I'm looking forward to seeing the show again when it's released. I felt so sorry for Nick in the show as ev erything he had been was lost. I hope it's on Sky1 first as I'd see it quicker that way. All I have to do is find someone who HAS Sky 1

Sky1 would it not be sky arts? . Either would do for me :D

Sky 1? Is that what Darius said? Musicals, concerts etc. are usually shown on Sky Arts. From Here To Eternity definitely was.

Sorry. Hadn't read whole thread...... . polly has already made that point.

I have Sky But I don't have a DvD recorder any more. 1 play DVDs on my TV or Computer and record on my Sky box.

I've never figured out a way to move the recordings on to any other device.

you are both probably right about the Sky.

Us no Sky people have no idea.

Darius has not confirmed anything yet except that Sky have the DVD, as far as I know.

I was really meaning explaining to your partner your feelings, your dreams and asking them theirs. Then working together for a common goal which makes them both happy.

Not complaining, nagging etc

Too many people moan about their partners and drift apart....

Then, if only I had done, said......

But then it is too late :(

Simple Like The Truth on the Dive In album really nails how the lack of every day communication can drive people apart.

I know what you mean. I tried moving my recording of from here to eternity to dvd and ended up deleting it instead. Now I'm not even sure if from here to eternity will ever be on sky arts again but at least got funny girl to look forward to.

Sorry to hear that, polly. I won't try to move them.

I've got Darius's Hotel Babylon show on there too. One of the channels showed every episode right from the beginning.

I usually just play my Sky HD recording of FHTE rather than the DVD. I watched it again last week.

Thank goodness I buy into the hard bitten career soldier Warden. Otherwise, it would be very difficult to watch Darius swearing so much.

She was ably supported by pop star turned stage star Darius Campbell, who delivered a polished performance as the suave Nick Arnstein.

For someone who started his career as a singer, his vocal talent could never be in doubt, but he proved he had plenty of acting skill as well.

Both funny and sad, at the heart is the rags to riches tale of Fanny and her romance with the suave wheeler dealer Nick Arnstein, played X-Factor alumni Darius Campbell who has found huge success in stage musicals.

The two leads and supporting cast are faultless, the costumes beautiful and the songs memorable.

On her journey, Brice falls in love with Nick Arnstein, played by the rather wonderful Darius Campbell, who occupies the role with dashingly handsome panache. He towers over his co-star, smoothly seducing her with his disarmingly warm baritone voice. The chemistry between them is evident, making their final heart break seem that little bit more real.

Darius Campbell (who I remember as Darius Danesh from Pop Idol) played the role of Nick Arnstein very well. He has a super voice and the chemistry between Arnstein & Brice is clear from the start.

That top quality includes a quite sensational cast with every role perfect. Darius Campbell was a towering and very dapper chap as her handsome if rather feckless husband Nicky Arnstein, who cannot cope with being the unsuccessful member of the relationship, dependent on his wife’s earning, and turns to fraud to try to make some money of his own.

As well as humour, music and camaraderie, “Funny Girl” is a love story. The chemistry of Smith and Campbell was immediate – as soon as he spoke his first line as the smooth-talking, tall, dark and handsome Arnstein – she was hooked! Their duets and solos added layer upon layer to their story and deepened their connection, while Campbell’s sombre and devilish rendition of: “Temporary Arrangement” added the menace his character needed to become more than just an extension of Brice.

Her romance, subsequent marriage and divorce from the suave and sophisticated Nick Arnstein is the central theme of the show. Arnstein is played by Darius Campbell, née Danesh – famed for his Britney Spears turn on ITV’s Popstars, now a stalwart of London musical theatre. His voice is superb and he reminded me of Rhett Butler – indeed, it transpires he played him in Sir Trevor Nunn’s theatrical adaptation of Gone With The Wind.

On stage Smith looked so tiny, especially beside tall, handsome and equally talented Darius Campbell who played Nick Arnstein. She was petite and perfect, and it suited the character of Brice. Smith reminded me of one of my favourite comedy performers, Melissa McCarthy; her facial expressions and characteristics were very similar, so I warmed to her immediately.

I was close to tears many times during the performance, and I cried tears of laughter during the seduction scene between Smith and Campbell; they had perfect chemistry and perfect timing when it came to the comic scenes.

When it comes to the main characters, both Smith and Campbell captivated my heart. I used to love Darius way back when he became famous and I had no idea he was in the show, so you can imagine my excitement! He was absolutely fantastic and I actually sympathised with him and his situation with Fanny and his lack of finance/gambling problems. He was gentle and kind, even with his faults, and his voice was so beautiful, I couldn't get enough of him and his version of You Are Woman, I Am Man was stunning.

The love interest Nick Arnstein, played by Darius Campbell, who first rose to fame in Pop Idol, provides an almost perfect fit for the role that was originally played by Omar Shariff in the film version; but with the advantage of Campbell having a much better voice. The duet between Smith and Campbell is perhaps the most touching moment of the second half.

Brice fell in love with a bad 'un - Nicky Arnstein, who in Funny Girl is let off the hook as being more of an eejit than a serious criminal. Darius Campbell (formerly known as Danesh) turns in an impeccable performance as the smooth, suave Nick, and dusts it off with just the right amount of cheese.

Along the way she meets the dashing Nicky Arnstein who is as shady as he is handsome. Blinded by love however Fanny is unable to see his faults until their life together eventually implodes. Smith attacks the role of Brice with gusto. She brings both energy and heart to the role and a huge amount of humour. She is aided in no small part by popstar turned leading man Darius Campbell as Nicky. Despite his reality TV origins he proves that he actually has a depth and talent beyond the clever editing of a throwaway television show.

Former Pop Idol contestant Darius Campbell (remember ‘Colourblind’?) aptly plays the part of Fanny’s love interest Nick Arnstein, a suave gambler and New York socialite. His towering presence is the perfect foil for the diminutive Smith. Their chemistry was illustrated during a love scene in which Arnstein tries to seduce the awkward Brice.

Darius Campbell is perfectly cast as Nick Arnstein. The ladies in the audience swoon at his suave, sophisticated portrayal and outstanding vocal performance, while the gentlemen just want to be him. The chemistry between Barnes and Campbell is good, although maybe that tiny spark of absolute magic was missing at times.

Campbell, who's CV includes stints in Gone With The Wind, Guys And Dolls and a trio of appearances in Chicago, proves both his talent and vocal power with a compelling interpretation of Nick Arnstein. Far more than 'the guy from Pop Idol', Campbell takes a character, who's success to failure story is arguably the complete opposite of Fanny's, and holds his own beautifully. There's always a risk in a show that's centred around one particular character, that others can become supplementary - but this is very much not the case here

Opposite Barnes is Darius Campbell as Nicky Arnstein. Campbell has a suave sophistication that is well suited to the role, with a straight delivery that serves as a good counter to Brice’s brash humour. He also has a fine singing voice and gives a competent performance despite the role of Arnstein being somewhat two-dimensional and overshadowed by Brice.

I must also give credit to Darius Campbell who played Nicky Arnstein. I admit I was intrigued because my only knowledge of him was as a pop star in the early 2000’s. I am happy to say I was very pleasantly surprised. He was a charming leading man. Towering over Natasha with a gorgeously smooth baritone voice, his take on Nick Arnstein seemed effortless. There's undeniable chemistry between Campbell and Barnes that has you rooting for them the whole way and their voices melt together magnificently, no more so that in the number ‘Who Are You Now?’
