September 2, 20168 yr I like how this is like a continuation of Wanderlust tbh, it suits her voice. It's got a bit more oomph too which I love.
September 2, 20168 yr In light of the entire album, 'Come With Us' as the lead single looks kind of cynical.
September 2, 20168 yr I'm slightly underwhelmed by the album at the moment. It's not bad in any means, just a bit subdued and dull in places. I think I was expecting more after Wanderlust but this isn't quite up there in comparison.
September 2, 20168 yr Author I was expecting a bit more of the disco vibe of the single, but it's not even that different to Wanderlust (except it doesn't have the charm or melody the songs on there had). I'm so disappointed with this. :(
September 3, 20168 yr It was no20 on iTunes last night. I think it will struggle and be lucky to sell half the amount of Wanderlust.
September 3, 20168 yr It was no20 on iTunes last night. I think it will struggle and be lucky to sell half the amount of Wanderlust. It also hadn't made the Top 30 on Amazon, think this will enter between 15-20 and then fade away quickly. Does she have any promo coming up? All I can see so far is that she done a performance and signing at HMV in London.
September 3, 20168 yr I feel sad to say that I don't even have the urge to listen to this album (for now).
September 3, 20168 yr Am I alone in preferring this to Wanderlust? It's up there with Trip The Light Fantastic and Make A Scene for me.
September 4, 20168 yr I prefer this to Wanderlust too, there are some beautiful melodies and the production is brilliant, doesn't deserve to go largely unnoticed. Wild Forever, Crystallise, Here Comes The Rapture, Come With Us, Cassandra and Unrequited are all varying shades of excellent.
September 5, 20168 yr Author According to Mint Royale, the album was #7 yesterday and he expects it to land at around 11/12 on Friday.
September 5, 20168 yr I was expecting a bit more of the disco vibe of the single, but it's not even that different to Wanderlust (except it doesn't have the charm or melody the songs on there had). I'm so disappointed with this. :( Sadly I think the days of Sophie appealing to music forum folk are essentially over. The only reason her post-Make A Scene music has gotten any attention from pop fans is because of her past, and I think a lot of us have to come to terms with her not being, well, a popstar anymore. We're not Sophie's target market in 2016.
September 5, 20168 yr It's not ideally what I wanted but since getting the vinyl it's majorly grown on me. Mainly track 2, 8 and 9, the one about a puppet has a Sugababes Denial twang to it.
September 7, 20168 yr Author The album has *slightly* grown on me, I'm still disappointed it was billed as a sparkly or more upbeat version of Wanderlust when it really isn't at all. I'm finding enjoyment in everything but 'Hush Little Voices', 'My Puppet Heart' and 'Don't Shy Away'... but strangely this album has actually made me appreciate Wanderlust more.
September 11, 20168 yr Good God Unrequited is EXQUISITE. The whole album is really lovely, a nice continuation of the Wanderlust sound, whilst still being a natural evolution. It's clearly a passion project and this is where she is as an artist now. I'm quite happy with it too because it really works for her voice and the production and melodies are still excellent. Wild Forever, Unrequited, Come With Us and Don't Shy Away are my early PICKS.
September 12, 20168 yr Not a nice week for the album this week, number 74 in the midweek information released today :arrr:
September 12, 20168 yr That's a little worse that I expected, but given everything it's also not a huge surprise. She should at least get a Strictly slot at some point which might help it rebound and add a few thousand sales.
September 12, 20168 yr Not sure how this will perform? There doesn't seem to be much buzz around the single or album this time, I'm sure it'll go Top 20 due to the sales climate but it's feeling like it's going to be a 17-86-Out kinda release. My prediction almost came true - Currently at a horrific #74 in the mids! It's making 'Wanderlust' looking like a blip!
September 13, 20168 yr The chorus of Death Of Love reminds me so much of something else but I really can't quite place it.
September 16, 20168 yr #89 this week with a huge 77 place drop! Can't say I'm surprised though the album has not clicked with me at all yet.
