March 20, 20169 yr Author I'm apparently going to this tomorrow with Jay, lamfooo? Lamfooo it's true, but it's now occurring TODAY ;o
March 20, 20169 yr Author To those of you who've been already, what's the merchandise like? I heard that there's no tour programme? :(
March 20, 20169 yr There's like 8 t-shirts, hoodie, a mug, a poster, a cuddly lamb toy and no tour programme :( Edited March 20, 20169 yr by Scherz
March 20, 20169 yr Author Thank you! Oh, disappointing (I always get a programme) Lmao at a cuddly lamb toy though, only Mariah :')!
March 20, 20169 yr I thought the t-shirts looked tack tbh... my two friends bought them but I was like 'nah bae'. Really surprised she performed loverboy even if 30 seconds.
March 20, 20169 yr The T-shirts were indeed a bit rubbish and expensive. It amused me that one of the songs referenced on one of the t-shirts wasn't even performed. It's a shame there was no programme as it was one of the few times I would have bought one, but we got a poster instead.
March 22, 20169 yr Author I was very pleasantly surprised by Mariah and by the show as a whole! I admittedly had reasonably low expectations when I bought the tickets (considering some of her fairly dodgy performances in recent years), but nevertheless I was extremely keen to see her... just to see her on stage, one of my all-time favourites, would have been enough for me... however she sounded. :heehee: As it turns out, she really impressed me with her vocals! Her voice is easily stronger now than it has been in years. I know there was undoubtedly some lip syncing & backing track, as well as the backing vocalists, but what she did do live was generally on point (bar the odd squeal or two. ;o ). It was just incredible to see her! I've been a big fan of hers for maybe 15 years or so, but I'd pretty much resigned myself to likely never having the opportunity to see her, so I'm just really glad I got the chance to do so. What a legend! Lots of highlights for me, and no particular low points (my only disappointment is that she couldn't have squeezed more songs into the set; I'd have loved to have seen her perform Dreamlover, Honey & #Beautiful). I was won over by the 'Fantasy' mix in the end, and was pleased that the Bad Boy mix and album version were incorporated into the end of the performance (I could have done with even more of the album version, of course). The medley was great, so many amazing up-tempo moments which I feel are a bit overlooked in her back catalogue these days. Loverboy!! What a moment in her career. :') The ballads section was brilliant; I particularly enjoyed We Belong Together. The Whitney tribute & the earlier MJ tribute were both lovely. Cheesy comment: I had such a great night Bal, thank you so much for coming with me to see her. #legroom #dontleaveatip / Now, start streaming '#1 to Infinity' on Spotify, lamfooo. It would have been so perfect if we'd still had the excitement of knowing that we were going to see Janet a few days after, sigh. :snif: Hopefully she really does reschedule and we have our long awaited Janet night someday! P.S. Birmingham Mail gave Mariah a 5 star review! http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/whats-on/m...talgia-11070849 ~ By the way, still gutted at the lack of a tour programme!! I ended up buying a poster, because I couldn't leave without some form of memento. I really wanted one of the Mariah bags more than any of the merchandise ( ), but then we found out they were VIP only. Gay Times magazine reviewed the Manchester show, and made this comment regarding tour programmes: It’s a testing time for divas on tour lately, what with audience-member wardrobe malfunctions and contentious widespread cancellations, so Mariah’s minor clerical error over a lack of printed programmes in time for the tour’s commencement seems positively inconsequential in the scheme of things. ... so it seems they were planned? There were still none in Cardiff last night. I wonder if they've just been cancelled for some reason, or if they'll go on sale in time for future European dates?
