Sorry Bond Bug I'm somewhat confused?

Rob said he was going to leave -so they said go he could go immediately - they didn't try to stop him but by that time Rob had already disengaged from the band

Gary has sung lead vocals on many other songs - why all the criticism for this one?

Yes , who gives the best vocal is relevant. Mark was the right fit for Shine, Howard for NF. It's essential the right person sings the right song

Sorry, don't understand your comment about demotion?

Sorry, don't understand your comment regarding Gary being too timid? Is that sarcasm ? I'm sure Mark and Howard are more than capable of having views and opinions

I'm not going to post any further comments on this topic. I think there's now a slightly unpleasant element to it - so I'm bowing out as views are too divergent and I can't see any consensus or agreement being reached other than continued personal comments being directed at band members.

I'm following in your footsteps :)

That almost suggests that you want everyone to agree with you. Well what's the point of having a discussion if everyone agrees! I could understand if we were making comments about other users - but its about the act and the song (the song - I agree is very pleasant - and you're right - Gary's vocal is obviously far better and surely the only choice to lead on it) but it does seem that you want everyone to agree on absolutely everything you say! :)

I just want to say again, like I said in my previous post, no one (except from maybe one or two people ) is questioning that Gary has the lead vocals on Cry. The issue with Cry is that it's almost impossible to hear Mark's and Howard's voices, and that is annoying some fans because this is supposed to be Sigma feat.TT, not Sigma featuring GB.

It seems that way, but I am sorry if I offended anyone. I thought I had made it clear numerous times that I am a GB fan. In fact he is the reason I am now a budding songwriter. If I created a problem or any bad feeling, I am sorry.

Thank you for saying that so well. However, I can see how my posts may have come across in a way I did not intend and I apologize to all on this forum for that.

I said I wouldn't post again relating to this topic but I wanted to reassure Bond Bug. I think the post you've tagged from Kath was actually in relation to me - so please don't worry.

I also said I wouldn't post anything else related to the topic, but I feel I have to "defend" Dylan62. Reaching a consensus doesn't mean we all have to agree on everything and we all have to share the same opinions. All she - and I,as well - wanted was for people to stop coming with subjective, unfounded accusations. When we usually address an honest question, we get sarcastic replies, that try to be humorous and witty instead of a serious, factual answer. I think that's where the problem resides.

All we heard on this thread was that Gary was hogging the limelight. OK, that was a point of debate. We ask why certain posters have this opinion, we get answered that it's because Gary has lead vocals; we point out that that's been the case since the 90s and that there have been numerous instances where Gary has willingly stepped back and given some of his best songs to his bandmates and other factual proves, we get replied that he is, actually, imposing his will on Mark and Howard and hiding their voices behind a choir on purpose - it's when we reach this level of dialogue that I feel we have to step back.

I, for one, haven't made a secret of the fact I'm not a fan of Mark's and I always said why - the cheating scandal, the limited vocal range and him mocking Gary with Robbie back in the 90s. When I ask why certain people have it in so badly for Gary, I get replied that it's because he's arrogant, smug, selfish and other subjective reasons, that can't actually be substantiated.

That's it. I hope I made my position - and I believe dylan's (I hope she's not mad at me for speaking on her behalf) - clear. I don't expect everyone to agree with me, I just want a mature dialogue. I realize that, on most forums, there's more of a competition of witty, funny comments rather than a serious dialogue, but I had the feeling that, on this forum, we had another level of conversation.

The whole lead on teh single etc has most certainly divided opinion, stirred up reactions, questioned what role Mark and Howard have on the song etc. All great debates and arguments and opinions.

It is a shame Mark and Howard are so lost on this track but its likely done this way for a reason and likely that Howard and Mark;s voices didn’t suit the track.

On the whole I agree Mark has a very limited vocal, but in some ways its very distinctive. I have enjoyed many tracks Mark has lead on and I haven't enjoyed others. My biggest question with the vocals in Take That is why hasn’t Howard been given more leads or at least lead on another single. Never Forget worked wonderfully well but we have never since got a single with Howard on lead which I find frustrating.

I agree. Howard may not have a great voice, but that is the case with many singers in successful bands, including some lead singers. A song can be written and produced that allows for a more raw vocal. I remember GB saying he wrote The Day After Tomorrow for Mark and took into account Mark's limited vocal range. A jerky kind of thing to say to the media, but Take That as a threesome looks stupid if it looks like Gary Barlow and two backing singers.

Hi Bond Bug - Dylan was right - my post wasn't in response to you - it was in response to Dylan (but Dylan - I wasn't having a go at you either really).

I know Kath. I apologize if I caused any confusion. Why don't we all just agree on one thing - Take That is :yahoo:

Cry has dropped to number 9 on the i-Tunes chart now, but top 10 all week is a promising start.

Its now dropped to iTunes number 10. I would believe it will fall out of the top 10 very shortly.
