I like it, it's a nice compliment to the official flag and it now sits in the thread OP here as the flag of our capital city (our more simplistic flag will remain the flag of the nation as a whole).

It is a shame particularly as I didn't see it as a borderline entry unlike my previous DNQ, but on the bright side it means it may well see some redemption in TBO at the end of the year by getting into the semi-finals.

 

Seeing as we are turning TEN YEARS OLD next contest (although our 100th anniversary won't be for a few more contests) hopefully we get back on track, but that was the most "hit-sounding" song I had in my list of potentials so who knows. :lol:

Despite our disqualification, it was a good month at the very top end of the scoreboard with all the top 3 getting big points from us (Rontvia, D'yermaker, Farc). Arcodesia and Bøtanikkä unfortunately missed out on the top 20 however Thelonia did end up on the right side of the halfway point and Rolloland made the top 10 alongside Kathaldazia. It was a rare miss month for Aeroche (by their usual standards) with their entry just missing out on a point from us.

BJSC 135: Gardenstate & GVN – Take Me There

 

 

Going for something a little bit different for the "100 contests since we joined" anniversary, sending a breakbeat track! I guess that makes us Officially one of the BJSC Old Guard now. However due to our 4-contest hiatus following our second entry and first DNQ, our Anniversary entry won't be arriving for another few contests. Gardenstate are a production duo made up of Swede Marcus Schossow & American Matthew Felner. GVN is a Northern Irish DJ. The song was released as the landmark 700th release of legendary dance record label Anjunabeats so we thought it'd be apt to send it to this landmark contest for us.

gardenstate were formed after a chance meeting between Marcus Schössow and Matthew Felner. They’ve become a popular fixture on the label: ‘By Your Side’, ‘Surreal’, plus their raved-up take on Above & Beyond and Zoë Johnston’s ‘No One On Earth’ have all been well received. With a growing underground following and a series of spectacular ‘Inspirations’ livestreams under their belt, Marcus and Matt will be releasing much more music on Anjunabeats in 2021.

 

The other mind at work on ‘Take Me There’ is Gavin Brown, aka GVN. Marcus Schössow introduced Gavin to Anjunabeats in 2020, and a record deal soon followed. His label debut ‘I Don’t’ was released in January 2021 on the first Anjunabeats Rising EP, quickly followed by ‘Back To Me / Ethereal’. Both ‘Back To Me’ and ‘Ethereal’ were premiered by BBC Radio 1’s Danny Howard and Pete Tong on the same night.

 

Supported by Above & Beyond, Martin Garrix, Tiesto, Third Party and more, he’s a star in the making. GVN will be joining us on our stage at Creamfields in summer 2021.

 

Filmed in London by director Klement Brahaj, the official music video for ‘Take Me There’ stars enigmatic skateboard talent Jamie Griffin. Jamie was born in Ireland. With little access to skateparks, Jamie honed his craft in the backyard shed. Posting physics-defying tricks to social media, Jamie built a passionate online community. Today, he's a professional athlete.

Shots Fired at North Danaelandan Border As Rebels Expand Occupation of Mezidina, Plans to Destroy Danæviia

 

Tensions are high at the Border at the moment after North Danaelandan rebels stormed the Danævii International Song Contest Committee's headquarters (DISCC HQ) and confirmed a protest song under their own name. It would have been the second time they succeeded following Thanos' attack of the Danævii-hosted contest of 2019, however the Danævii Emergency Defence Forces managed to take back control and keep the contest running smoothly. The President Jess Glynne made a statement this morning saying "this right here is an unprecedented attack on our democracy" and that "if explosives need to be used, then explosives we shall use by Thursday".

 

As North Danaelanda expand their terrority into Mezidina however they also find themselves in trouble, waging war with Terra Avium forces. An estimated 7,000 birds were found dead after yesterday's bloodshed, with some 3,000 casualties on the North Danaelandan side, and more to expected from an outbreak of Avium Bird Flu. The Orange Party have lent the fine nation of Terra Avium a sum of §6m to spend on weaponry to defeat the great threat North Danaelanda poses to our nation. It is alleged that Aquafinian and Altyr Muunilinst military officers are laundering money to North Danaelanda and if so heavy sanctions are expected to be placed.

 

Gardenstate & GVN were announced this evening to represent Danæviia in this month's Buzzjack Song Contest with the song 'Take Me There', currently in the top 40 of the national chart and expected to rise into the top 10 next week. Both performers were unharmed during the storming and they are excited to travel to FARC to perform. Gardenstate announced as qualifiers for BJSC Final; avenging Attlas flop

 

Gardenstate & GVN were announced this evening to represent Danæviia in the Final of this month's Buzzjack Song Contest with the song 'Take Me There', currently sitting at #2 of the national chart. It marks the return of the nation to the final after Attlas was unlucky enough to be caught in a tough semi and only just miss the cut last contest. International readers in can vote for the song by mobile app voting, or calling 079-555-00-15.

 

President Glynne was delighted at this news, remarking that this shows how strong of a country Danæviia can be when faced with the task of rebounding from a flop. Danævii voters were however especially displeased with the announcement of République d'Áskorza's failure to qualify, having awarded the country with 12 points, the most points we have ever given them in a semi-final. Dwitter users took to the hashtag #StopAntiRapBJSCBias, with #StopTheloniaRacism, #EndBeaverdoniaism and #FreeKathaldazia also trending after the countries were likewise announced as failing to reach the final. However it was still all-in-all a win last night with over half of our votes and provisional votes actually reaching the final alongside us.

Gardenstate & GVN finish in 28th as Farc land historic victory in their home arena

 

It was announced this evening that Gardenstate & GVN managed to finish in 28th place, thus avoiding the bottom ten and Flop status, although not quite giving us another hit either - with it being our lowest position in the final this year so far. We were still pleased with the success it got, attracting votes from 24 nations. This included three sets of medal points; +15 from Thelonia and East Rukahavian and +13 from Bøtanikkä. The song also comfortably went through its semi final reaching the top 10 in 9th.

 

The contest was won in a landslide by Farc, who we awarded 12 points to, marking the first back to back win in 6 years since Aquafina managed it. Aeroche who we gave our top points to finished in 2nd and Séyetana finished in 3rd assisted by our 11 points. Overall a very good contest for our faves then - although not so much for our +15 Tartford, finishing in 30th. Fljótavík who received our +13 finished in a more respectable 19th. The remainder of the final top 5 was completed by Varakë (+6) and Cumulonimbia (narrowly missing out on points). Other entries in the top 10 we gave points to were Holland-Oats in 8th (+5) and FSR Rontvia in 10th (+3).

Going for a fave from way way back in the day now, this one dating from 2007 and featured on a Clubland compilation, but never given an official single release. BJSC 136: Ashley Wallbridge - Golden Hour

 

 

This month we inject a flavour of Summer and uplifting trance to the contest with a lush instrumental tune 'Golden Hour'. Surprisingly we had managed to go for the whole first half of the year without sending Trance. Well we now do and finally introduce one of our favourite producers of the genre to the wider Buzzjack world. Ashley Wallbridge is an English producer who is closely associated with former Danævii BJSC winner Gareth Emery – signed to his We'll Be OK label and having even released a collaborative album in 'Kingdom United'. He is now gearing up the release of his second solo album 'Ready for Life' (title inspired by his victory against meningitis) which 'Golden Hour' is taken from. The song recently reached the summit of the official Danævii singles chart and currently sits at #2.

Embrz is a melodic house/downtempo producer from Dublin, Ireland. Signed to Lane 8's label This Never Happened for our 99th entry we send 'Where You Are', the lead track of his forthcoming debut album 'Moments', with vocals from American Lizzy Land. The song is a bit more subdued than is typical of a Danæviia entry, but it is simply beautiful and lush - one of my favourite songs of the year thus far - currently spending its 5th week on top of the Danævii singles chart.

I’m honestly surprised its those two that dnqed and Gardenstate and Ashley Wallbridge who qualified, logically it should’ve been the other way around.
