February 28, 20169 yr Author Of course Frans is doing the best on iTunes, Spotify and YouTube of the finalists but couldn't he be a similar case to Samir & Viktor in regards to why they are so high? I was wondering yesterday why Samir & Viktor do so well on these platforms yet it doesn't translate into votes, and I guess Frans appeals to the same demographic - could it not just be that this demographic is a very active one, yet in the context of a final wouldn't get the votes from the other demographics which would put him under pressure? The problem is that said demographic pretty much owns Melodifestivalen now with the app voting. Samir & Viktor only really underwhelmed last year because app voting was cancelled for the final. And not to mention that Samir & Viktor have only been the most popular in the last four weeks by comparison with other andra chansen entrants - it's fairly typical for a potential winner to dominate on all platforms once all the songs are released! In any case, I doubt If I Were Sorry is as demographically-exclusive in its appeal as Samir & Viktor are. You aren't going to find many self-respecting over-30s grooving away to Groupie or Bada nakna. You probably would find a fair few who'd be happy to say they like If I Were Sorry.
February 28, 20169 yr Ah yes I keep forgetting about the app voting fail in the final last year, although it makes you wonder if the televote will be more evenly spread with everyone giving everyone 5 votes! I guess people have to be less decisive now so that could minimise Frans' advantage who it would seem would be top favourite for lots of people but people may just throw votes at their other faves as well. Anyway, 15 songs are good enough to have made it to my playlist so here is my top 15: 01. Robin Bengtsson - Constellation Prize 02. Molly Sandén - Youniverse 03. Wiktoria - Save Me 04. Molly Pettersson Hammar - Hunger 05. Lisa Ajax - My Heart Wants Me Dead 06. Isa - I Will Wait 07. Ace Wilder - Don't Worry 08. Frans - If I Were Sorry 09. Oscar Zia - Human 10. SaRaha - Kizunguzungu 11. Mimi Werner - Ain't No Good 12. Dolly Style - Rollercoaster 13. David Lindgren - We Are Your Tomorrow 14. Krista Siegfrids - Faller 15. Smilo - Weight Of The World I'll be intrigued to see how much Frans grows on me over the next week, as Robin's amazingness took a few days to fully set in and this is a similar sort of song.
February 28, 20169 yr Shock horror most of this forum hates Frans. The song is an acceptable bop, and deserved to come top 4 here. I think it possibly won't win if Samir + Viktor make the final due to them splitting the vote. Molly's song is alright, but lets be honest it's not going to win Eurovision and it's not doing anything new. Based on the finalists we know, I would say that it will be an Ace, Robin & Oscar top 3. AC may change that, but who knows. Also poor Dolly Style, against anyone other than Samir + Viktor they probably would have got to the final, it's not happening for them this year. Also why Saraha against ISA. Those four are probably the best songs in AC and only 2 will progress. Sad times.
February 28, 20169 yr I don't even really believe 'splitting the vote'. If a song is popular is enough, I'm pretty sure it will just win - Popular and In The Club in 2011 is a good example of that, I think. They were both popular enough to come top 2 but it didn't hinder Eric in any way.
February 28, 20169 yr Oh Dear God... Wiktoria's Studio Version of "Save Me" is terrible. What the hell... she was 1000x better live?!

I don't think Eric and Danny's target markets overlapped quite as much as we'd think - one was pretty much straight-up EDM against what was essentially modernised schlager, just both performed by teen appeal men.
February 28, 20169 yr Not only that but there's the fact that Robin and Frans will also have their target market contested with by Oscar and Samir & Viktor. Honestly at this point I'd even accept me/Oscar winning if it meant #StopFrans2016 could work.

February 29, 20169 yr Bloody hell, that's enough for it to be top 75 on the global chart too! To say it's only slightly lower numbers than the No.1 on UK Spotify is getting daily at the moment...and Sweden's population is about a seventh of ours. That is one wildly popular song!
February 29, 20169 yr But keep in mind that streaming from Spotify is pratically the only way of consuming music in Sweden.

To compare with last year, Måns was number 3 with 225,000 streams. The success of this song is mindboggling.
February 29, 20169 yr It's really an obvious success though. Even I, who is usually clueless about what's IN, was able to identify the hit potential of this song. I do feel dirty liking this song though as it's performed by a twat~
February 29, 20169 yr Really rooting for If I Were Sorry, partly for the breakdowns that will occur in here, partly because it really is a fantastic song. Those Spotify numbers are crazy :o
February 29, 20169 yr It's not so much the song (still not thing but it'd be passable), but his bloody voice :drama: Absolutely unlistenable. I think if it was like Shawn Mendes or someone it'd probably be a passable album track sort of song. I wouldn't care if it was for some random Eastern Europe country but I think it's tragic that this will win over brilliance from Molly Sanden, Ace Wilder, ISA etc.
February 29, 20169 yr I don't think If I Were Sorry is awful, I just find it so average that I'm surprised so many can get so excited by it. Seems like he has this wrapped up though! :(
February 29, 20169 yr I can't stop thinking that the production of the Frans song is pretty similar to this (huge European hit, No.1 in Germany recently), and the bridge melody is exactly the same: 8gbImG50oIc
February 29, 20169 yr The song would be fine if it was sung by almost anyone else. Judging from her Instagram Molly went up to Spotify/iTunes later so is playing catch up
February 29, 20169 yr To be honest the more I listen to 'If I Were Sorry' the more I like it. I think it's a brilliant card to play come Stockholm. It kinda reminds me of the reception Lena had at the start, "it's too quirky", "her voice is annoying", "her accent is terrible", "the lyrics are stupid", "it's not Eurovision", yet she managed to charm Europe to victory. I'm pretty sure Frans is capable of the same. Växjö 2017.
February 29, 20169 yr There's a massive difference in that Lena could sing, Satellites was good and Lena wasn't a complete and utter raging douchecunt
