#112: Only The Young - I Do

Year of release: 2015

Chart Run: {1-5-13-18-21-26-32-55}

Peak: #1

Weeks on top 100: 8

The first of my 29 number ones to appear, I Do did descend quite quickly, as it unfortunately failed to catch on. Which is a shame, as it is a great song.

At #111 we have The Saturdays with the fantastic All Fired Up, which is my favourite song by them. Four years later, it's still fantastic.

At #109 we have Perfect by One Direction, which is the best song they have made since Live While We're Young all the way back in 2012. This comes after the dreary Night Changes and the irritating Drag Me Down, so I wasn't expecting much, but this is them properly on form. I wouldn't say it's perfect, but it's very close.

When I listened to Motion (albeit reluctantly due to "Blame") this was the clear standout, with Faith being the only other song to spike my interest. It unfairly stalled at #35, despite being the second best track from the album, after Under Control.

One of the best tracks of 2014, I Wanna Feel unfortunately will go down in history as one of the biggest fluke number ones, which is a shame because it's a really great song. With What Can I Do? charting at #85 and no new music making any waves, it seems SecondCity will be confined to one-hit wonder aswell.

#106: 99 Souls featuring Destiny's Child & Brandy - The Girl Is Mine

Year of release: 2015

Chart Run: {57-8-10-16-10-18...}

Peak: #8

Weeks on top 100 in 2015: 3

Another sample-heavy song, The Girl Is Mine uses "The Boy Is Mine" by Brandy & Monica and "Girl" by Destiny's Child, both of whom are credited. Brandy even re-recorded her vocals. Anyway, this was premiered on here back in December 2014, and the proper version, released in November, has had phenomenal success, and is currently at #9. In my chart, it has currently peaked at #8, but could still improve on that. Don't let the 8 place fall fool you.

#105: Ella Eyre - Always

The second of seven Ella Eyre appearances, Always entered at #15 following Feline's release and climbed up to #11. Although it was overtaken by Even If (still to come), it maintained a very strong run and holds on to the top 100 this week, despite the Bowie onslaught causing 23 other songs, some of which were higher than Always last week, to drop out.

Sia now at #103 with the vastly underrated Big Girls Cry, which sadly couldn't get any higher than #77 on the official chart. I actually prefer this to Elastic Heart, and it had a yo-yoish, but lengthy run in my chart.

At #102 we have my fifth favourite song of 2014, behind "Riptide", "Crying For No Reason", "Rather Be" and "I Wanna Feel". Almost 2 years after it was released, it still sounds amazing and I wish it had been a bigger hit than it was. Poor Foxes can't get a song which is a really big hit, can she? :(

My favourite song of 2014 finishes at #101 here. Two years on, the summery vibe of Riptide is still lovely, and it hasn't aged a bit.

#100: Blonde featuring Karen Harding - Feel Good (It's Alright)

Chart Run: {1-2-10-19-24-26-23-34-42-51-70}

Peak: #1

The first of three Blonde appearances and the first of two for Karen Harding, the collaboration between the two was a really good track, which sadly failed to have any success. In hindsight, this probably was helped to number one by goodwill from I Loved You, Say Something and All Cried Out, but its complete lack of success also hastened its relatively rapid exit.

At #99 we have Years & Years with Worship, which was an instant grat premiered in March. It reached #22 as an instant grat, but re-peaked at #16 after the release of Communion. It also re-entered at the start of 2016, before being knocked out by the Bowie effect. Could it be a future single? Maybe. Gold seems to be the popular choice unfortunately.

#98: Disclosure featuring The Weeknd - Nocturnal

Disclosure make their first appearance with the opening track of Caracal. Featuring vocals from The Weeknd, the song may clock up at 6 minutes and 44 minutes (I have made a 5 minute 13 seconds version on Audacity though) but it definitely merits that runtime, and this and Jaded are by far the best two tracks on the album.

At #97 we have Ed Sheeran with the original version of Bloodstream. Although the Rudimental remix is better, this is still an excellent track.

At #96 we have Coldplay with Adventure Of A Lifetime, which is still sitting high in the UK chart. This entered just outside the top 40, climbing its way up to #9 over the next five weeks. It took a bit of a tumble this week, but we all know why, don't we?

At #95 we have Little Mix for their third appearance, this time with the heart-wrenching Love Me Or Leave Me. This is without a doubt the saddest song for me, and it almost manages to bring me to tears. Almost. Anyway, it's had a very good run here, remaining remarkably consistent, with only this week's Bowie invasion knocking it off balance.

Time for something uplifting at #94. Although it isn't as good as Comeback or Together, it's still a fantastic track and one that definitely deserved more success than it got.
