All the #1's so far this year have been fairly similar and from what I've heard 7 Years fits that too. Ideally, there'd be more variety but that'll come. A repeat of the Get Lucky/Blurred Lines summer would be most welcome!

In 10/15 years time, nobody will care that the likes of Lean On, Can't Feel My Face, Hotline Bling or Trap Queen weren't chart toppers - a classic is a classic no matter where it charts.

Maybe apart from Lean On the other 3 tracks will be long forgotten already next year. Only hardcore urban fans will remember them... Like you :heehee:

i'd say Hotline Bling will be remembered the most, like it or not

The songs he mentioned have had an undeniable huge impact though, I don't imagine they'll be forgotten quickly..

 27. DJ Fresh & High Contrast feat. Dizzee Rascal - How Love Begins

Flops.

Fortunately for DJ Fresh he will get a hit next month presumably with him being featured on Sigala 'Say You Do'.

That's like saying only hardcore urban fans remember In Da Club, Hey Ya or Gold Digger because they weren't #1's

Maybe more pop-orientated fans will forget them as pop music is all about "the now". Maybe in five/ten years time they'll be more remembered as "cult hits" like The Hills or In2. I can't see them being forgotten anytime soon though!

Well we are thinking here totally differently. And I didn't say anything about number 1's I don't know why you came up with that comparison. As I said Lean On yes (maybe also Can't Feel My Face), but to compare Hotline Bling or Trap Queen to smashes like In Da Club or Hey Ya is wrong. They are not a patch on those 2 tracks.

In Da Club and Hey Ya were instant hits everywhere and were easy like them.

Hotline Bling is rather successful because it's a bit weird and different, and I'm pretty sure Trap Queen is more liked in the urban clubs and by urban fans, also majority of its sales come from streaming, that also shows to me that it's rather an urban hit than a mainstream hit. Urban hits tend to stay longer high on streaming charts, In2 is another example but also The Weeknd's songs were high as well. Also your new favourite Bryson Tiller looks to have more streaming sales than normal sales. Don't for example is top 40 on Apple Music.

One more thing, I'm not a pop-oriented fan, my taste is much more wide ranged than you think, from pop to dance, from RnB to rock, new age, classical music. I also really like chart music, and I follow music charts and trends since I'm 12 or so. I don't say I'm the best on saying what can be remembered what is a classic hit in 10 years, but a little bit of feeling I have.

As far as I see in your posts, your taste is limited into 2-3 genres and rather the sub-genres of those and you're not really interested in the charts itself, only following the progress of the songs you like. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad thing, but I just think you can't really forecast what could be remembered as a classic song in 5-10 years :D

Well, who knows what the KISSTORY of 2025 will play but I'm sure some of the songs I mentioned will be fondly remembered by people my age as In Da Club or Hey Ya are fondly remembered by the 19/20 year olds of 2003. Of course I don't know for definite!

I'm not talking about anybody in particular when I say 'pop-oriented' fans, on here or otherwise, just making an observation that pop music by nature is 'current' and quick to write off songs as forgotten. Appreciate the broad music taste of members here too (for the record I think my own taste of artists and genres, whilst predominantly urban, is more broad than given credit for. That's not too important though.).

I've read that it's going to be a single? I can't remember where I saw that though.

7 years has had a few red updates on kworb but on the other hand there's a 2nd version climbing at 43
