Are Sigma a big name in UK?

I only heard of them once, when they collaborated with Ella.

Sigma have had a few hits in the UK. I actually had the wrong group in my head when i first read the post. The act i was thinking of was Sigala.

Sigma had two #1's in 2014 - Nobody To Love and Changing, as well as a few other hits.

I've always wanted to hear Take That on a dance record and I like a lot of Sigma's stuff so this sounds like a really interesting collaboration.

I'm showing my ignorance here, but I've never heard of them. By the way is there any truth in the story that Gary's already written 25 songs for the new album? It's come from one of the down market papers so I'm unsure how reliable their information is.

Fantastic opportunity to get a hit single! Also very smart to bridge the gap between the album and the summer.

They are well known, but I imagine the song will be more in vain of a club song!

I heard that too, does anyone have a link?

It will be a great bridge of gap and its a duet that could work wonderfully well. I am hungry to hear this.

Dylan, Gary said it at the meeting with the fans last Thursday. It's on the video I showed you, that's where The Sun got its "source" :)

Gary was making a case of how important that laptop or whatever it was was for him, because it had over 40-45 songs, including the new TT album :)

I'll have to check Sigma past their collab with Ella. That one was pleasant, but I'm not really a fan of dance music. We'll have to wait and see how it works out.

It's funny we had this news, cause,, last week, I was debating whether to address in this forum the idea of a collab - if you'd be open to one, who would you like the collab to be with and so on and so forth. As much as I rattle my brain, I can't think of anyone I'd like TT to collaborate with or who would blend well with the group.

That's the thing, TT haven't (bar Lulu) never really entertained the idea...but I think it is a wise move.

Robbie has done a few collabs over the years, as has Gary...are sigma well-known in the US?

It could be a wise move, as long as it's done properly, with quality artists who also have a large fanbase. The problem is I can't think of anyone who fits all the criteria.

Christina Aguilera's voice could blend well with Gary's and they already know each other.

For me, my dream collab would be TT and Lara Fabian, but that won't happen

And, although I'm not an Ed Sheeran fan, I think a collab with him could work well.

Aren't Sigma just an UK act?

It's not related to the topic in this thread, but I found an old video and it's so hilarious I had to share it with you:

That's the chemistry we all love in TT...and the banter...and the teasing :)))

Haha great video! Can't get over how different Gary looks!

Doesn't he just!!! It's difficult to reconcile his look then with now.

I've noticed that Gary's look changes day on day and much depends on his hair style. If you look at his style at the Eddie the Eagle album launch and the premiere it's completely different to his normal look and alters his face shape considerably. Howard hardly seems to change, Mark is ageing rapidly and his present longer hair style ages him in my opinion, and controversially I think Rob has had some subtle surgery over the past year or so :)

As for the reunion - if they leave it much longer Howard will be eligible for a bus pass :)

This upcoming Sigma duet will be interesting to watch. It is a new direction (even if short lived) for Take That. I would believe this will give both acts another top 10 hit. Should this be the outcome and Take That follow up with the lead single from their new album there is a possibility of 2 back to back top 10 hits for Take That. We have not seen that happen for a very long time now.

I have some hope that the duet could potentially be a number 1 hit.

It could very well be. I was astonished by how many youtube views these guys have. If those views translate at least into a fraction of sales, we could be looking at one of TT's most successful singles.

Edit: just had a look on Wikipedia and Sigma haven't had any no 1 yet :( This collab may, after all, benefit Sigma more than TT.

Sigma have had 2 number 1s

Sigma have had 2 number 1s

As I said, I only looked on wikipedia, cause I don't know anything about these guys, aside from Glitterball. I saw that they had 3 no ones on iTunes, but that's it.

Were those 2 no 1s in UK? Do you know how much they sold? Do they have any form of success outside UK?

I read that their last album peaked at 28 - does this mean they're more of a singles artists rather than album artists?

Nobody to Love and Changing were the number 1 hits by Sigma. Both individually sold over 500,000 copies each. They have also had other hits including Glitterball and Higher. Their album peaked at number 28 as it was a q4 release but it has been certified silver and is still selling.

Oh god, sometimes I feel so old on this forum. Know absolutely nothing about this band - so off I go to look them up on You Tube. TT seem to be branching out in all directions and simply enjoying their music. I do hope this collaboration is a good one, but I'm no fan off dance music. Nevertheless I'll remain positive - you never know this could be a great move for the band.
