September 30, 200618 yr Yes, we knew that already :) ah ok... I can't see any reference to pandora's Box on this or any other thread here, though... Although Celine was actually the one that made a [big] hit out of the song. If you ask anyone who sang "It's All Coming Back To Me Now", I'll bet no one (or the odd one) will say Pandora's Box. but that's surely because the people who would buy Celine Dion records wouldn't have a particularly extensive knowledge of music like Jim Steinman. Everyone I know is well aware that the song is a Pandora's Box song... it was a minor hit in the 80s and was a cult success, too, as was the album. Also it was Meat Loaf's own fault. He didn't want to record it back then, so Steinman gave it to his own project group. They released it, but it wasn't very succesful so he gave it to Celine. And well, you know what happens afterwards. B) Meat Loaf is ten years too late unfortunately.. And remember Celine Dion recorded the song some 10 to 15 years AFTER Pandora's Box - so it was hardly a case of "oh, it wasn't huge with Pandora's Box, let's give it to someone who could sell a fart on a CD". Dion's people heard the song, thought it would suit her, and requested permission. As for Meatloaf being 10 years too late... err.. remember, Dion's is a cover version of a song Meatloaf's long-term wrting partner wrote many years ago. I can't see Dion's fans or Meatloaf's being overly happy with the other recording it - but, for Steinman, it was money in the bank over credibility. I doubt very much whether Celine Dion will achieve the lasting success of Meatloaf... nor will she rack up their phenomenal sales.
September 30, 200618 yr She's been in showbizz for 25 years now and sold around 180 million records. She was the best selling female artist of all times in 2004. I doubt Meatloaf sold more than that.
September 30, 200618 yr check the sales figures for Bat Out Of Hell - I think it's the 2nd biggest selling album of all time.

Everyone I know is well aware that the song is a Pandora's Box song... it was a minor hit in the 80s and was a cult success, too, as was the album. I'm not talking about people who would buy Celine records, I literally meant everyone..:P I'm betting 90% don't even know who Pandora's Box is..lol And remember Celine Dion recorded the song some 10 to 15 years AFTER Pandora's Box - so it was hardly a case of "oh, it wasn't huge with Pandora's Box, let's give it to someone who could sell a fart on a CD". Dion's people heard the song, thought it would suit her, and requested permission. Actually, I've read quite a number of times, Steinman "gave" the song to Celine.. I doubt very much whether Celine Dion will achieve the lasting success of Meatloaf... nor will she rack up their phenomenal sales. I doubt that..lol Like Suus said, Celine's been in the music business for over 25 years, she's sold over 180 million albums worldwide, she had 2 back to back albums that sold more than 30 million. She toured non-stop between 1995-1999 and sold out stadiums, she's been performing in Vegas for almost 4 years now (she was only supposed to be there 3 years) and will be there till December 2007. And the show's still selling extremely well. And while she's there, she's still releasing albums, doing collaborations, etc. etc. She's far from done yet.. Meat Loaf's glory days are over really.. check the sales figures for Bat Out Of Hell - I think it's the 2nd biggest selling album of all time. Actually no..it's about the 6th. The top 3 is comprised of Michael Jackson, AC/DC & The Eagles. Meat Loaf has really only had 1 album that sold so many copies, the rest were far below..
