Posted September 27, 200618 yr Such a legend, he was easily the best thrash metal bassist of all time. Metallica were never the same after he died in switzerland. One of my hero's, the word great gets thrown around alot but Cliff deserves to be called a great musican cos thats what he was, great. :( http://www.brasil2000.com.br/imagens/Cliff%20Burton.jpg i'm sure Metallica and other bay area thrashers will be having a get together to remember him.
September 28, 200618 yr I honestly believe that Metallica lost a major part of themselves as a band when Cliff Burton died, because nothing they've done can really match "Master of Puppets" for me..... That was Metallica's "Revolver" or "Nevermind the Bollocks" for me....

November 9, 200618 yr I agree with you both. I love a lot of Metallica's albums but "Master Of Puppets" has to stand out as their best ever. Musically they couldn't live up to what that album left, although Jason made a pretty good job and their follow-ups were pretty good too.

Musically they couldn't live up to what that album left, although Jason made a pretty good job and their follow-ups were pretty good too. "...And Justice For All" - way too dense and technically complex.... They concentrated too much on technique and not enough on writing decent songs... About half the songs on this album are dull and uninspiring, came as a huge disappointment to me after "Master..."... "Black Album" - The singles were all extremely strong, unfortunately many of the non-single tracks are pretty forgettable.. "Load" - Pretty all over the place, no real focus "Re-Load" - Never really saw the point of it tbh.... "S&M" - Rather pretentious, has its moments though... "St Anger" - I have no idea just what the hell it was they tried to do there... If it was an attempt to incorporate a sort of 'Nu Metal' sound into their style, then it fell totally flat for me.... They succeeded only in alienating a lot of their fans.... I've listened to it a total of three times...
November 14, 200618 yr Author I like Justice, there are a few songs on there that are boring, but i adore "One" and like "Blackened", "Harvester Of Sorrows" and "Dyers Eve" alot ^_^ Your pretty spot on with your opinion on Black Album Scot :D Load and Reload were $h!t I like Garage, Inc. they did very good with those covers, the new recordings aren't as good as the old ones like "Last Caress", "Helpless" or "Am I Evil?" St Anger, i think it's better then Reload and think it's better then some people say but it's still a poor album.
