#178: Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - In The Heat Of The Moment

Year of release: 2014

Chart Run: {72-x12-49-56-66-82-78-69-66-93-x3-71-42-55}

Peak: #42

Weeks on top 100 in 2015: 11

At #178 we have Noel Gallagher and his Flying Birds with In The Heat Of The Moment. This didn't make much waves in the singles chart when released in 2014, but it definitely grew on me this year, spending a few weeks in my chart.

#177: Years & Years - Border

Year of release: 2015

Chart Run: {46-50-62-69-79-76-69-80-83-87-96-99-84-75-77-80-84-89-87-84-87-96-95-83-36...}

2015 Peak: #46

Weeks on top 100 in 2015: 24

Next we have another track from Communion called Border, which entered my chart at #46 upon the album's release, and managed to finish the year without having dropped out, which, for a track having not hit the top 40, is quite impressive. It did eventually make the top 40, at #36, in the first week of 2016.

#176: Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water

Year of release: 1970

Chart Run: {75-x18-96-64-78-96-94-90-96-x28-100-93-x6-33-70...}

Peak: #33

Weeks on top 100 in 2015: 10

It was the 45th anniversary of this masterpiece's creation, and what does it get as a present? It gets brutally murdered, along with then 10 year-old Fix You, by The Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Choir. And they don't even get royalties (as A Bridge Over You was a charity single). So, as a possible form of consolation, it makes me end of year of end top 200. It may not be much, but it's a much better anniversary gift in my opinion.

#175: Electric Light Orchestra - Mr. Blue Sky

Year of release: 1977

Chart Run: {13-19-28-40-40-48-52-52-52-59-56-56-61-85-96-x61-80-36-44-51-59-68-79-80-75-80-85-28-20-25-46...}

2015 Peak: #20

Weeks on top 100 in 2015: 14

2014 EOY: #90

From one 70's classic straight to another, at #175 we have Electric Light Orchestra with Mr. Blue Sky. Following the announcement of Alone In The Universe, this shot back into the top 40 for a week, with Wild West Hero just outside at #42, while When I Was A Boy entered at #1. Following Jeff Lynne's performance of When I Was A Boy and this, a performance only beaten by Little Mix's show-stopping performance of Love Me Like You, Mr. Blue Sky zoomed back into the top 40, where it remained for three weeks.

#174: LunchMoney Lewis - Bills

Year of release: 2015

Chart Run: {84-53-32-24-29-32-34-33-33-25-32-41-58-65-74}

Peak: #24

Weeks on top 100: 15

A bit of a marmite track, but I'm definitely on the love it side. Although it only got as far as #24, it spent 9 weeks in the top 40. The song's topic is something all of us can relate to, and it's just fun.

#173: Taylor Swift - Style

Year of release: 2014

Chart Run: {81-79-72-50-50-55-58-64-67-74-91-97}

Peak: #50

Weeks on top 100: 12

It's a shame I never charted this in my top 40, as I like a lot more than this run suggests. It may not be the best single from this era (that is without a doubt "Wildest Dreams") but it's still good. And a lot better than Bad Blood.

#172: Taylor Swift - Blank Space

Year of release: 2014

Chart Run: {28-34-46-46-34-39-56-58-61-47-47-39-50-61-77}

2015 Peak: #39

Weeks on top 100 in 2015: 9

Taylor Swift again, this time with Blank Space. This is another great track from 1989, and although it had a rather fast descent down the official chart, a 10 week stay in the top 10 is nothing short of impressive.

#171: Sigma feat. Labrinth - Higher

Year of release: 2015

Chart Run: {80-49-49-43-31-44-55-69-82-65-97-100}

Peak: #31

Weeks on top 100: 12

At #171 we have Sigma and Labrinth with Higher, the lowest of their six singles. For any artist to have this as their worst single after six releases is really quite impressive, and cements how great Sigma are. The 4:03 version is utterly pointless though.

#170: Calvin Harris feat. Ellie Goulding - Outside

Year of release: 2014

Chart Run: {84-60-93-74-66-49-36-34-36-42-30-27-31-39-52-63-74}

Peak: #27

Weeks on top 100 in 2015: 11

After the massive disappointment that was Blame, Calvin Harris finally got the era back on track with Outside. It lingered around my chart in 2014, before entering my top 40 in the first week of 2015. It spent 7 weeks in my top 40.

#169: Ella Henderson - Missed

Year of release: 2014

Chart Run: {66-75-78-75-76-80-83-86-84-93-x-81-87-85-80-71-83-91}

2015 Peak: #71

Weeks on top 100: 7

2014 EOY: #194

With the song which started it all, Ella Henderson at #169 with the beautiful Missed. It was her audition on the show, and was included on Chapter One. And, as every other song on the album, it's fantastic.

#168: Ella Henderson - Rockets

Year of release: 2014

Chart Run: {67-74-77-77-81-87-87-87-85-94-x-88-92-89-83-80-85-92-100-100-x9-96-91-97}

2015 Peak: #80

Weeks on top 100: 12

2014 EOY: #197

And we have Ella Henderson again, this time with Rockets. Although placed between two quite superior songs, it's still great (but then again, every track on the album is).

#167: Ella Henderson - Beautifully Unfinished

Year of release: 2014

Chart Run: {41-52-61-64-56-61-71-78-77-78-82-73-77-79-79-75-87-89-x11-99-94-x31-99...}

2015 Peak: #73

Weeks on top 100 in 2015: 10

2014 EOY: #182

And here we have the second best deluxe edition only track, Beautifully Unfinished. With lyrics anyone who's had a failed relationship or a break-up will relate to, it is one of the heartfelt tracks on the album.

Hole in my Heart was quite a nice track! I thought there were better highlights than Border for me on the album (hopefully they are high on here :D )

Mr Blue Sky *.* classique.

Bills :dance: love Blank Space and love Outside even more :wub: (where is this Calvin/Taylor collab btw :unsure: )

Higher is probably Sigma's weakest track (lol Labrinth's not done well for me this era either, Jealous was his worst ever single and his vocals in Higher gives Sigma his weakest single lol, and Lab's previous single Let It Be was fairly good but not the high status of his Electronic Earth singles... )

Don't Think your chart has enough Ella Henderson, MirrorMan will be coming for you :kink:

Calvin ft Ellie :heart: Taylor and that Sigma song is good too :D

#166: CHVRCHES - Get Away

Year of release: 2014

Chart Run: {57-54-51-59-72-80-82-87-98}

Peak: #51

Weeks on top 100: 9

At #166 we have CHVRCHES with Get Away. This didn't do too well in the official chart, but was a decent hit with me, spending 9 weeks in the top 100. It finished 5th in last year's edition of Buzzjack's Favourite Non Top 40 Hit due to Streaming. Speaking of which, if you haven't yet voted in this year's edition, VOTE NOW. #165: Gorgon City feat. Jennifer Hudson - Go All Night

Year of release: 2014

Chart Run: {30-50-76-93-93-74-61-75-69-82-x2-90-76-83-97-60-61-68-71-70-69-80-91}

Peak in 2015: #50

Weeks on top 100 in 2015: 21

Gorgon City's first of two appearances in this EOY. Go All Night entered at #30 upon release in December 2014 but all of its subsequent 21 weeks in the chart were in 2015. Unfortunately a bad release strategy meant this crashed down the chart on the New Year's Week, and never recovered. Instead the utterly execrable Trouble became Jennifer Hudson's hit.

Weeks on top 100 in 2015: 18

Take That again, this time with their best song Patience.
