Redemption is quite good from Life, shame it didn't do much in the chart. Glow, NLG, Eyes Shut, Lush Life all great :cheer:

 

Secret Love Song is amazing :wub: my favourite from this era.

At #56 we have one of the biggest hits of 2015 with Hozier's Take Me To Church. A song about his frustations on the Catholic Church's stance on homosexuality, is it mere coincidence it was such a massive success the year both Ireland and the United States legalised gay marriage?

Bloodstream is decent and MNEK/Zara is great. Sax is fairly good, but I didn't get fully into it. Cheerleader is amazing :wub: :music: and PBJ was a late grower for me.

 

I liked the Foxes song but she has done better! Sam Smith tho :zzz: sounds just like Lay Me Down which was already a decent cure for insomnia :kink:

 

I love Carly's track :wub:

 

Redemption is quite good from Life, shame it didn't do much in the chart. Glow, NLG, Eyes Shut, Lush Life all great :cheer:

 

Secret Love Song is amazing :wub: my favourite from this era.

I'm still furious that Redemption didn't even make the top 100 :angry: Currently I prefer Black Magic and Love Me Like You but it's still early days for Secret Love Song.

At #55 we have Blonde again, this time accompanied by Alex Newell with All Cried Out. It was their second number one, although it then broke the record for biggest fall from number one, a record it still holds. Alex Newell has since released his first solo single, This Ain't Over (yes he's a man, you'd be forgiven for thinking otherwise though).

Years & Years now, with one of my favourites from Communion. Memo may not be as exciting as the other tracks on the single, but its rawness is a nice change (as fantastic as the uptempo tracks are) and it would be a much better single than Gold, in my opinion.

Rachel Platten appears for the second and final time in this countdown with the fantastic Stand By You. Personally, I find this to be vastly superior to Fight Song. Although it has had a relatively short top 40 run for a number one, the fact it's finally starting to gain the success it deserves could send it back up.

Just missing the top 50 is Sia with Alive. Despite its rather low #30 peak, and its incapacity to return to the top 40 despite having everything thrown at it, it's still a fantastic song and one of her best. Much better than Bang My Head, although that is at a disadvantage since Fetty Wap features.

At #49 we have Ella Henderson again with Lay Down. A simple, piano-based, beautiful song, over time this has emerged as one of the best tracks from the album, although it never made the top 40. Until, of course, its use as a tribute to the victims of the terrorists attacks on November 13, 2015 sent it up to #12.

#51: Sia - Alive this is ok, but the Cahill remix of this is really good :music:

#52: Rachel Platten - Stand By You :wub: :wub: this is definitely my favourite song by her. Really good vocals and powerful in general. Slowly creeping up the chart I see :cheer:

Another artist starting by the letter E, at #44 we have the theme to the 50 Shades Of Grey movie. It's the 2015 "Absolute Beginners" case, where a terrible film (50 Shades Of Grey/Absolute Beginners) has an absolutely fantastic theme song (Love Me Like You Do/Absolute Beginners by David Bowie). With Bowie's death two weeks ago, the theme tune now also have the fact they were both the second new number one of 2015 and 2016 respectively in common.

With this appearing he has appeared in five consecutive EOY top 100, appearing from 2011 to 2013 with Read All About It, and in 2014 and 2015 with Lullaby.
