February 27, 20169 yr Author Josh is going to do Visual Effects, i'm going to start doing quick write-ups for Spy and Brooklyn and then we will post all the remaining write-ups for best picture nominees and then do the big 7 categories (I have a feeling I didn't put down Best Director for anyone so who wants to do that?) What are the remaining write-ups that need to be done?
February 27, 20169 yr http://i.imgur.com/q0c52jE.jpg BEST VISUAL EFFECTS 01. Jurassic World (5 votes) 02. Ex_Machina (4 votes) 03. Mad Max: Fury Road (3 votes) (5 second preferences) 04. Star Wars: The Force Awakens (3 votes) (2 second preferences) 05. Ant-Man (1 vote) Jurassic World wins for the excellent dinosaur effects featured in it, shocked it didn't get nominated for the Oscar because I thought the CGI in it was great. Ex Machina also managed to do a great job in that aspect by making all the robots seem so real too. I also really like the effects in Mad Max, all of the explosions just looked fantastic.
February 27, 20169 yr Margot Robbie is quite attractive but Alicia Vikander and Scarlett Johansson are really gorgeous imo.
February 27, 20169 yr Author The next film fighting it out for Best Picture, and one of the funniest comedies of the decade http://i67.tinypic.com/egy1y8.jpg SPY Words by Me Absolutley loved this and it was so so funny and entertaining. Mellisa McCarthy was on top form as ever- I love her so much. Rose Byrne was amazing as usual and Jason/Jude were great, I also loved Miranda despite hating her comedy series (though I love her in call the midwife) and just everything about this was amazing  Rose and Jason and Melissa should have all got more attention this Oscar season, along with the movie itself, especially for the hilarious and funny script! Sorry for awful commentary, completely rushing the seperate movies commenatries!
February 27, 20169 yr Let's have another Best Picture contender (kinda getting lost by this point :heehee:) Mad Max: Fury Road http://www.scifinow.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Mad-Max-Dated-Quad.jpg Summed up by notfurlong Who would have had thought that the fourth film in a hibernating franchise would prove one of the artistic high points of 2015? Twenty years of George Miller's wild ideas finally came together in astonishing fashion, with epic set pieces and crazed chases meeting feminist rebellion and nihilistic despair. The film is the purest kind of cinematic rush, with some of the most striking images seen on a big screen this century.
February 27, 20169 yr Author Yeah I'm completely lost but think we are getting on track! I think it's just Hunger Games/Brooklyn/Director then we are back on track at last *.*
February 27, 20169 yr So many good Best Picture nominations :D I've just been thinking that whilst reading people's write-ups, I agree with all of them and what people are saying. Only one I wouldn't have would be It Follows but it's not my thing at all, the other 10 are all spectacular.
February 27, 20169 yr Author BEST DIRECTOR http://i65.tinypic.com/34q60dc.jpg 01. George Miller- Mad Max: Fury Road- 5 02. Lenny Abrahamson- Room- 4 03. Ridley Scott- The Martian- 2 (5 second preferences) 04. JJ Abrams- Star Wars 7- 2 (2 second preferences) 04. Todd Haynes- Carol- 2 (2 second preferences) Mad Max: Fury Road picks up the all important best director award, can it make this lead to a best picture win. George Miller's direction on the movie was absolutely fantastic and is a well deserving winner here. For the other Sci-Fi movies, Ridley did better than I expected while I expected JJ to win so I'm shocked he came that low :o Lenny also surprisingly nearly won for his great direction for Room and Todd Haynes came last for Carol but still did well. Now just the big 6 to go, predictions?
February 27, 20169 yr Author Ok so after Jahq (I think) posts the Brooklyn and Mockingjay commentaries, we will get on with the big five awards (4 acting and best picture)! The poster award will come tomorrow as I cba to count that one up tonight :)
February 27, 20169 yr One you've all been waiting for Brooklyn http://cdn1-www.comingsoon.net/assets/uploads/2015/07/banner-brooklyn-Brooklyn_Film_844x476.jpg What UV has to say Brooklyn is one of the most beautiful, powerful and stunning films of the decade so far. Elevated by a shining star turn by the incredible Saoirse Ronan (who really should be winning more awards this season for her performance as Ellis) who gives one of my favourite ever performances and can make you feel every emotion and makes her character interesting and relatable! The whole cast is incredible, Emory Cohen is beautiful as Saoirse's love interest and captivates the screen in whatever scene he is in and Julie Walters provides great moments of light relief and utter fun. A beautiful movie that is easily my favourite of 2015 :heart:What Jahq has to say Ah Brooklyn, my favourite movie of last year (as I'm sure everyone knows now :P). It plays out like a romance with Ellis having to make a choice between two guys but it's so much more with that choice also being about two lifes, two countries etc. It has humour from the wonderful Julie Walters, emotion and heartbreak with the death of Rose, the sister, romance as mentioned and themes of homesickness which I can definitely relate to at times. Emory Cohen is gorgeous, who wouldn't fall for him, and Saoirse delivers an excellent expressive performance. It's not action packed, it's not a thriller but it's thoroughly charming all the way through and kept me hooked. Lovely ending too that shows the story coming full circle.
February 27, 20169 yr Author Would have done a lot longer commentary if not getting these ones out of the way quickly! Maybe I'll do one before the Oscars tomorrow night if anyone is interested  Though please check Brooklyn out if you haven't already, absolutely magnificent movie (and both the movie mods favourite film of 2015!)!
February 27, 20169 yr Lenny Abrahamson would definitely be my choice for director because I loved Room so much and thought the direction was great but he obviously stands no chance in the real Oscars so hopefully it'll go to George Miller or Tom McCarthy.
February 27, 20169 yr Definitely would've liked Room to win Best Director as I think it must've been a great challenge working with the small set for the room and getting the best out of Jacob. But also Mad Max wasn't my thing so was never rooting for that. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 http://cinemastar.pl/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/igrzyska-smierci-kosoglos-2-onlinecda.jpg Write-up by Josh The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 was the final instalment of the beloved Hunger Game series and it was pretty great. So great that Buzzjack members nominated it for Best Picture of the year. Jennifer Lawrence did another great job as Katniss, she really brought her A-game once again and there were some great moments like the cat scene towards the end where you could really tell how much her struggles had eaten away at her well-being. There was of course some great action scenes too including a very tense sewer scene and a few more traps in the Capitol with some great visual effects to go with it. The ending was really pleasing too seeing all the plots tie together and it felt like a great ending to the franchise. The first two may have been a lot more action-packed but I liked the route that the last two went and I'm sad to see the story come to a head. Hopefully we get some spin-off films in a couple of years.
