Will noted DAN fave Calvin Harris top the year? Will Fedde Le Grand top the year for the 2nd time in a row? Or could another of these songs do it? Find out throughout the next week.

And yes, I have not counted Robyn's 'With Every Heartbeat', because as great as it is, I don't qualify it as a DANCE song. More electro-pop.

I do really like Put Your Hands Up but probably find it the weakest of your top 6 actually :o just find it a bit too repetitive. Was one of the best #1s of 2006 all the same.

Yeah Yeah on the other hand :wub: simply a song that has not aged & I've never forgotten it. It stood out so much at the time! Didn't know that it was Fedde that kept it off #1 what an amazing top 2 in a non-dance year!

'put your hands up for detroit' is immense and truly ikonek :cheeseblock: ~ in fact that top3 is flawless :dance: :wub: :dance:

have to disagree with you there, not least because it was released in most territories on ministry :P ~ i'd also say shakira/beyoncé 'beautiful liar' only reached #1 because of the popularity of the freemasons remix that year :kink:~

of those selected t2, camille and ida corr stand out :cheer:

10 Freaks The Creeps (Get on the Dancefloor)

{9}-13-15-23-44-45-56-69->8

The electro-house trend started in 2006 would continue to do well across 2007, producing hits like 'The Creeps' and urr... 'The Creeps (Get on the Dancefloor)'. How coincidental.

We start off with the one that tells us to get on the dancefloor in any case. Freaks are British duo Justin Harris and Luke Solomon with added vocals from Stella Attar for this release. Similarly to the Bodyrox track from the year prior, this found fame as a remix - in this case by Vandalism, an Australian electro-house group, which would remain uncredited on the single release. Neither act would be seen in the chart again.

The track is quite in-your-face but that does work well with the song's energetic production, and video certainly lives up to the song title. It's not something I go back to often but as it is quite good and the fact there are only 16 songs to choose from in 2007, it lands a place at #10 here.

The following songs do not make the top 10 and thus will not get a review (poor GA and Cascada):

11 Groove Armada Get Down [feat. Stush & Red Rat]

12 Axwell I Found U [feat. Max'C]

13 Groove Armada Song 4 Mutya (Out Of Control) [feat. Mutya Buena]

14 Cascada What Hurts The Most

15 Booty Luv Shine

16 Cascada Miracle

'get down' :wub: :music:

'the creeps (get on the dancefloor)' was definitely overshadowed by the other 'the creeps' :lol:

09 Calvin Harris The Girls

9-{3}-6-4-9-18-25-30-34-35-31-43-59->13

Calvin Harris is as popular as ever today but let's not forget [even though he probably rather would considering his drastic change in sound since] it was just over nine years ago now when he first broke into the charts with the brilliant 'Acceptable In The 80s' [yet to come in this countdown]. That song would be his first of 19 to date top 10 hits, and even more when you add his uncredited appearances. He would then follow this up with his first, of 14 and counting, official top 3 hits - a tongue in cheek song about 'getting all the girls'. Ironically now he's probably able to get all the girls he wants.

The song is quite a fun dance-pop song with his distinctive electro-disco sound as well as his singing voice which we hear less of these days. It just doesn't quite do it as much for me as 'Acceptable' and ultimately considering his large discography is not up with his absolute best.

The song would be followed up by a #43 but he would feature on a #1 single the following year...

08 Freemasons Uninvited [feat. Bailey Tzuke]

21-{8}-8-8-10-12-15-15-18-31-45-53-47-47-45-47-50-58->18

James Wiltshire and Russell Small, better known as Freemasons, only had one top 10 hit as a credited artist - which was of course 'Uninvited'. It would be the fourth of six top 40 hits for them but they remained popular as remixers even well into the 2010s, but not so much in the past few years. Popular remixes of theirs include Kylie Minogue 'The One', Shakira 'Beautiful Liar' and Kelly Rowland 'Work'.

'Uninvited' itself too is not an original work. It was originally sung by Alanis Morissette for the City of Angels soundtrack in 1998. An odd choice of song to cover I guess but it does work very well. Gotta love a house beat over what is otherwise a not-very upbeat song. The vocalist here is great on this also.

I promise this will get finished one day!!!

07 Eric Prydz vs. Floyd Proper Education

{2}-2-5-10-12-16-25-28-47-70->10

Eric Prydz has had a pretty impressive career spanning well over a decade, most recently in 2016 scoring his second top 40 album with 'Opus'. Back in the day he was quite a singles chart force relatively speaking, getting three big UK top 2 hits. This was the second of them.

What's most impressive about this song is that I believe it was the first time Pink Floyd allowed a dance producer to remix a song of theirs for commercial release. The music video also was great specifically in its message of making the planet greener.

Prydz is of course a master in the 4/4 house beat and this song shows that well, although personally I think 'Call On Me' and 'Pjanoo' amongst many others beat this in terms of song quality. The production in this was less cheap than many other songs of the time that relied on samples, but that doesn't necessarily make it my favourite of those types of songs (I would definitely rank the Beatfreakz big hit above this).

Pink Floyd, credited as just Floyd for this release, would not get another singles chart hit again, though would continue to be a recognisable name and classic band capable of getting #1 albums with big first-week sales.

06 Alex Gaudino Destination Calabria [feat. Crystal Waters]

18-5-{4}-5-9-12-14-16-24-36-34-42-46-58-70-66R(3)-69-69-68-75->20

In 2006 David Guetta got a big hit out of mashing up two non-hits. This year Italian house producer Alex Gaudino would get his first smash by a similar process. Using the vocal of his own 'Destination Unknown' (featuring singer Crystal Waters) and heavily sampling Rune's 'Calabria'.

Rune himself would try to get a hit with the instrumental the same year, re-releasing the song with vocals from Natasja titled 'Calabria 2007'. The song would enter a few charts but not the UK's. Even more unfortunately Natasja would die in a car crash later that year.

'Destination Calabria' like many dance music videos of the time heavily relied on its sex appeal, and I would personally recommend it if you like ass. :ph34r: The song itself of course is really great and would be one of the defining dance hits of the year.

Alex would get three more chart hits including 2 more top 10s, one as late as 2011, before (most likely) disappearing from the charts forever. None of them would match the success nor quality of this though.
