June 6, 20178 yr I think from a live stream that I was watching the "alternative story" might be Gym Leaders? Would love a "back to basics" kind of feel. Also the "Pokémon you've never seen before" is probably referring to both Alolan forms and maybe some Pokémon that were cut from the beta? The "you've never seen before" will probably just be the alternate forms of the box legendaries lmao, they never add new Pokemon in 3rd versions because of the connectivity issues but they could easily patch that in with an update really, or just have it so you just can't connecct to SuMo if you battle with or trade those Pokemon. I can imagine gym leaders, with the two universes thing and darkness/space, it'll be an alternate reality sort of thing where if they had gyms all along, idk  Hopefully there's more in CoroCoro this month or next. Perhaps the trial leaders will have different types and stuff and the Totems will be different to fit the alternate reality thing?
June 6, 20178 yr gen 7 megas are always a possibility can you imagine mega primarina tho it would be EPIC
June 6, 20178 yr I'd love if, being an alternate reality, the Pokemon had like opposite typings but ofc that would never happen, it'd be way too much work to re-type Pokemon, it'd be like creating a whole new Pokedex which would take years rather than just the one year  Tbh an different story is fine for me, because I don't feel like I'd replay Sun and Moon that often because it's so story driven that there are huge portions that are so boring when you replay, which I don't feel with pretty much all the main series games. So I don't mind its not a direct sequel as a different story will just mean it's like playing through SuMo again but in a fresher way.
June 7, 20178 yr I think it's more that it takes too much time and money developing new sprites whereas with Megas and Alolan forms the original sprites can be altered (not taking to account Shinies and gender differences), and even if they did have enough money, there was also a matter of space. So they could have made more Alolan forms and alternative types (like Lycanroc), but their data weren't used for SuMo. Did they do this with Platinum? I forget :P Still thinking the Gen 7 starters will get Megas though

I forget :P Platinum was different, in Diamond and Peal you could get the new late-Pokedex evolutions like Leafeon, Glaceon, Rhyperior so they were coded into the game, so they weren't new to that "sequel", but you couldn't get them until after the league with the PokeRadar thing whereas in Platinum you could get, for example, Eevee in the main playthrough which was one of the differences. I expect an even wider range of Pokemon will be something we see in the sequel and SuMo was already great for that imo. Sadly we know everything that was in Sun & Moon because people can data mine for whatever is in the game's files, for example Marshadow wasn't revealed and wasn't available but we knew it existed because of data mining. Megas are different though because you can't trade or transfer the stones, so I definitely think new Megas are likely. So, like the gen 3 remakes had Megas you couldn't get or trade to X and Y, there will probably be new ones you can only have on Ultra Sun and Moon. Of course they could just code in new pokemon or Alolan Forms and have it so that you get stopped from trading them to SuMo, but they've never done it before so I'm hesitant to think it'd happen this time, whereas Megas can easily be restricted to the one game because you aren't allowed to trade the stones between games so for example you can't have Mega Altaria in X&Y. Perhaps in the "alternate" storyline, Mega Evolution will be much more of a thing that you get in the main story rather than it just being farted out in the post game as an aside  That would be a good way to change up the story a bit.
July 1, 20178 yr First Ultra Sun and Moon rumours ahoy, take with a pinch of salt ofc as we never got the Water Arcanine or Fighting Alakazam for example but: New Pokemon WILL be in the regional dex, some Pokemon with different forms - for example there is a ballet Oricorio form that is Ice/Flying and other Oricorio forms will feature too. New Alolan forms, this time focusing on Johto Pokemon. Bellossom (Poison/Fairy), Xatu, Remoraid line (Water/Steel) and Hoppip line (Grass/Steel) are getting Alolan forms.
July 18, 20178 yr LILLIE IS APPARENTLY THE RIVAL RIP ME, QUEEN Also there is meant to be Ice type Slugma line, Ground Snubbul, Ground/Fighting Granbull, Steel/Poison Qwilfish, Poison/Dark gangster form Salazzle, Ghost/Dark horror form Mimikyu and a new thing called Z-Abilities that can't stack with Z-Moves. Not really interested in any of those lot apart from Mimikyu, Salazzle being fire was it's whole cool thing really but Mimikyu could be interesting - could horror form be what's under the cloak? :o

They could have picked a different type for Slugma though? Like liquid ice doesn't make sense to me.
July 18, 20178 yr The water Arcanine rumour ruined it for me, was so hyped for it and when it wasn't true I lost interest (still haven't got the first badge)!
September 13, 20177 yr Omg tho it looks like Lt. Surge's gym that Ryuki is standing in just befoe the Alolan Vulpix on the table is shown... KANTO PLZ (it won't be it'll just be a homage lmao like there's probably gonna be gyms so one will be like Surge's)
January 6, 20187 yr Anone got Ultra Sun or moon? Tbh I found it much better than Sun and Moon just for the slight enhancements, I preferred the story when they did change it, the trials seemed that bit harder (I know totem Lurantis was a c**t anyway but there were a few more too, THE f***ING MIMMIKYU THIS TIME DEAR LORD) and the little interactive things all built up to make it much better. It was such simple or small things seemingly, such as different SOS Pokemon for the totems that made it a bit more challenging as Sun and Moon was SO easy, it's not hard really obviously but Pokemon seldom is.

I've not played Ultra yet but I was a bit disappointed with the difficulty level in the originals, as you said it was so goddamn easy. I know they are obviously now trying to cater to a new generation of Pokemon players but honestly it was like they were trying to hold my hand for way longer than necessary. For the next one I think if they are going to continue with the eased difficulty they should bring in actual modes, which slightly alter the levels and movesets of enemy Pokemon and trainers to make it a bit more challenging.
January 7, 20187 yr It still is a bit too child friendly tbh but at least the totems were something. Like the first game they do hold your hand for the entire first island but it's not so bad once you've done that, but there is the little things like signposting EVERYTHING that still feels a tad patronising at times. It's far from impossible or as hard as some of the "boss" encounters in other games, but better than nothing. I agree they should have difficulty modes, it's ridiculous that in over 20 years of the series only once has there been that option and that was when you'd completed Black and White 2 in the first place! Tonnes and tonnes of other games do it so I don't know why Pokemon can't. It's almost selling out a bit, there's all these fans who have been there for ages and grown up with it who'll buy every game but they pander to the kids market.
