20. King (Years and Years) UK electronic duo got to number one in the UK with this track which spent one week at number one on my chart in May

 

 

19. Firestone (Kygo ft Conrad Sewell) Third out of four tracks in this countdown for Kygo. The song first entered my chart in 2014 and was placed at 56 on the 2014 year end countdown. It only peaked at 3 but by the end of 2015 it had spent 29 weeks inside the Top 20 in two separate runs.

 

18. Earned it (Weeknd) First of two inside the Top 20 of the countdown for the Canadian singer. It is also the first of two from the film of Fifty Shades of Grey and was number two for two weeks on my chart in March

 

 

17. Like I'm gonna lose you (Meghan Trainor/John Legend) This ballad topped the charts in Australia and spent three weeks atop my chart in August. Trainor was at 23 on this countdown with "Marvin Gaye" and Legend at 25 with "Lay me down" both again as duets.

 

 

16. Take your time (Sam Hunt) Country music made it right to the top of my chart as Sam Hunt spent two weeks at number one in October and November

 

 

15. Est ce que tu m'aimes (Maitre Gims) The most successful French language artist of the past few years got to 3 in France with this track and by the year ended had reached 2 in Italy. On my chart it spent four weeks at number two in June and July. Maitre Gims was at 46 in my 2014 countdown with "Changer", 61 in the 2013 countdown with "Zombie" and 64 with "Bella"

 

 

14. Stole the show (Kygo ft Parson James) Highest of the four tracks on the countdown by Kygo. The song spent three weeks at the top of my chart in May

 

 

13. Richest Girl (Etana) First of two reggae tracks inside the Top 20 of the year. this Jamaican singer was two weeks at the top of my chart in March

 

 

12. Wasn't expecting that (Jamie Lawson) British singer/songwriter originally had a hit in Ireland with this in 2011. It reached 6 in the UK in October but was number one for one week in May amassing 17 weeks in the Top 20 by the year end in two separate chart runs.

 

 

11. Want to want me (Jason De Rulo) Second number one for De Rulo on my chart following "Trumpets" at the start of 2014. "Want to want you" spent 4 weeks at the top of my chart in June.

 

 

10. Stitches (Shawn Mendes) International breakthrough track for the young Canadian singer which peaked at 4 in the US. The song was 2 weeks at the top of my chart in November and had spent 11 weeks in the Top 10 by the year end.

 

 

9. Catch and release(deepend remix) (Matt Simons) US singer songwriter had real success with track when it was remixed by Dutch house producers. Its first appearance on my chart predated this success and it spent 2 weeks at number 2 with 23 weeks inside my Top 20 by the end of the year

 

 

8. Can't feel my face (Weeknd) Second track of Weeknd inside the Top 20 of 2015. This Michael Jackson influenced track was number one in the US and was number one for two weeks on my chart in July

 

 

7. Uptown Funk (Mark Ronson ft Bruno Mars) This track first charted with me in November 2014 and was at 9 in my 2014 Year End Countdown. Its reign at the top extended to 7 weeks in 2015 and spent a total of 25 weeks in the Top 20. Taking 2014 and 2015 this track would have ended number for the two years combined. In the US "Uptown Funk" sold over 6 million and was 14 weeks at number one the joint second longest run ever. Over the past 5 years Bruno Mars would be favourite artist.. On the 2013 countdown "Treasure" was 44, "Gorilla" 50 and "Moonshine" 97, on the 2012 countdown "When I was your man" was at 5, "Locked out of heaven" 11 and "Young Girls" 36, on the 2011 countdown "It will rain" was 9, "Liquor Store Blues" 24, "Lazy song" 30, "Talking to the moon" 39 and "Marry you" 49 and on the 2011 countdown "Grenade" was 9 and "Just the way you are" 10

 

 

6. Hello (Adele) The highest of three tracks by Adele on the 2015 countdown. This track was 4 weeks at number one in November and December. It dominated world charts by the end of the year and was or had been top in over 100 countries and was approaching a billion youtube views in just over 2 months

 

 

5. Photograph (Ed Sheeran) In 2014 Sheeran featured 4 times on my Year end Countdown "I see fire" at 57, "Sing" at 50, "Make it rain" at 37 and "Thinking out loud" at 1 which again featured on the 2015 countdown. The video to "Photograph" features a montage of film from Sheeran's childhood. "The track was number one for two weeks on my chart in July and was 4 weeks at number two

 

 

4. Parfum (Prince Koloni) The higher of two reggae songs in the Top 20 Countdown for 2015. Prince Koloni is a Surinaam singer and his track "Parfum" was top of my chart for five weeks in September and October 2015 spending 19 weeks in the Top 20.

 

 

3. El Perdon (Nicky Jam/Enrique Iglesias) This was not only the biggest Latin hit of the year for the US reggaeton singer Nicky Jam and his pairing with Enrique Iglesias with whom he later re-recorded the track but was a massive worldwide hit going number one in over 25 countries and with a combined youtube viewing of over 1 billion. On my chart it spent 4 weeks at number one in March and April and spent 22 weeks in my Top 20 in two separate chart runs.

 

 

2. 7 years (Lukas Graham) Second appearance on the Year End Countdown for this Danish band and the fantastic voice the lead singer after whom the band is named. The track was number one in both Denmark and Sweden and on my chart it was number one for 2 weeks in August and was 27 weeks in the Top 20 by the year end

 

 

1. Love me like you do (Ellie Goulding) Number one on my countdown is one of the biggest global hits of the year with over 1 billion youtube views. The song from the soundtrack of the film of Fifty Shades of Grey topped my chart for 5 weeks topped my chart for five weeks and was 15 weeks in my Top 10

 

Commentary : "Love me like you do" ends 2015 as my number one song of the year having spent 5 weeks at the top but "Uptown Funk"'s 7 weeks at the top spanned the end of 2014 into 2015 and ended at 7 in the 2015 rundown having been at 9 in the 2014 countdown. Several other tracks similarly appeared in both year's countdowns "Thinking out loud", "Firestone", "Ay vamos", "Are you with me", "Derech hashalom" and "Cheerleader" which has now appeared on the countdowns of three consecutive years. 27 of the tracks are productions from the USA (28 in 2014 and 27 in 2013 so remarkably stable), 14 are from the UK (17 in 2014 and 16 in 2013 again very stable), 7 from France (6 in 2014 and 5 in 2013), 8 from both Sweden and Norway - altogether 18 from Scandanavia more than from the UK - 7 from Canada and 5 from Belgium. Altogether 23 countries are represented in the Top 100 (29 in 2014 and 28 in 2013). The act most represented on the countdown is Kygo with four and he also had the longest runner in the Top 20 with 29 weeks spanning 2014 and 2015.
