The Good Dinosaur This is definitely not where most of you would expect a Pixar film to land in many EOY lists but for me most of the magic in this was in the visuals rather than the storyline. Probably the most 'beautiful' animation ever made, the backgrounds looked like photographs and some of the water animation was out of this world, it all looked so pretty and the goofy charcter style ended up growing me a lot in contrast with the backgrounds, it made them seem cuter. It did have a lot of charm, some very likeable characters and a not too shabby story but it did all seem a bit 'seen it before', the plot was basically just The Lion King with dinosaurs instead and I feel like they could have explored the concept of dinosaurs and humans living in a world together instead of just having one interaction between them and the rest being finding their way back home, seemed a bit like a waste of such a good concept. I did enjoy this film and even saw it twice in cinemas but the story seemed a lot weaker than those yet to come so I can't really excuse that just because of beautiful art. http://i.imgur.com/F9Xemfn.jpg 52. Furious 7 I had never seen a Fast & Furious movie before this and I did enjoy it but there was just so much action of blowing things up and cars that it did all end up getting a bit boring. There were some great scenes like the cars dropping out the planes that I loved but towards the end it was a bit like 'another thing just blew up, ok cool' and it didn't really justify having such a long runtime which did make me a bit antsy towards the end. The reason it is so high is because it doesn't take itself too seriously and has some great moments of humour, The Rock flexing off his cast is one of the top movie moments of 2015 and Vin stamping on the ground in the car park and it caving in to defeat Statham was hilarious too. I suppose another problem was that I didn't know the characters very well at all so didn't fully understand their own sideplots although tey still managed to convey the emotion in the final scene even to a newbie like me and I think it was done very well and respectfully, the song really fitted well there too, shame it didn't get an Oscar nomination surprisingly. http://i.imgur.com/z5oFfAg.jpg 53. Victor Frankenstein This is the sort of cheesy film I like anyway so the reviews didn't really put me off, I love both leads too so it was nice to see them team up and I thought they had really good chemistry, James McAvoy is one of the most likeable personalities in Hollywood imo! I seem to be the only one who commented in the thread here so maybe I'm the only one who did see it but I hope not because it's a lot of fun, especially towards the end with all the Frankenstein's monster action sequences, they actually did seem quite tense because they made the monster look so creepy. James McAvoy was hamming it up a lot here but it worked really well in this case and added to the fun of the movie, it was all a bit silly but in a good way, especially when he started doing stuff like sucking the pus from Igor's back  I loved all the zombie monkey scenes too, they did a great job of making him seem so gruesome and it was a good popcorn moment when he escaped. http://i.imgur.com/Kh4CRC7.jpg 54. The Bad Education Movie Much like the Bill movie, this does feel better suited to TV but this one seemed to work a lot better for me, Jack Whitehall is probably my favourite male comedian out there and I loved the TV show so there's no surprise that I liked this too, it did start to lull towards the end when the jokes started to be substituted for an actual ending but that happens a lot with comedies and I still enjoyed the rest loads. The 'foreskin in mouth' scene was a big highlight and I always love the flirty student too, her holiday t-shirt with 'student with benefits' printed on the bag got a chuckle from me. This didn't disappoint me at all really and just felt like watching three episodes in a row but the reason for its low placing is because it all feels like something that perhaps doesn't belong in a proper cinema. http://i.imgur.com/ZOJ4VcM.jpg 55. Vacation This is one of those feel-good comedies that makes you laugh a few times and you come out smiling but isn't particurlary daring or that funny hence its lower placing here. It did have some great moments like scrubbing the penis off the car which looked even more wrong and the cannibal cow but the show-stealer for me was Chris Hemsworth, he got the cheeky persona perfect and the whole peen scene was hilarious, one of my favourite comedy scenes in a while. I loved the whole cast actually and some of the brother v brother insults were fun too, especially when the older one finally got his own back. Overall, I had a great time watching it but it's far from the best comedy ever.
February 5, 20169 yr The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is indeed charming, but I didn't enjoy it as much as the first.
February 5, 20169 yr Seem to be in the minority that loves The Good Dinosaur, found it such an incredible movie and up there with Pixar's best  Also adore Maze Runner 2 & Tomorrowland (the latter being one of my favourites of 2015)

I was well intl Tomorrowland because it was so mad but the ending did ruin it for me. Hope we're getting a countdown from you too UV! Thanks :D The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is indeed charming, but I didn't enjoy it as much as the first. I think they're on the same level for me, I hope they continue making them though! Thanks Regina! :D
February 6, 20169 yr Author http://i.imgur.com/t9k8h4k.jpg 46. Miss You Already This was definitely one of the more emotional films this year, it almost had me in tears at so many moments. Both leads had such a strong relationship that you didn't want either to be sad and you wouldn't know what you would do in that situation. There were times when you didn't know what would be the right thing to do and whether to open up about getting pregnant or not when your friend is going through such a hard time and your husband is saying the opposite. Drew Barrymore's character had a real mummy vibe to her and you never wanted her to get hurt, the scene when she falls over in the hilly bit whilst pregnant was actually one of the harder scenes to watch not knowing if the baby would be OK. My only realy problem with this was that her on-screen husband came across really badly and I hated watching his scenes which was a bit of problem. It was so touching to see Milly make it to the birth as well, so many emotional scenes packed into one film :( http://i.imgur.com/u5NDpXs.jpg 47. The Dressmaker This was surprisingly very enjoyable, didn't think the trailers looked very good at all but it was such an odd little film and it had so much charm to it that I ended up enjoying it quite a bit. Judy Davis was hilarious in her role and completely stole the show, Kate Winslet did another great job and Liam Hemsworth too was very likeable, any film with topless Liam Hemsworth is worthy of my time anyway tbh. I loved how all the characters were so over the top and dramatised, made for a lot of laugh, especially when everyone just started killing each other at the end  My Dad and Jahq I believe weren't huge on this but I just thought it was quite different and kept me engaged all the way through so what do I know ? :P http://i.imgur.com/TMpqlCh.jpg 48. Jupiter Ascending One of the worst reviewed movies of last year makes it pretty high here, much like the Star Wars prequels it's one of those movies that I don't really get why people rip it apart when there's such pretty visuals, action scenes and a fairly good story. Yes, it does all seem a bit odd when you think of it in terms of a girl gets persuaded to sell her eggs but then is actually a reincarnation of an old queen somewhere in the galaxy but I really enjoyed how the plot progressed and Mila slowly started to overcome the evil leaders. All the characters were fun and likeable, the action was really well shot and I loved all the costumes and alien characters too. My only real problem with this was Eddie Redmayne who I usually love but lol wat was he doing with his voice?!?!?!? http://i.imgur.com/aTtkYxd.jpg 49. Woman In Gold This was a movie that I kept putting off watching because it just had such a boring-sounding concept but I ended up being really surprised. Ryan Reynolds did a good job as the underdog lawyer and I was rooting for him all the way and Helen Mirren played her character very well and really deserved more awards recognition, she was hilarious in places too with her witty dialogue. It ended up being a rather thrilling story because you really wanted the characters to win and it was intriguing to see what the next court would rule or what they could do next to increase their chances and yay for happy endings of course. The flashbacks were really well done too and so tense in places, especially the escape scene in the shop. http://i.imgur.com/bJPY3XK.jpg 50. The Interview One of the more bonkers comedies in a while but I did like how outrageous it was in places, I wasn't actually laughing out loud all the way through but it did have some great moments, think my favourite joke was that Jong-un didn't have a bumhole because he has no use for it  I loved the scene where Seth had to stick the package where the sun doesn't shine avoid being caught  Some of the celebrity cameos were really fun too and I loved James Franco's character of cocky talk show host. Lizzy Caplan did a really good job in this too and had some good moments, hoping to see her in more stuff form now on, I actually thought it was Katy Perry at first though! February 6, 20169 yr Miss You Already was such a brilliant movie and I wept so many tears :( I agree with you on Drew's on screen hubby, when you compare it to Toni and Dominic who seemed to have more of a connection, it felt really cold and I didn't like him much.
February 6, 20169 yr Loved The Interview and agree with you that is was funny and bonkers  Not seen any of the others but have Woman In Gold/Jupiter Ascending on record and I already really want to see Miss You Already  I'm going to do my countdown when I've seen 100 movies, which hopefully after the February half-term I'll be close to reaching that
February 7, 20169 yr Loved the Bad Education Movie, that certain scene was definitely my favourite so glad that got a mention. :kink: (This is having never seen the TV show either). Enjoyed Vacation a lot more than I expected too. Nice to see a namecheck in the Dressmaker commentary :P Indeed I thought it was so silly and how much suffering does Kate Winslet have to go through?!?!?! My mum really enjoyed it though so what do I know? Agreed with you and Regina about the husband in Miss You Already, he brought it down for me. Thought The Interview was HILARIOUS, I was laughing throughout and it was spot on for my humour. James Franco was great, the chat show scene with Eminem is one that sticks out in my mind and the bit where Kim has "Firework" as his ringtone  You're both SO WRONG about 'Maze Runner'! Definitely my fave of these dystopian future sorta films! May the odds be never in your favour -_-

I remember you saying you didn't like it but ended up really enjoying, it was just so dramatic and silly so I liked it for that :D Now you mention it, the Eminem scene was pretty hilarious where he came out as gay and James Franco was trying to tell his producers like 'did that just happen' Jonjo, how can anyone's favourite not be HG! It's way out in front for me in terms of quality. Thank youu! Miss You Already was such a brilliant movie and I wept so many tears :( I agree with you on Drew's on screen hubby, when you compare it to Toni and Dominic who seemed to have more of a connection, it felt really cold and I didn't like him much. Toni and Dominic definitely had a connection and it just seemed awkward when Drew who was so nice had such an idiot husband but the movie itself was so emotional, I agree with you, those movies always get to me :'( Thanks Regina! February 7, 20169 yr Author http://i.imgur.com/nJwReUY.jpg 41. He Named Me Malala I thought this was a very inspiring and heart-breaking documentary and would probably give it a 10/10 in those terms but in terms of enjoyment and cinematic experience, it has to place a little lower. It's difficult to compare films like this to action blockbusters but my personal tastes would take a superhero fight over this documentary style film without trying to sound disrespectful to the amazing things Malala has achieved in comparison the visual effects team on the Avengers... I've never really been into motivational speakers or listening to speeches but every word she said had me hooked because you can tell she has so much passion in trying to achieve education for girls worldwide. It hit me hard when she said she'd do anything to just see her home again but she can't even enter the country without fear of being killed. I loved the little insights into her home life and her blushing at her celebrity crushes on her computer just made you warm to her even more and her family were all so sweet. The problem was in terms of movies, this just didn't have the same cinematic experience as other films yet to come. http://i.imgur.com/P4dUsbR.jpg 42. Absolutely Anything This was far from one of the best films or even comedies made but it made me laugh quite a bit and it never got boring for one moment, it had a short runtime and it all just felt short, sweet and funny. The poo cleaning itself up was probably the best visual gag for me but I loved it when the powers started being pedantic too and he didn't know how to word it to help the world, of course there were times when the rules were bent on how the powers actually worked for the sake of a joke but it all made me laugh at the end of the day so I didn't mind at all. Such low critic ratings weren't really fair imo because I had a great time even though of course the concept has been done before better. http://i.imgur.com/1R7dxA1.jpg 43. Trainwreck This is a probably a lot lower here than in other people's lists but I really didn't find it THAT funny, it had some great one liners and a few good scenes too (especially the cheerleader dance at the end which cracked a massive smile on my face) but I never laughed out louds and it fell completely apart in the emotional scenes which the Amy wasn't that great at pulling off and it made the film drag in those parts. I loved all the characters for the most part, Amy was very likeable despite all her antics and Tilda Swinton was hilarious, especially during the firing scene where she just took no shit  John Cena was my personal highlight though, he's proving to have a lot of comedic talent because he clearly doesn't mind taking the mick out of himself, the 'I look like Mark Wahlberg ate Mark Wahlberg' joke was hilarious as well as all the gay innuendos and Amy just had an embarrassed expression on her face  I do hope we get to see him in some more comedies because he's been great in this, Sisters and Daddy's Home. http://i.imgur.com/TYKXMJj.jpg 44. Suffragette I just have to start this off by saying how overlooked Carey Mulligan was in this year's award race, she gave one of my top 5 female performances for sure, the pure emotion in her scenes with her child made my heart yearn for them to be re-united each time. It was difficult even in the viewer's mind because you know she was dragged into it and is losing everything yet she is fighting for the right thing at the same time and you are able to empathise with her character so much. All the supporting characters did a great job too, Helena Bonham Carter never puts in a bad performance and it was nice to see Meryl pop up for a second too. The story was enthralling from start to finish and I thought it was a very good idea to follow the story of one girl instead of the suffragette movement as a whole. http://i.imgur.com/eTycO4L.jpg 45. Insurgent This was a bit of a step-down from the first which was one of my favourite movies of the year, I feel like they made way too many changes and it was more infuriating this time because I'd just finished reading the book. The action was very well done though and all the characters are continuing to earn a place in my affections, especially Tris of course in a Katniss Everdeen type way. I liked this movie overall but it just felt a bit too much like the first one and a bit too different from the book for me to properly like it.
February 7, 20169 yr The cheerleader dance may be my favourite moment in a movie last year, Trainwreck is fighting so hard for a top 10 placing for me
February 8, 20169 yr Forgot to mention Good Dinosaur in my last post, the animation really was beautiful but I'm not bothered about it ending up as the lowest grossing Pixar movie in the UK (not that Cars is great) I liked Absolutely Anything but I think it was a case of some of the best bits being in the trailer / the trailer being super fun and it not being able to sustain that over an entire movie. Some of the powers being more pedantic than others did annoy me and drag it down a little. Didn't enjoy Insurgent as much, think it's too much of a lesser Hunger Games and this movie didn't have all the set-up that the first movie had so it was more 'seen it all before'.
February 8, 20169 yr Author I wanna see Trainwreck out of this section tbh It's definitely an enjoyable comedy so I hope you like it when/if you get around to it :D Thanks Harry! The cheerleader dance may be my favourite moment in a movie last year, Trainwreck is fighting so hard for a top 10 placing for me  Ah, I can see why people did like it so much but I got more laughs from a few other movies still yet to come. Excited for anything movies wise that Amy Schumer has to offer in the future though :D Thanks UV! Na, I think I prefer both Cars movies actually because they're a lot funnier and more charming imo, the characters were just more enjoyable to watch and this really lacked in a compelling story whereas at least Cars keeps you interested with its humour and race scenes. I've still not watched the trailer to AA but it seems that's a good thing, there's always going to be a few plot holes in a cheap and silly comedy and I can look past them if the joke makes me laugh, one of the more cheap and cheerful movies of the year and it never dragged. I agree with you that it did feel more 'seen it all before' which was my main disappointment, starting to get hyped for the next instalment now though so I suppose it did it's job! Thanks Jahq!
February 8, 20169 yr Author http://i.imgur.com/ibfgO3D.jpg 36. The Lady in the Van If I'm being totally honest, this did end up being a teeny bit disappointing although I still enjoyed it very much. My main problem was just that all the best jokes were used up in the trailer, the best of course being about the Virgin Mary being down the post office handing out advice  Maggie Smith nailed the role and all her comedic lines were delivered to perfection, you completely believed she was a bonkers old lady but she brought her top game to the emotional scenes too, the ones where she was being harassed by people in the night were almost heart-breaking. The film itself aside from the Lady in the Van got bogged down in the dual personality thing and the weird ending that I guess would be better suited to a stage performance so that is the reason for a not-too-high placing despite having some great comedy moments. http://i.imgur.com/CzQ4riq.jpg 37. Magic Mike XXL The reason that this movie is so high is not just because I'm thirsty or anything but I just really liked the movie as a whole. There was some great humour, the shop scene was hilarious and totally sold by how much Joe Manganiello was able to laugh at himself and all of the final stripteases had so much personality to them that made them quite funny too as well as being interestingly choreographed. Aside from all the stripping is some good emotional scenes too, in places it's nice to take a breather and actually focus on some of the troubles of a male stripper like what happens next? and how do we keep our routines fresh to continue making a living? Of course, all the hot bods are nice to look at too, Channing Tatum's final dance had me wondering why I wasn't cast as an extra and Matt Bomer too *-* but yeah, the movie holds up well aside from that for me as well. http://i.imgur.com/uSGyITt.jpg 38. The Intern Suprisingly this was probably one of the most beautifully shot movies of the year, every scene had gorgeous sunshine shining through the windows or just generally vibrant colours and coming out of it you were in a massive good mood because it was all just so uplifting. Of course, not the funniest film of the year but it was all light and fun and each character was so likeable despite their flaws and Anne and Robert had such a lovely friendship that kept on building that was just so interesting to watch. From the trailers, this didn't seem like a particularly interesting film but once you get to see the whole thing, you can't help but get wrapped up in the charm. http://i.imgur.com/JzuCz6h.jpg 39. The Theory of Everything This is another movie I put off for a little while because I didn't think it would be that interesting and thought due to the title it would focus more on the science side of things rather than his life but what we ended up getting was such a beautiful and sad story too. Eddie Redmayne blew me away with his performance, all the specially crafted facial ticks and just the way he embodied Stephen at many different stages of his motor neurone disease was expertly done. Felicity Jones also did a very impressive job and also made you feel sympathetic for her character too, especially when they split up. The film was just very well told and each stage in his life was so interesting to follow hence the rather good placing here. http://i.imgur.com/t1sgouh.jpg 40. Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation This was so much higher at one point but as I've started to whittle the list down, I realised how this had pretty much no lasting impact on me. I couldn't remember anything about the plot at all and only a select few shots and I only watched it about five months ago so for that reason I can't put it too much higher. The action was all excellently done and a lot more interesting than Spectre in that aspect and I loved how much lighter and personality-filled this was than the aforementioned one, I'm not really sure why Bond is so popular when Daniel Craig looks so bored and Tom Cruise and even Henry Cavill/Armie Hammer yet to come look so much more happy to be in their films. I also remember Rebecca Ferguson being really badass so hope we get to see her in more things, she really shone for me in the opera scene which was a lot of fun to watch. Simon Pegg as usual did his thing too and provided us with a good few jokes which is always nice to have.
February 8, 20169 yr I rather liked Rogue Nation, I'm not normally one for action movies or Tom Cruise but I saw the last MI movie mainly down to Jeremy Renner. This wasn't as good as Ghost Protocol but I preferred Rebecca to Paula in terms of the action femme fatale of the piece.
February 8, 20169 yr Hi •Josh• Don't know what I can add about Lady in the Van, the commentary is just spot on (I'm laughing about the Virgin Mary just thinking about it) So glad I got to see The Intern when there was nothing else I fancied seeing (I think your thread for it helped). Even though the trailer didn't stick out it ended up being one of my absolute favourites of the year, a wonderful cast and so much charm (although I love Robert de Niro delivering sex jokes just as much as it turns out). Had me totally hooked and smiling throughout. Should get around to those Magic Mike movies...(I mean, if I can turn up alone to a showing of Fifty Shades of Grey )

Even I rented Magic Mike from iTunes instead of actually going to the cinema, too embarrassing and hard to explain to others :heehee: Thanks Jahq :D I rather liked Rogue Nation, I'm not normally one for action movies or Tom Cruise but I saw the last MI movie mainly down to Jeremy Renner. February 9, 20169 yr Author http://i.imgur.com/NdiWxnv.jpg 31. Amy Much like the Malala documentary film, this is a bit lower than perhaps it should be due to lack of cinematic experience, it makes a very good documentary but it doesn't really warrant going to the cinema to see it. It felt so good to finally have a proper insight and see home footage on her personality and what sadly pushed her over the age. The scenes in the studio were my favourites because you could just see the raw talent oozing out of her, it was really upsetting to see how much she didn't want the fame and it began to turn her to drugs because she always wanted to be an out-of-the-limelight jazz singer. It was lovely to see the seen with her melting after meeting Tony Bennett too, such a funny girl and it makes you even more angry at her Dad when he does stuff like bring cameras to the place where she's just started recovering.. Such a tragic story and waste of talent but it was nice to see it told right. http://i.imgur.com/tM35A6h.jpg 32. San Andreas One problem I actually had with this movie was that it just started getting a bit boring towards the end when it was just endless crashing buildings and debris shots but for the most part it was all quite thrilling and of course so visually pleasing to watch CGI cities get destroyed. All the leads were very likeable, especially charisma-lord The Rock and Alexandra Daddario who also proved to be a good action movie star, I really liked the two British characters as well, thought that trio had cute chemistry. I loved how it just kept on getting worse and worse and then there was a massive tsunami and all, like what's going to happen next? http://i.imgur.com/GAZZsvA.jpg 33. The Walk I feel like going into this, I wasn't very excited at all because I didn't get how they could flesh out such a quick moment into a long film but how wrong was I, this was really captivating from start to finish. The first third was so charming and JGL played the character so well that you enjoyed seeing the less exciting parts of his life and him just practicing his trade. The second half was like a great action movie almost, there was tension and it felt like a heist movie in parts which was also very enjoyable. Then the last part was just breathtaking, the parts when he started lieing down on the wire and walking back and forth just felt almost too daring to be true so I was shocked when I got home and found out it was all true, it was so suspenseful and you thought he was just going to fall off at any moment. I think the fact that each part was so different made it really enjoyable throughout. http://i.imgur.com/ssSFlvl.jpg 34. Birdman This is one movie I was never expecting to like because it just didn't seem all that exciting but I loved the whole plot and the messages about an old star wanting success from critics, and respect from his daughter and to be with his wife where none of that is coming to fruition and how that is for him to handle. The acting in this from everybody was insane, my personal favourites being Edward Norton who just nailed his character and not for one millisecond dropped out of character and Emma Stone, especially for her monologue scene which she did really well to do all in one take. I liked all the Birdman symbolism parts too and the ambiguous ending as well, it massively shocked me when he used the real gun and whether he really did die. A worthy winner of Best Picture imo although I can't comment fully as I haven't seen Boyhood. http://i.imgur.com/q5C6gPq.jpg 35. Pixels I like pretty much all Adam Sandler films unlike everyone else ever because sometimes I'm just in the mood for silly humour. This was probably one of the better ones because it had such fun action sequences and graphics. All the battle scenes were well executed and just visually so enjoyable to watch. This film was just fun for a bit of light entertainment, a couple of good jokes and loads of good popcorn moments, it was so much fun to see a giant Pacman destroying the city and people inside a Donkey Kong game that I could easily overlook the plot holes.
February 9, 20169 yr Ghost Protocol is worth it for these two moments alone tbh http://i.imgur.com/ix1wGyO.gif http://i.imgur.com/tt7zzGV.gif I rather liked San Andreas, Kylie's cameo had me in stitches  much as I love her, she can't really act for shit.
