'Live to Tell' is not a personal favourite of mine but it is a beautiful, powerful ballad <3 I love the silence and then the continuation/final build up around the 4 minute mark

I love Live to Tell! I have to say, I'm surprised at its high placing here, but don't begrudge for doing so at all!
Live To Tell is one of those songs which just ANNOUNCES ITSELF as being something very special from the off. I agree that it's probably the first time Madonna truly stepped out as an ''artist'' rather than just an (amazing) popstar. I was always very fond of it, but I think the Confessions Tour version of it sealed the deal as one of her absolute best moments, quite aside from the obvious sensationalism of her being on the cross, the whole thing just showcased what a powerful song it is and her deeper, richer vocals elevated it further still.

Live to tell is stunning . I do not believe the song is autobiographical at all.

Yet the vocal is so haunting and mysterious.

One of my all time faves.

Live to Tell is my #1, should have been much higher and top 10 for sure :( Love everything about the song, the melody, the lyrics, especially the "if I run away, I'll never have the strength to go very far..."

Experience has made me rich

11. Material Girl // Like A Virgin // 8.65

Just missing out on the top 10 is Material Girl as we enter the domain of the ever-popular with very few low scores and an abundance of high points! The song was released as the second single from the 'Like A Virgin' album and helped to dispel the aura of Madonna as the dainty songtress of the debut album as she matured into a more quirky, adventurous, sexy woman of the streets. The premise of the song is simple: dreaming and immersing yourself in all of life's luxurious and being completely and unashamedly attracted to the material aspects of life. Frequently cited as one of her most influentual and iconic songs it helped to cement M on the pop scene and as the icon that we know today. A commercial success, making the top 5 across the globe and proving that she was here to STAY. Although Madonna over time didn't fully agree with the label given to herself as a Material Girl it's a fun pop song, that is both empowering and tongue-in-cheek. The video shows Madonna as Mariyln Monroe, a central figure of inspiration for her and it's fitting because the song is influential to so many others we see today.

I have grown to appreciate this more . It is a classic but not one of my faves .
Always loved 'Material Girl' it was the very first Madonna song I heard as child and since then I've become a lifetime fan of hers. Yes it's still one of my alltime faves from her, just love it, never gets old.

Cackling at Sorry being top 10. Only on Buzzjack!

Otherwise though that's a pretty stellar line-up.

Yeah Sorry seems like a very well loved single, not just Buzzjack. Though for me it is by a mile the weakest in the top 10.
Sorry probably wouldn't be that high if this were a ''PROPER'' list, but it was a UK #1 (and she has only had 13, lest we forget) and off surely her most beloved album on here (and a lot of online forums) so it makes sense. I mean it's an incredible song anyway so I'm very pleased and if it weren't for the fact it followed the utter PERFECTION of Hung Up then I think it would be more positively viewed still.
