, an indie girl band also responsible for another BJSC potential of mine. It was a time after Zedd co-produced a few songs on ARTPOP so that kinda contributes to why the first drop sounds a bit like a sped up "G.U.Y.". I could honestly just copy and paste what I said about this song during the True Colors rate, but that would be cheating a bit. It was the only Zedd song that didn't make the top 5 on the chart this year (other than "Break Free", but tha let already peaked at #1). He has three other singles to come; will one of them be the #1 song of 2015?

Anyway, my sister played this in the car at one point and it instantly became my favorite of the album. Everyone somehow detests this song due to overexposure and the fact that Ed Sheeran somehow equates to sleep inducing pills or something, but I don't care because it's one of the most beautiful things he's made. He's also a pretty good dancer, not gonna lie.
January 9, 20169 yr Author I might only have one match, but I can make an explosion... 81.) This one I found on the radio but was too reluctant to play this on plug for fear that it may be too adult contemporary for the chart. Then when Lee started playing it everyone went nuts over it. Okay then. To be fair, it never really clicked with me until the summer so I had nothing to lose with it. It was a pretty refreshing #1 (and one that I would not escape from and groan immensely when it played on the radio), so overall I'm pretty pleased with its success. The one thing I fear about Rachel is that she might become a one-hit wonder. Let's hope "Stand By You" will do wonders.

Lana Del Rey - Honeymoon Cody Recommends: "Music To Watch Boys To" | "High By The Beach" | "Honeymoon" We got Kelly Clarkson's most recent album at #45. Not incredibly stellar but still pretty good. Prince Royce's first English album lands at #44. Of course "Back It Up" would be the main recommendation - it's the song that have me interest in this album. We got Ciara at #43, which is just the perfect blend of slow R&B jams and the dancey bops that we know her for. It's pretty clear why Alesso's among the top 50 albums, but it seems like he should be higher... Lana Del Rey wraps up this next bunch with her continuous venture into the noir.
January 9, 20169 yr Thinking Out Loud is underrated on Buzzjack I think (obviously not in real life). Such a gorgeous, heartfelt song and Ed's vocals are perfect.

Anyway, while it falls short of the endless power and bliss its pop predecessors possess, it still gives an air of euphoria on its own. That chorus and the middle 8 build-up are simply amazing and while I'd like for every pop song to have it, alas it's not meant to be. I also find this one of the more underrated Nicki singles due to it being outshined by the giant pop hits and not doing so well.
January 10, 20169 yr Author Showing out with her home girls hypnotizing all the dudes... 79.) Ne-Yo f/Juicy J - "She Knows" Chart Points: 8058 2nd single, Non-Fiction Chart Run: 46-34-26-18-9-7-9-11-16-25-33-47 (12 weeks) Fk1ZO_980DI This song is responsible for one of Juicy J's best raps EVER. Everything about his part in this song is just slick and worded to perfection. I particularly like, "eviction notice: now you gonna have to make a move" line as it was just perfectly executed. Anyway, I appreciate this song because Ne-Yo realized that this was the time in his career when recreating his best lead single over and over again isn't gonna cut it. So then he releases "Money Can't Buy" which didn't really do anything, then does a complete 180 and releases a ratchet anthem that I could not resist. And JESUS CHRIST that was probably his best move ever. It brought me back to his early days when he only made slow R&B jams.
January 10, 20169 yr Author Tonight, I feel my courage breaking... http://i.imgur.com/XexG2rt.jpg 78.) A-Trak f/Andrew Wyatt - "Push" Chart Points: 8203 Non-album single Chart Run: 50-43-32-27-12-12-10-10-10-14-21-29-40 (13 weeks) v-Wo60o7Ig4 Now, I loved "Barbra Streisand"; it's probably one of the best dance tracks ever. I loved "It's You" and I guess "Big Bad Wolf" is okay. And that was pretty much my problem with A-Trak before - everything he made that had top notch quality I only heard because of Duck Sauce. Then he comes out with this song which is basically another DJ taking a trip on the melodic house bandwagon, and for some reason I was drawn to it immensely. Now, though it may not be my favorite BJSC track, I'm proud that I got to discover another side of me that I never thought I'd see for that contest. The song also features Miike Snow frontman Andrew Wyatt who's pretty much the dance vocalist version of The Weeknd meets the lead singer from Passion Pit. I liked "Animal", so I had some pretty high hopes for his vocals. This track is SEXY.
