Rockruff has been revealed to have day and night evolutions, and the credible Chinese source has said that Rockruff and the starters have something in common, so it's theorised that the starters do have two possible evolutions - one for day and one for night. It would make sense, somewhat, as Rockruff seems to have been pegged as key to the promotion of Sun and Moon perhaps because of the day and night evoltuions, so they're probably going to be utilising that a lot more in the new games. Tbh though the Rockruff evolution kind of look like form changes rather than a totally split evolution such as Gloom into Vileplume/Bellossom, so the changes may just be aesthetic for the starters because I've heard that banded about. I expect Rockruff will gain a typing in addition to Rock, probably Dark for night and maybe Fairy for day.

And here they are! Both evolutions are game-exclusive.

 

 

Kinda disappointing that they're both still Rock-type but I think the move pools will be drastically different.

I think maybe it's just one evolution but day and night forms, so a different typing and look for if you evolve it during the day and likewise if you evolve it during the night

I'm choosing Popplio after that *.* I rarely choose Water first so it'll be a nice change.

What do people think of Ash-Greninja

The demo was boring af. Ash-Greninja can gtfo. I get the horrible feeling they're moving more towards kids who casually watch the anime with this gen and I hope that doesn't marr it for the fans.

 

I am still excited for the game though because the ORAS demo was boring af too, it was just to get a feel for the scope of the game which was so there!

I did hear that the Ash-Greninja thing was separate from the actual storyline so yaaaay :P

It's why I refuse to choose the fire starter now, Blaziken was unique at the time but now it's just overkill.

This might be the best batch of final evolutions since Hoenn. FIRE/DARK. HELL YES.

Grass/Ghost, Fire/Dark and Water/Fairy are definitely refreshing typings for final-evolution starters. Though we already do have Trevenant as a good grass-ghost type.

There doesn't have to be just one of each type combo, there's already Azumarill for Water/Fairy and Houndoom for Fire/Dark :lol: I like the refreshing types too though, when the starter evos leaked I was dreading yet another Fire/Fighting from the way Litten's final form looks but Dark is much better. I suppose is too with fighting dirty and tricky.

 

I am 100% choosing Popplio though, it's beautiful and I don't tend to take to many water types so it's nice to be able to have one right off the bat, especially with how OP Fairy can be at times as well. I am planning to get Sun and Moon tbh, so I'll probably choose Rowlett for my "secondary" game which will probably be Moon.

Someone's got the whole game and it's been datamined, so spoilers below but just some interesting bits about stats and potential becasue I wanted to look at that:

 

 

The starters are all kinda slow; but my decision to go with Primarina is solidified now as it has amazing Sp Atk *.* Actually there seem to be a lot of slow Pokemon this gen.

Wishiwashi has the lowest base stat total ever - 175 which is 5 less than Sunkern! But its school form has 620, which I believe is the highest of any non-Slaking legendary or Mega.

Mudsdale is gonna be tanky af, it already had 100 base defence combined with the Stamina ability.

Crabrawler's evolution is Ice/Fighting, which gives it something interesting I guess.

Salandit is this gen's Combee - it only evolves into Salazzle if female but has a 7:1 male to female ratio... I hope it's easier to obtain than Combee was in Sinnoh because it was gonna be my Fire type :/

Wimpod is basically a bug Magikarp, useless and only learns two level up moves but its evolution Golispod gives it a +200 BST and a very good movepool.

Silvally has 95 in each stat, and I think its line might be event only like Zorua/Zororak, which is a shame as it'd be good to use.

Togedemaru has the best stats of a Pikachu clone, only slightly more than Dedenne though.

Mimikkyu has pretty bad Sp Atk but is other decent, it's very specially defensive. It learns Wood Hammer oddly, as well as decent physical attacks like Play Rough, Shadow Claw and Feint Attack.

The weird anchor thing is called Dhelmsie and is very good all around except for speed, it's ghost and grass. Potential team member for me, it has a very good movepool.

Zygarde 100% is second only to Arceus in BST, with 708.

Cosmog can't do anything, it just has splash and teleport and a woeful 200 BST so it's more to do with story but I won't spoil that.

Cosmoem is similar, it has Cosmic Power instead of Splash though and a BST of 400 because it has huge defences.

Solgaleo and Lunaala both have 680 BST.

Marshadow is not a dolphin as speculated, it's a little ghosty thing which is part Fighting, it has 600 BST as does Magearna.

I'm disappointed there are no out there type combos like Fire/Grass or a proper Fire/Water type that isn't legendary.

 

 

 

Ultra beasts:

 

Their names are Nihlego (Rock/Poison, the jellyfish one), Buzzwole (Bug/Fighting, the big muscly one), Phermosa (Bug/Fighting, the female looking one which is the other form of Buzzwole for Moon), Xurkitree (Electric, a thing that looks lik e its made of plug wires with fuzzy grey "hair"), Celestia (Steel/Flying, a weird thing that has two floating arms.. god knows what it is), Katarna (Grass/Steel, a little blade thing), Guzzlord (Dark/Dragon, a massive mouth thing with claws), Necrozma (Psychic, a black kind of vaguely humanoid metal looking thing, I think it's the "main" Ultra Beast or leader as it has 600 BST but the others have 570.)

THey all have the ability "Beast Boost" which boosts their best stat when they knock out a Pokemon, except Necrozma who has Prism Armor which makes super effective hits on it deal less damage.

I have to say I expected more from Ultra Beasts, for them to have less base stats than (or the same as in Necrozma's case) a pseudo-legendary is a bit eh. I thought they'd have like 700+ BST, unique moves and be like a true boss!

 

 

Alolan forms:

 

They have the same BSTs in most cases, but some stats are swapped just slightly. Dugtrio is a notable exception, it has a 20 point increase because of increased defences and attack. It's secondary type is STEEL :lol: The hair is supposed to be some sort of metallic substance to do with it burrowing in magma or something.

Geodude is rock/electric. It can have a new ability (only hidden) called Galvanise which is basically electric type Pixilate/Normalize.

 

 

 

 

I think my team inititally will be Primarina, Vikavolt, Salazzle, Mimmikyu, an Alolan form or two (tbh the only ones I'm THAT interested in is Vulpix :/), maybe Dhelmsie/Kommo-o/Golispod/Tsarina, it depends when and where they are available I guess. I doubt I will use any old Pokemon unless my choices are available too late in the game or something.

Did/Has/Will anyone download a Digital Copy?

 

I downloaded Digitally since X/Y - super convenient.

This year you can pre-order and the game actually pre-loads to your 3DS. All you need to do when the game is live is download a small patch to unlock the game.

You get a bonus of a few Quick Balls and a Muchlax with something to help him get the Z Move or whatever.

The only shitty thing was it took almost 1 1/2 hours to download on my device. I have the highest speed of internet you can get in Canada and it still took that long, I couldn't imagine how long it would take for someone with a slower internet. But again. Pretty much from 10 PM tomorrow night I can start playing.

We get it next week </3 Can we keep story spoilers out of this thread til then please just in case :kink: That's the one thing I haven't ruined for myself!
