Must admit I didn't know Adele had a new single out. If it's her second single from 25 she doesn't appear to be doing as well as she did with releases off 21.

Cry seems to be holding up relatively well if streaming is taken out of the equation. I thought after the initial week it would quickly disappear out of the top 100, so all in all it's slightly more positive than I initially envisaged.

Third! There's only so far it can realistically go from an album that's now sold 3 million.

Unfortunately, now that CRy was taken off BBC's playlists, I think we'll see it plummet :(
With it off the playlists and the Glastonbury effect i think a big drop is inevitable this week.
Sales for Cry currently stand at 73,000. If it could reach 100,000 in the next few weeks i would settle for that.
#33 in today's mid week information. That is its highest position in the midweek information outside release week.
Hopefully it can be top 50 again this week, i know streaming is missing in the chart update but its a good start for Take That. I wonder has Cry helped to sell even a few copies of Three.
I'm happy enough with the position especially as they had no Glastonbury effct, also their position is mainly pure sales based.
I'm happy too. Another week in top 50, based on sales alone....I know I shouldn't be making comparisons, but certain artists have their singles out of top 100 in 2 weeks, despite radio support. For Cry to be hanging for so many weeks inside top 50, it's certainly not tragic. If the old charts were still in place, Cry would be considered a decent hit - #21 6 weeks after release...

I can't believe this isn't doing better considering its fairly high in the airplay chart and a decent song.

The song is selling well but its not getting any streaming. As Milly said if this was the old charts (without streaming) Cry would have a far higher peak position and would be still in the top 30.

For established acts such as Take That any many many more streaming is killing their chart positions and unfortunately that doesn't look like it will change any time soon.

Ironically though, streaming helped These Days beat Band Aid to #1 (albeit Band Aid wasn't available to stream when released initially)

It did but its streaming was far lower than its actual paid for sales.

Yes, definitely, but the margin between #1 and #2 was only a few thousand which streaming helped get it over the line.

Unfortunately it killed Hey Boy (would have been another top 40 hit) and now Cry.

Iirc, These Days would have still been #1 even if it had zero streams that week. Band Aid 20 outsold Take That on download sales but the physcial sales of These Days were enough to help it across the line on overall paid for sales.
Hey Boy was just a bad choice of single but it would have been for it to go top 40. At least Cry made it to number 21. I think its going to be very interesting to see how the lead single off the new album will perform. I would hope they can go top 10 or more.
Looks like it will fall a lot this week as its number 51 in the midweeks, it probably wont be even top 60 this week now.

Hoping the BST performance will give it a shot in the arm!
