March 8, 20169 yr Author 2006 http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g297/Hitcruiser/Third/SeparationLine.png Tim's Picks: "2006 was such an amazing year for music, so it was very hard for me to pick only 2 songs from this year. Temperature, Ain't No Other Man, SexyBack, Promiscuous, So What and Fergalicious were all cute from the shortlist. What an amazing year" The Pussycat Dolls - Buttons (feat. Snoop Dogg) http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g297/Hitcruiser/Third/SeparationLine.png VCLxJd1d84s Where do I start with this. For me this has to be one of the, if not THE best girlgroup song ever. Everything about it is perfect and matches so well. From the sensual "I'm a sexy momma", to the iconic "Baby can't you see, these clothes aren't fitting on me", the Snoop Dogg rap (Baby doll, Ashley, Nicole, Kermit, Jessica, Kimberley, Melody, you telling me?) and the laughable live performance of this at the AMA's (Melody came out of nowhere on stage screaming for her life and Nicole and Melody battled it out for the attention) To this day I still play this song on a daily basis and it slays me everytime. It makes the need for a Pussycat Dolls comeback even more evident. In my opinion this is one of the most remembered pop songs of 2006, but I didn't fully adored it as I do now until the Youtube era and I was a hormonal teen. Girlbands these days could never. Christina Aguilera - Hurt http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g297/Hitcruiser/Third/SeparationLine.png wwCykGDEp7M Hurt is a song that only really clicked with me in the past 2 years or something. I don't know what it is, but something in me connects with that song on such a level that it triggers emotion in me. I don't do emotions, whatchudoin' Xtine? For me this is Christina's best song. Yes, I rate it above Lady Marmalade, Beautiful and Ain't No Other Man. The vulnerable vocals in the verse and the massive vocal explosion at the end of the song amke this one of my favourite power ballads of all time. I always found Christina to be underrated, due to the comparison with Britney and how her career is inferior to hers, but with songs like these she completely blew Brit out of the water. Thankfully this got the commercial success it deserved. Cameron's Picks: "Picking just 2 songs was so difficult for this as there so many good songs from 2006. I cannot believe it is 10 years ago. CRAZY!" JoJo - Too Little Too Late http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g297/Hitcruiser/Third/SeparationLine.png s8LIRtPnuA8 Oh my goodness gracious me, I really have no idea where to start with this incredible pop song. I guess let's first of all be thankful that JoJo finally graced us with new music in 2015 as it was beginning to become a bit of a joke that her last album was around 2006 which just so happened to feature a little track called 'Too Little Too Late'. This song, to me, screams everything associated with a perfect pop song. Yes, it may be a mid-tempo ballad, but in some ways these types of songs are utter perfection. There is no denying that JoJo has an outstanding voice and vocal range and I cannot fault her talent. Releasing music before she was even in her teenage years must have been tough, but god didn't she release some tunes? When ever this song is played on Plug, Rabbit or Dubtrack, it always gets a fantastic reception with comments about how much of a throwback it is, and how incredible this song sounds even though it has aged 10 years! I feel like for me personally, this is one of those songs that I had completely forgotten about until I had to compile this list. It comes up on shuffle from time to time, but I don't think I have ever realized just how good it is. The music video is EVERYTHING with JoJo looking hot as f*** (I don't care if she was only 16/17) and the lyrics to the song seem rather personal. An incredible track that ticks every box for me. :D Natasha Bedingfield - Unwritten http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g297/Hitcruiser/Third/SeparationLine.png cFFBSSntZgs Remember when Natasha Bedingfield was everywhere? I am sure her status was similar to that of Jess Glynne's right now. After doing some stalking of her Wikipedia page, I never actually realized how MASSIVE she was 10 years ago. WTF! I was even more shocked to learn that this had managed to go top 5 in the USA! For me, again, my 2006 pick is a ballad. However, as you should all know by now, Ballads seem to be my go to song, and of course they have to be female sung otherwise I just don't feel as much emotion as I should. It is crazy that this song is over 10 years old. I remember singing this with my schools choir (don't judge) which is another thing that is making me feel uneasy with how fast life is going by, but again, that is another story and I am going off topic.. Sorry! This song also seems to get a fantastic reaction. I know it was released in 2004 but it didn't seem to really take off worldwide until 2006 so I am using that as a valid reason for it being featured ;) . Additionally I feel this is another great song to kick off this thread with and I hope you all go back and have a little listen to it. :D Also the 2004 Video >>>> the 2006 one. Liam's Picks: "2006 is quite a fondly remembered year for me, I’d say it was maybe the first year I really got into music in a big way. I bought CDs and listened to the radio before then, but it was only in 2006 that I really got into the charts, following music etc., which is quite fitting as it is of course also the year this very site was born, and the start of our journey through 10 years of pop." Rihanna - SOS http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g297/Hitcruiser/Third/SeparationLine.png IXmF4GbA86E This dance-pop banger samples Tainted Love by Soft Cell and it was a massive hit as the lead single for her 2nd album, peaking in the top 5 in many countries including #2 in the UK and #1 in both America and Australia. This is the song that fully saw Rihanna’s potential; Pon De Replay was a tune but people thought she’d be a bit of a “one and a half hit wonder”. Critics called this “clever pop” and a “sexy club tune”, while praising Rihanna’s vocals. This remains one of my favourite Rihanna songs, alongside the likes of Only Girl, Man Down, Disturbia and the 2006 follow-up Unfaithful (which I also could easily have written about). Even when this was a hit though, nobody could have predicted the pop tour de force Rih would become just a year later :o Carrie Underwood - Before He Cheats http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g297/Hitcruiser/Third/SeparationLine.png WaSy8yy-mr8 On the other end of the commercial spectrum (at least in the UK), we have a modern country classic from an American Idol champion. Country isn’t the genre of choice in the UK, so Carrie wasn’t successful until her top 20 album Blown Away in 2012, but this scorned girlfriend anthem was once the biggest selling country song of all time in the US, and is still Carrie’s biggest hit with a whopping 64 weeks in the Hot 100 top 50, and won her two Grammys itself for Best Country Song and Best Country Female Vocal Performance. This is one of my absolute favourite songs of all time - especially thanks to Carrie’s growly vocals and the sassy lyrics. This song lets us all know that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned…. Not that you’d want to ever cheat on a woman like Carrie
March 8, 20169 yr Omgosh all those are incredible (and the write-ups as well)! I'd probably order them: 1. Before He Cheats- one of the best ever Country songs  2. SOS- Slutjam  3.
