Lush Life is your best bet for that.

Radio friendly and I assume it could definetly go top 5, who knows, maybe even higher.

Despite it having been held back for absolutely ages 'Lush Life' will be given an OA/OS style release ; so I imagine it'll take a while to impact, it certainly won't debut in the top 5 anyway.

Yeah, this is always the worst time of year for new music.

Tragic really given that the Mercury Prize and BBC Music Awards have just happened (recapping 'old' music I know, but it'd be nice for something that had gone slightly unnoticed to spark significant interest) and the hype of Critics' Choice and Sound of 2016 polls are starting. People should be getting on board Jack Garratt now, rather than at the end of January when he's everywhere.

You'd think but it'll only start when radio 1 gets back to normal from 4th January!
I'm not getting the Bieber love at all. The songs are not good. Love yourself is quite decent. The other 2 singles are bland r'n'b.

R'n'B?

This year is certainly worse than last that is for sure. This year the whole top 5 have been #1 at some point in the christmas chart and 1 song in the top 10 (NHS) has less than 5 weeks on the chart. Last year Ben Haenow was xmas #1 on his first week (so same as NHS) but Uptown Funk was #2 on its second week, Olly Murs was #4 on its 3rd week in the chart, the Wealdstone raiders were new at 5. Ed Sheeran was the only old song hovering around the top 5.

I'm fine with him doing well. 'What Do You Mean' and 'Sorry' are really good songs but I just don't get how it's quite THIS popular. It's bizzarre.

Tbh I don't get how Justin Bieber as a whole is THIS popular. The guy has been a source of banter ever since the days when he had a very squeaky voice and looked like a squirrel.

It definitely makes looking at the iTunes & Spotify charts anti-climatic.

I agree actually, they are R'n'B tracks..... If Chris Brown sung The same songs...

Are we expecting Jack Garratt to smash? He doesn't sound very commercial to me

It'll do a Hotline Bling/Never Forget You (best examples I could think of), slowly rise up the chart but have good longevity in the top 20 eventually.

Lush Life is the new Lean On :)

cannot see Garratt being huge... he's too alternative, his music is the same style as James Blake, as in not for the masses

Artists on the Sound of 2016 could make some impact, I think the top 5 is announced next week.

I don't think any of Justin Bieber's #1s could be described as R&B. Sorry does have a strong dancehall influence (the drums in the beat) but it's notable that none have received support from urban radio. Company would fit that description though.

WDYM is a pop song with a tropical house-based beat, Love Yourself is a standard ballad and Sorry, like I mentioned, sounds like a mashup of EDM, tropical house and Jamaican dancehall.

Yeah I'd say house pop too. For nu-beeb. His last era/Confident was r and b though.

After the battering it got from "the gift card effect" Little Mix's 'Secret Love Song' is recovering very nicely and making its way back inside the top 50!

If that's not the sign of a massive hit, I dont know what is! Especially as it's recovered as well as it has.

nice recovery for the following songs:

Stitches #11

99 Souls #14

Craig David #27

Little Mix/Derulo #60

on the other hand

the Bridge choir at #33 and #146 lol

Stitches didn't need to recover :kink: It got a boost from the gift card effect in fact! #10 is SO close now, please don't stall Shawn :drama:

true

the one that hasn't recovered is Sugar :( was in London over the weekend and heard the song a lot and also saw the video every 5 minutes in all music channels
