Posted December 18, 20159 yr http://static.spin.com/files/2015/11/charli-xcx-940-640x426.png A documentary presented by Charli XCX on women in the music industry and the impact of feminism was on BBC Three recently and it was an interesting programme. The artists involved are so Buzzjack-friendly it's unreal with the likes of Marina, LIZ (When I Rule The World), Ryn Weaver, Ibeyi, MS MR and Charli herself of course all getting interviewed/mentioned. There is loads more as well but they've all just slipped out of my mind. Worth a watch though, it's on BBC iPlayer!
December 18, 20159 yr I thought this was really great! I also agreed with the few tweets Charli sent the other day, recently a documentary showing extreme attitudes against feminism was given prime viewing, whereas Charli's was first played quite late at night on a (tuesday?).
December 19, 20159 yr I never knew MS MR owned Neon Gold Records! Yey for 'Froot' being recoginsed as a 'worldwide success' ( :kink:) but I was hoping for more from Marinas bit considering she's normally a lot more insightful/detailed in her interviews. It felt more like she was just foing it to help out Charli! I'm not sure I entirely got what they were trying to say about the 'Electra Heart' era as I think all artists who 'sell-out' get the same reactions.
December 19, 20159 yr I'm gonna be in two minds about this. After working with Charli XCX I do not believe her to be a feminist.
