The marvellous Sophie Ellis-Bextor has revealed details of her 6th album due this year. Seems she's going for a retro disco sound this time, one of the confirmed song titles is 'Come With Us'.

Wanderlust was nice as a one off, but not something I return to that often so I'm glad it won't be too similar to that.

Sounds good by what they are recording.

I remember in one of the news that I read on The Attitude, SEB expressed her doubt about whether she is still passionate about disco music given she experienced the success of Wanderlust. I always think that disco doesn't really suit her that well but after listening "Only child" last year, she'd be fine as long as she finds the disco sound that suits her voice.

I'm a big fan of 'Wonderlust', it's probably her best album bar 'Trip' for me. I don't know what to hope for next era, she is very talented woman and I don't think she will disappoint!
On 'Trip...' the retro disco thing worked superbly - along with 'Wanderlust' and 'Read My Lips' it's her best album and it was my best album of 2007 overall. 'Make a Scene', whilst still an alright album, just felt a bit laboured by comparison, mainly because it took so long for it to actually come out and most of the songs from it were leaked in some form or another whilst she had more babies, cancelled tours to go on tours with Take That and the like. Now she's releasing independently and is on her own terms without a middle man at a major intervening in it all I'd like to think it'd be different.

The tracklist (according to Josepvinaixa):

1. Intro

2. Here Comes the Rapture

3. Unrequited

4. Hush Little Voices

5. Cassandra

6. My Puppet Heart

7. Death of Love

8. Saddest Happiness

9. Come With Us

10. Crystallize

11. Wild Forever

12. Don’t Shy Away

Come With Us premiered on Radio 2 this morning, it's about 1:38:30 in on this link:

It's good, it almost sounds like some of the stuff on Read My Lips or Trip The Light Fantastic if it had been produced by Nile Rodgers, definitely more classic Sophie than the stuff on Wanderlust.

Nice to hear her voice again, don't really think much of it on first listen.

It's a bit like 'Love Is Here' with a Nile Rodgers-esque guitar.

It's nice enough! I like the disco vibe and should grow. I hope there's better on the album though.

Yeah I thought of Love Is Here in particular. Though that track is probably in my top five Sophie songs () and it doesn't quite reach those heights for me.

The sound is promising for me at least, so I'm very much looking forward to the album.

If it is similar to Love Is Here (forgot how much I love that song) then I should like this. I wasn't too fussed for her last album.

Confirmed September 2nd release date. Come With Us is the first single/grat.

I like how she's carried the theme of Wanderlust but more colourful *.*

Well i think Groovejet with Spiller may have kickstarted the whole nu disco trend in dance in the early and mid 2000s which created an alternative to trance and more electronic types of dance music at the time.

Thats good that she is going back to her nu disco roots, Murder on the dancefloor was a great tune too. Something with Sigma or Clean Bandit (they are very disco influenced) would be a great crossover record and could do well.

Yeah that artwork isn't very good imo :( I do like the song though, a lot more than Young Blood on first few listens! Quite excited for the album, Wanderlust was quite a pleasant listen through.
